- Hey all Rho here! Today we're discussing the Great Wolf himself, Logan Grimnar! As we discuss how and why he's still a level above the other legends of his chapter...

Another reason Logan can one-shot a grey knight is that he can RUN in Terminator plate (meaning the suit's servos aren't carrying the weight of the armour and he is using his raw strength to push it) and his Weapon, The Axe of Morkai, is a reforged Khornate Axe so it probably still retains Khorne's blessing to make it a bane against psykers.
Not just run, the mofo vaulted in it. You gotta be real upset to make terminator armour jump.
Indeed Khorne still is attached to the axe, when Grimnar struck down Magnus with the Axe of Morkai the latter arcane defenses were destroyed and you could hear the laughter of Khorn across the battlefield
Agreed!!!!!!!!
I've heard a funny theory that the khornate axe isn't actually corrupted.
Grimnar just found an axe and painted it red and calling it a khornate axe to make chaos cultists mad.
Its also his absolutely op mental fortitude as well, no amount of psyker power bereft that of Hyperions would had stopped him
Grey Knights:
We are the most lethal chapter.
Logan:
Wheres your grandmaster, bub ?
Apparently, the Grey Knights Chapter master gave good head!
"Not if I have anything to say about that and I do."
How about a fenrisian haircut, ey?
Not only did Logan Grimnar decapitate the Gray Knight Grand Master before anyone else could react, but he did it IN TERMINATOR ARMOR.
The gray knights were having a bad day they lose 4 Justicars to just bolter fire! Thats some poor armor rolling right there!
a Terminator Armour that he was able to run with.. this, alone, make Grimnar primarch like in power
Logan Sprints in Terminator armor like a regular marine does in power armor!
@@frankacciarito6099 yes sir, but to my understanding, Terminator armour are not made to sprint so, basically, it was Grimnar wills against the AI/machine spirit of the armour AND then his muscle against the actuators.. so basically he won twice before sprinting..
@@udp1073 The armor knew better.
He is a bit busy delivering presents on his sleigh at this time of year!
i just imagined santa drop podding presents through my house lol
😂
Seriously thinking about starting a Wolves force. These recent videos are just what I need.
Wolf Priest, Wolf Lord, Wolf King, Wolf Guard, Old Wolf, Wolf wolf wolf wolf wolf~
..and i can't complain, its cool as fuck. 😂
My personal favorite. Likely the most human of the current line of Chapter Masters.
Have you met Tu'shan?
Tragically that Grey Knights GM didn't order the attack! He was taking the blame for what the Lord Inquisititor ordered. Even 40k's cool moments are fraught with Grimdark.
Kardan Stronos of the iron hands should get some recognition. As well as the master of shadows kayvaan shrike of the raven guard.
Kardan Stronos books from the Black Library don't even have an audiobook version.
Most 40k hobbyists don't even know they exist.
@@skywatcheradept calculus of battle is the only iron hands audio book I know that has kardan stronos.
@@robertflynn4215 and its very short. not a full novel like Eye of Medusa
@@skywatcheradept yah I know I was think from audiobook perspective. I have the primarch book of ferrus manus the Gorgon of Medusa.
Grimnar to the Inquisition fleet- Do you feel in charge?
I wish this book had an audiobook for it
Bjorn the Fell Handed and Mephiston the Lord of Death are my top favorite space marine characters hands down
I'd like to throw in Dante, Grimaldus, and *_MOTHERFUCKING SIGISMUND_* for consideration.
@@mattaffenit9898 they are cool too dante and sigismund are in my top 5 with bjorn and mephiston
@@christophercombs7561 Is the other marine in your top 5 by any chance Ancient Rylanor?
@@CidVeldoril mmm or garviel loken or sol tarvitz
Outside of primarchs Bjorn is definitely my favorite along with Logan and tyberos
The greatest of all Chapter Masters. Long live Grimnar!
Thank you
Debatable, highly debatable.
He's barely top 5
@@arjandosanj6131 cope and seethe
Woah woah woah Grimnar and Dante are head and shoulders above everyone (Except Tyberos)
Great Video. The Wolves are my second favorite Chapter and Grimnar is my Second Fav Wolf! (Lukas Strife-son is my #1)!
