    #69DUDES - actually, US$6.90 since the minimum was US$1.00. Also, were you able to get any drinking done on your week off? 🤔 Those beers aren’t going to drink themselves. 🤓 Also, as to your regular closing message (EIMAWAAGTD), nothing makes that more apparent than looking through a telescope and understanding what you’re looking at. 😎

Dylan, many many thanks for this , much appreciated! In no way FC deserves receiving so much attention. Please remember I'm happy to provide this for free so instead making a donation go and get yourself a beer ;-) Thanks to all of you, your support is much appreciated.

      you won't really need an edge scope for planetary imaging imho. You can get a c9.25 non edge for less than the c8 edge and with planetary, aperture is EVERYTHING. Of course, if you're going to image DSOs, then edge is better, yes. :-) happy imaging and belated 16th birthday mate.

    Thanks Dylan another great video. Just to try to help out my fellow budding atro geeks in the USA, I have a massive tip for you. Do not ever consider trying to do business with a company called OPT. I have purchased a C2.95 and CGX mount combo but that was 9 weeks ago when they said it would be 14-28 days max. But I only got half of it. No mount and they have told me every week for the last 8 weeks that it will ship in 2 weeks. They also told me it was coming from China on a plane which Celestron has confirmed is just more lies. It comes on a ship and takes 30 + days. Today the Director of sales admitted that they have been lying to me and they have no idea when they can supply the equipment. Do yourself a favor and do not order anything from OPT. I think maybe they are going bankrupt. This is how companies act when they are going out of business.

Is this providing the correct tracking at first before invoking the Firecapture Auto Guiding feature? I have watched most of your videos and know that you are a hardcore Mac user like me. I have/use FireCapture but, unlike your comment in the video, I cannot get it to save my settings so I have to re-enter data very time I use it. I asked Torsten why this was and he said that because it was free programme he wasn't going to put it on the App Store and pay them a fee every time somebody download it -TOTALLY UNDERSTANDABLE. He did give me a possible solution but it was too complicated for my level of computer knowledge. Did you manage to get the programme to save your settings in a straight forward manner - one I might understand. The second question concerns Winjupos. Do you run it on your Mac via Parallels or WineBotteler?

    Hey Dylan (and everyone else here), I've tried the Asi224 on Jupiter for the first time tonight using Firecapture, and after stacking my video the image I got looked great but when I zoomed in it was very pixelated. Is there a setting in Firecapture that I'm using wrong? How can I get a decent size Jupiter without the pixelation? I'm using a Newtonian 200mm f/5, no barlow. Thanks in advance to anyone who might be able to help me with this.

    couldn't get the auto guide trick, should the camera be horizontal in plane?

    • @DylanODonnell
      @DylanODonnell  4 роки тому

      Yes rotate it so the frame is up-down / north-south at rest on an equatorial mount.. or in Jupiters case at least, so the bands are horizontal.

    Can the atmospheric distortion be extrapolated out with software?

    • @DylanODonnell
      @DylanODonnell  4 роки тому

      Yeh I didn't mention it because I don't shoot with a colour camera for planets. Firecapture has ADC built in. But imho you'd only need ADC for a live view. You can realign colour channels in post processing if they're off.

    Utterly confused by auto align do you connect the mount to the camera or do you connect the PC. Having never used any tracking all I see is it works great but no one says how to connect to mount. I have a skywatcher scope with synscan and duel encoders the 250 P

      @@DylanODonnell I have no problems with paying for software (have bought sharpcap pro, PixInsight, Maxim DL years ago, APT etc). Devs need to eat too and we're so lucky in this hobby to have great guys writing software for the community. I still need to buy SGP pro (will try both SGP and APT and see what I prefer).
      PS I need a hand with my planetary imaging setup - could you offer some advice? - I'm not sure on the best way to set up the imaging train. C9.25, moonlight CS2 focuser, siebert optical 1.5x barlow (trying to hit that optimal f15 for my camera setup), flip mirror, zwo efw mini focusing wheel, zwo 290mm camera.
      I get very confused still with all of the different connectors and how to set up the imaging train correctly. Have just joined the Brisbane Astronomical Society (waiting on membership to be confirmed though), although work won't probably allow me to catch up that much.
