Awesome pushing the limits of BFS. Just Wow!
Thx! Gonna try again as I want to try to land a bigger fish
Heck yea 👍i always love micro fishing. Ive been micro fishing for a good while now. Ive even use those trout lines lower than 1lb test. I have caught couple big 2lb+ fishes on them. I havent broke off yet with more than 50+ fishes from bait fish to at least 2.5lber.
I have a long way to go before I can get to your level lol! Lower than 1 lb? Geez those micro anglers truly got the smallest hooks and line!
@@rawrfishing yup smallest hook i have right now is a size 28 and 24 even small little bobbers smaller than our pinkies lol especially the extremely small split shot. Omg. Try it out. Youll be surprise how small of a fish youll catch. My smallest is those little itty bitty river minnows or i guess its probably called mosquito fish or something. Anyways love what you doin. Keep the vidz comming👊
@@BillaBong1 i used to buy them tiny fly hooks and used bread to catch creek fishes by my house. Didn't know that there were line that thin as a kid lol
Great job , I would never try this because I would be afraid to snap the line!
Thx man! Gonna do it a few more times lol
That was fun. 2.3# (.117 mm) ester line has been my mainstay for the past couple years. It helps to have a net for landing since that's when they tend to break off. Also remember knots, even good ones, reduce the line strength.
oh yeah! I definitely want a landing net next time i try because I know there will be some goooood size fish while kayak fishing! :) i went to a small aged manmade lake that is pretty much shallow. dunno what is in there lol. then i went down the spillway into the office complex.. fished it a bit only finding out later that I was trespassing.. i guess Covid have gotten people to fish there and we fishermen are no longer wanted there >_< .. Any how! I wanna try that ester line!
@@rawrfishing the orange Varivas Area Super Trout Master Limited 2.3# is excellent. Sensitivity is amazing but line management is difficult. Spinning reel only. Would be a disaster on BFS. Best use is kayak fishing when using small jig heads (under 2 g). Ester has no stretch, so most people use a leader to add protection. I like to use a soft rod as well.
still have to tie to the clasp :P
4lb is the lowest I feel comfortable fishing ultralight. Even fishing for micros. You never know what's going to show up.
Oh for sure! That's why I wanna try it in case I land a biggie on it! Challenges like these are better than them stupid 25 dollar Walmart fishing challenges as these teach you how to finesse better.
Hope all is well with your family and little Jimbo , glad to see the hurricane just stirred up the atmosphere. Just got back from fishing with my little ones got settled down, chips with hot sauce than boom rawr noti gang , guess it was meant to be lol
thanks man! Yeah life needs some catching up. As you can see, I can only put out one video a week since the nado came. I went out a few times after the storm and bites have been terrible. Glad i had this footage from August lol! Hot sauce and chips? wahh????? what u dipping?
@@rawrfishing Mexican snacking hot sauce for fruits chips whatever u like lol it's called Valentina. Man rarwr I tried wacky worming last night for the first time and I felt dumb but than I caught two one pounders and I felt like a bfs zephyr master lol missed two big ones tho , the fishing will be back in full swing for ya I betcha!
Nice! I haven't wacky rigged in a long time. Not an advocate for a rig that loses or breaks plastic fast as most anglers would just litter their plastics after they are done.
Hey Jimbo you said you wanted to do a bfs rod review video for us I was wondering if you could throw in a 4.6 Ugly Stik it's like 40 bucks at Walmart it's like a straight-up budget finnesse system paired with the zephyr i've been using it and I've thoroughly enjoyed it 😄
I will consider it! right now I need to focus on clearing the plate as well as handling what's coming in. I'll put it on the list :P
Hiya Jimbo. Yeh a BFS rod review would be awesome! I'm currently looking at the Dragon 702 you use to give a slightly longer option to help keep fish clear nearside cover but the Dobyns rod came up in conversation the other day with a friend. Not a brand we see over here in the UK as far as I know, but there is interest. Keep it up fella, Great content.