Having read about a dozen Warhammer books recently, I will say that Emperor's Gift doesn't feel like an 'old' read (compared to, say, the older Ultramarines or Space Wolves books). It's a great read.
What's been your top 5 books you recently read
@@Adrian_Zamora98 Good question! A lot of good ones, but I'd say:
1) Vaults of Terra: The Carrion Throne
2) Vaults of Terra: The Hollow Mountain
3) Dante
4) The Emperor's Spear
5) Watchers on the Throne: The Emperor’s Legion [One of, if not my favorite 40k book]
@Justin Gravatt interesting, I actually haven't read any of these. I think next I'll check out emperors legion, spear, and Dante!
I'll love that book to death.... If it hadn't became a space wolf fantasy half way through..... A Grey knight book where the GK get completely fucked over by Deus Ex Machinas and pure plot armor.
Grimnar certainly is my favorite Space Wolf and when I was introduced to the hobby in earnest he was the reason I like the Wolves as much as I do (possibly only rivaled by Russ in that). And ever since then he was the face of the Vlka Fenryka for me, even above Ragnar.
The brute force of The Space Wolves is impressive.
I know that there is little in the way of book lore on this wolf, but is there a chance that Arjac Rockfist could be the topic of a video? The Man's a beast and stands easily with some of the greatest of the Rout and other chapters
Not much in the way of books about him, but if I'm not mistaken he makes numerous short appearances here and there and has quite the recurring space in the series about the Thousand Sons's siege of Fenris.
Plus, thunder hammer Mjollnir is still thunder hammer Mjollnir.
Lukas the Trickster as well, easily one of the best characters in the chapter.
No one can follow in Logan’s boot prints! He is the only marine that can constantly sprint in power armor and wounded a primarch! Ragnar def has a weird about his and is destined for great and mighty deeds but his saga is but a candle compared to Logan’s Bonfire of a legend. Russ even appeared to him and acknowledged him while defending Fenris from Magnus and his evil sons! Long live Logan the Great Wolf! Long May He Reign!!!!!!
You've sold the book as a Christmas ' Emperor's gift!
Can we get a book with all the First Founding Chapter Masters just meeting up and bro-ing it out??
Meeting, wrestling and then swapping stories about their primarchs that have been past down. It’s a personal thought of mine but Roboute meeting with the first founding chapter masters and just having a 1 on 1 with them for hours to get caught up about the chapter. Custodes Captain General coming in later to join in. I really really want a meeting of Roboute and Grimnar meeting just themselves and Grimnar explains the Months of Shame, Roboute being completely pissed and putting the Grey Knights in a time out corner to humble them. “Leave my nephews alone, they know what they are doing”.
I would like to see Logan become a Primaris. He would be walking around in Mark X Gravis armor and be even more of a legend.
Whatever he sprints using a Terminator Armor
All future Space Wolves books should have a quota on the use of the word "Wolf/Wolves" and Wolf related words outside of the Chapter name.
Comes across a bit different in the book about Primaris SWs.
I think Grimnar is 600 years old but hasn’t been Great Wolf for the same period.
Bad writing is bad writing.
Trust GW to take a hero of the Imperium, grizzled by over 6 centuries of service with a history of looking out for the people and make him a petulant kid.
Whats funny is Logan isn't even one of the oldest wolves still alive. One of them he knows is 700 yrs old yet he barely looks aged at all where as Logan has grey hair and age lines. Just goes to show the burdens of being Great Wolf has had on Logan.
@@Makorze Yeah, presumably there are marines in his company older than him. Ulrik is probably the oldest not in a walking coffin as he was a Priest when Grimnar was still a Claw.
