@@LiquidConceptsUSA did you strip the blue or the original coating on the gun and then paint it white? Do you have to do that with all guns? I'd imagine most especially with tight tolerance
Always looks nice coming out of the tank. It's what you t looks like after the rinse that matters. That's when you know you either got it, need to touch up with air brush if possible or strip it and start over. I do not put tape over fresh pattern any more than I have to. Out line then cover rest with plastic.
For the coating, it will hold up just fine to normal barrel heat. Now if you have a fully auto with a silencer then you may be pushing the limit of the coating. This coating will hold up to around 250-300 degrees which should be more than enough for any normal operating gun. Also the price is dependent on the gun and exactly what you want done. If you can shoot us an email at info@liquidconcepts.com with what you have and what your wanting done, we can get you a quote.

Excellent Tutorial!!!! Once complete how long does the look last for? Can the film withstand heat? Some people have mentioned heat resistant spray paint vs. film which is the best method to use? Does this custom design effect the gun functioning properly can the film get stuck inside and affect the gun function?
If the dip is done correctly, it will last years down the road. This is a permanent coating. It will hold up to around 200-300 degrees. Normally when dipping a gun, you only dip the outside and try to protect the inside from getting dipped so you dont affect the function of the gun.
If your film is not big enough for the piece you're dipping can you add a small piece right a side of it when you dip or is it better to tape it off and do a double dip?
It is better to double dip it so you can control your line and make sure it lines up as best as possible. If you just lay film down next to each other, then there is a possibility that it could have a line next to it or something like that.
Hi sir, again a very nice vid, thanks for posting and giving us an glimpse of your professionality. But I have a question. Why rinse the first dip? You could skip that part, dry it and leave the PVA stuff, then dip the remaining half and rinse .......or is this thinking out of the box ?? Greetings Pascal
How hard is rolling a small handgun, like a Sig 365 in one shot to preserve the pattern match of frame and slide? I have a gold diamondback film, and I Really want them to match up when assembled. Thanks!
How long do you wait to tape off the dipped side after you rinse it, to do the other half? I rinsed my first side and let it dry for 30 minutes and then went to tape it off and the tape pulled ink off. Should I wait longer? What could my issue be?
Mainly you can wait till its dry. If the tape pulled off the ink then you have an activator issue or a paint issue. You either need more activator or your using the wrong paint.
Did you use Inter-Coat on the 1st side before taping?Do you leave the Activator in the gun overnight(all of the time),or does it have to be emptied from the gun every night? Also, does it have a "shelf life" in the gun?As always,Thanks for sharing!
Yes I believe we did use an inter-coat on the first side before taping up the 2nd side. Yes we do leave the activator in the gun the entire time we are using the gun. We never clean it out and just keep adding more and more to the cup. Yes it does have a shelf life of normally 1 year from the date of purchase.
Does the activator ever dry in your hvlp gun? I've done a lot of painting and it seems cheaper to buy activator in quantity rather than the spray cans but how often do you need to empty and clean your hvlp?
Normally it wont dry up. We keep pouring and pouring activator into our gun and have never cleaned it out in the 7+ years that we have used that gun. Its like spraying gun cleaner through your gun the whole time your using it.
The coatings that we use will stand up to around 300-350 degrees so barrel heat is no problem unless your shooting fully automatic back to back. We can coat stainless as well as any metal, plastic, wood, fiberglass, etc.
Not as strong for sure but its the only way to get an actual "picture" or design instead of just getting solid colors like you can only do with cerakote.
When you put tape on the side you dipped first, is it already clearcoated? Seems like tape would pull the pattern off if it wasn’t cleared yet. I have to do my first butt stock with carbon so I’m trying to make sure I got it down before I pull out my film
If the dip is properly applied to the base, then the tape will not pull off the dip as it is bonded into the paint. If the dip was not activated correctly then it may pull the dip off. When we was shooting this video, we was not clear coating and this was directly to the dip itself.

This is a permanent coating that if taken care of properly, you will get years of use out of it easily! Most of the time we charge around $300 - $350 for an AR-15 to be fully dipped in a pattern from butt stock to muzzle brake.

How does that dipping effect the serial number? I have heard of the ATF busting people for these dips filling in the serial number and trying to charge people for altering or tampering with the serial number if they are full of paint or these dip film... You could maybe try to hot glue some sticks or a single stick to the bottom of the rock and try to dip it that way. Or you could just drop it in the film and hope for the best! lol.