@@Makorze every Space Wolves that makes it past neophyte has a grey hair tho, it's one of the effects of the geneseed
Definitely top three! Second only to Dante
No inquisition can break our power the power of the founding legions, one day the legions are going to take back their position as one of the only powers beneath the emperor those powers been my brothers power and the custodes
Very true, people think this is a wolves thing but the founding chapters are just on another level, last time the inquisitor truer to exercise their powers in Ultramar, Cato Sicarius killed a Lord inquisitor
@@arjandosanj6131 that is true battle brother, now guard of the primarch Cato sicarius one day kill a inquisitor for trying to be what already Calgar is the master of the legion
The dude literally RUNS in Terminator armor
Enough said
"Heros like Cato Sicarius..." oh no oh no oh no OH NO WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!!!! YOU HAVE DOOMED US ALL! ....oh no i can hear them...they are coming...It's to late.
The emperor's gift
Is it on Audible?
How could you mention Him, Cato Sicarius, Former Captain of the Ultramarines 2nd Company, Commander of the Victrix Guard, Master of the Watch, Knight Champion of Macragge, Grand Duke of Talassar and High Suzerain of Ultramar without also mentioning His, Cato Sicarius', Former Captain of the Ultramarines 2nd Company, Commander of the Victrix Guard, Master of the Watch, Knight Champion of Macragge, Grand Duke of Talassar and High Suzerain of Ultramar titles?
Sad thing is that if he will not become a primaris, they will simply kill him or remove him and Ragnar will become a new leader. Fate of all non-primaris I guess.
Maybe his abilities r enhanced by the demon 😈 🤔
Grey knights aren't that special. They're just the bane of chaos.
Gene seed made direcly from the emperor is not special? Were each and everyone is a pycher of exceptional quality?
My only interaction of Grimnar was in Wolftime, and that book made him look like a complete bipolar buffoon. Made all the wolves appear to be mentally challenged.
That's what happens when you give a dark angels fan a wolf book to write.
Alpha Wolf.
Honestly it's still dumb that Grimnar kills a Grandmaster like he is a human. It's why people don't like the plot armor similar to the Ultramarines of Matt Ward and just doesn't make sense in lore. If it was a strike force commander then yes but a Grand Master it's ridiculous as he struggles to beat Greater Demons and Grand Masters have done that consistently without issue.
Does nobody else think it's absolute bullshit that he one shot killed a Gray Knights Grandmaster? That even if he did that he wasn't killed on the spot by the rest of the GKs?
People talk about the Ultramarines and their plot armor or OP nonsense, but the Space Wolves also get it in spades. The things they're depicted as able to do or get away with are insanity, not the least of which includes having a goddamn primarch kneel before Grimnar.
How is he able to run in terminator armour?
It is not imposible to run in termy armor but it needs skill and its not really the runing its the stoping is the biggest problem.
As to stop you need to stop your momentum some how most of then it is slowly easing the speed or smashing something bigger and heavier than you.
I think in Logans case he might have learned more than few tricks to manuver in that bulky suit as he still faevor close combat.
@@FrostWolfPack when you read it it sounds like it’s suppose to be impossible because of their bulk and size and his raw strength is overpowering the suits servo’s that aren’t designed to move that fast.
Logan Grimnar is to a Wolf Lord as Bjorn is to a Chapter Master.
Now while some may argue there are other great Chapter Masters, past and present, such as Sigismund being the best fighter to ever be a Chapter Master (High Marshall, no different to Great Wolf), the fact of the matter is for the role of a leader, none can compare to Bjorn. I'll skip his legend and focus on the fact he is still around to advise people, like Logan Grimnar. The effect this must have on Logan's growth as a leader cannot be truly calculated, but a significant influence is highly likely.
As for Ragnar being the next Great Wolf... No, not really in my opinion. First off i hope Logan see's the return of Russ who would take his title back. I see Ragnar being favoured by Russ and such being his right hand man in a sense, while Logan still has overall high command and his Wolf Lord of the 1st company for the rest of the wolves, for his tactical brilliance let alone anything else. To me that is kind of the dream team for Space Wolves. The other Lords and Heroes filtering about as needed.
If you really wanna shake the Lore up, Bjorn becomes primarius and herald’s in Russ’ return by questing into the eye and finding him.
@@HammarPwnsYourFace While I would love Bjorn to return in some format greater than a dreadnought, something more akin to a centurion maybe, ultimately in the end I know what I want. Sometime like the dawn of the 43rd millennium (far in the future basically), Bjorn (somewhat restored) and Logan Grimnar perish in an epic last stand side by side, the first and last Great Wolves Saga's ending together. (first and last Great Wolves not counting the Primarch who is THE Great Wolf.) If you kill those characters of, that's one of the few acceptable ways to me (I'm open to other ideas, got to be pretty epic tho).
@@TheStormfury spot on brother. The skaldic bards would tell epik tales for the ages to come for sure. Mayhap, they die bringing Russ back? Blend of old and new?
All hail Grimnar, champion of Khornate!
All channels this vox, Grimnar. Butcher the grey knights to the last.
I think the statement that applies to all the big chapter masters is 'beware an old man in a profession where men die young '
Grimnar is the Dante of the Wolves. Long lived, the epitome of his line. No primarch, but as close as you get.
Why do i think a buddy cop novel starring Grimnar and Tu'Shan would be epic?
One thing to remember about the Space Wolves is that their leaders are always to the front, so for Grimnar to have been the Great Wolf for 6 centuries means that the man's a true monster in battle! Really one of the coolest Space Marine out there, it's just a shame a lot of BL books don't do justice to the Wolves and the Old Wolf in particular.
1: Dante
2: Logan Grimnar
3: Marneus Calgar
4: Tu'Shan
5: Kayvaan Shrike
6. Gregor Dessian
7. Jubal Khan
8. Azrael
What about Tyberos
This is my most favorite video you’ve ever done and I’ve been watching you for years you have not repeated yourself everything has been forward I absolutely love this video thank you I hope to see more like this thank you
Guilliman bows before the High King? Which book has this event?
I would like to know that as well, I never heard of it
Its in the Dawn of Fire series, book 3, named the Wolftime.
@@Gargamel196 I was under the impression that Grimnar meet there with Guilliman representative, not the big blue guy himself
Wolftime. Girlyman hinself awaits Grimnar in the Great hall. When grimnar arrives , daddy smurf is describes as towering over the great wolf even while sitting. But he rises and takes the knee. The scene is described as "a pup staring down a thunder wolf"
I’d love to read the book but it’s not on audible and I can’t find it here☹️.
Logan has probably gotten to where he is more by the intangibles than his actions. His deeds strike fast at building a reputation, it does for anyone. But his demeanor, decisions, character and integrity go farther in solidifying one's legacy. He stands proudly among those other legendary characters and chapter masters if not just slightly above. For his stance at Armageddon and facing off against the Inquisition alone he has set a high bar, but he is more than just those instances. He is just and fair in a skewed universe without the impetuous outbursts that have both positively and negatively been Blackmane's Bane. Should Ragnar eventually rise to the position, he would have to shed his impetuousness and be far more deliberate and thoughtful in his decisions and actions. Without doing so, I find it would be difficult for the other Wolf Lords to elect him to the position of Great Wolf
Well Blackmane by age is still a Blood Claw so him being very hot blooded is to be expected and he will for sure temper his outburst in time as his hair turn to grey
Easy to kill someone who doesn't expect it
Is it me or do tge original founded chapters always seem to have the most badass chapter masters? I’m not saying that the successive chapters don’t have awesome people but it always seems that the most bad ass come from the OG legions.
Think about it if you go and look at all the OG Legion chapters you always find the most badass. It must be something because your original founder and you just have that gravitas and it seeps through and in to the characters
After reading the wolf time novel from the dawn of fire series, I lost a lot of respect the wolves and Grimmnar. Just bad decision after bad decision, mixed with supreme arrogance. That opinion didn't really change by the end. For all the talk of being allies to the imperium and the All Father, they sure seemed to treat everything like a threat with no evidence and that's not stubbornness it's stupidity. I've never thought much of Russ or the wolves before. I hope this ADB recommendation helps change that.
I mean that had just come off the back of the Dark Angels, Ultramarines, Iron Hands, Howling griffins, etc. Attacking Fenris, they have good reason to think it's a threat because the Imperium keeps trying to destroy them.
I think that he demands the respect because he is the Alpha. And the have to keep the pack in check . He always going to be challenged by young alphas so he have to keep that posture.