It's a US brand and it's a bit pricey, but it's a stiff rod. Great for most hard hooksets rigs. I got these two rods ^_^
Dang bro , you the man . 4lb test is about as brave as I get with my ultralight setup
I should try tread next time lol
Love the video I’m a new subscriber and love the epf swim bait always catches fish
Thx! Oh them ET baits slays! I am more of the b vibe fan guy, but I can sling the baby swimbait around on bfs... ppl go ape nuts ^_^
What rod are you useing in your vid? Looking for a bfs rod to cast under 1/16 lures ?
Tsu ares c472UL
Sup Jimmy, omg 1lb test lol. Well works even a bass! Damn broke line. Omg lol a frog on 1lb lol, wow can't believe that bass on frog. Your the man👍. Ty tc
Oh that was a different setup lol. No 1 lb on that last catch. :p
@@rawrfishing oh lol didn't notice switch. But what you did with 1lb incredible. Never even saw 1lb lol
@@ronaldyeater3322 lol... yeah it's an interesting line and fun
Online outdoorsman on UA-cam makes some finesse soft plastic. U should check it out. It's called mule fishing
I have em! Ethan sent some over :p
lowest ive gone is 2lb mate your going super finesse with the 1lb im going to have to try it now and see how i go
Yeah had to go to the extreme lol
thats crazy stuff man
It's fun lol
I have a Alphas Air TW that I plan to fish with 2# test line but am concerned the line will get caught between the spool and side frame. Was this a issue when fishing the 1# test line?
I didn't run into that and I even have an after market spool. I also Set the brakes higher just in case as I was a bit scared too
@@rawrfishing Thanks for the information. You did a great job with the 1# test mono but too scary for me to try both from a line management issue and line break offs.
it was fun to play and put my skills to the test. practice makes perfect! i would certainly do it again!
My only concern with 1lb test and trout would be their teeth. They may not be pike or pickerel but a good sized male trout can still rough up your line
If its that big and got good teeth, imagine landing it tho! Would be quite rewarding!
Bro I caught a 18” striper on 4Lb test, and felt like he was gona jump and I’ll lose it. I cannot image catching even a LMB or smallie on 1lb. I’ll constantly give it drag and try to net it.
Oh man! that's a nice catch! I have caught some mondo carp on 4lb test line. insane size fish lol.. i often lose if i snag them tho. they never come in haha
Do you think your spit could break down the line and make it weaker?
Cinching down the knot in a bowl of water may be better for it.
I doubt it... but if you are gonna carry a bowl of water every where you fish lol....
I was thinking more for tying on before you go fish. When you’re fishing just dip it down into the water. It wouldn’t even cross my mind if you weren’t fishing with spider web lmao
@@jasonmorgan4108 but u also will tie lures throughout the day. Which was why I asked about the bowl, but yes I dip into the water all the time to tie too. Saliva been used for decades for line tying so I don't think it be a problem. If your saliva can melt mono... I would be worried about the person kissing ya lol
Do you think your Alphas can cast a spool of sewing thread?
Perhaps it can cast some! Lol
@@rawrfishing could thread actually be stronger than 1lb test? HMMM
depends, but not all thread have the shock that fishing braided line have
Wow..Mantap brader..😎👍
Thx i appreciate it! 👍👍
I only can go 2 pound I feel like I would snap off every single cast
Definitely not made for heavy lures and hard casting lol
Which is better Jimbo, Shimano Alderbaren BFS or Daiwa Alphas Air?
Alphas air can cast lower weight. Especially if you add the roro spool and some bearings. I generally prefer my Aldebaran for most BFS fishing. If I'm going super small like he is here I use the Alphas air. Can't really go wrong with either one. To me the Aldebaran just feels better.
The daiwa requires no cleaning or maintenance and can cast super light lures.
If ur throwing light lures, The AA TW Is better. If ur throwing bigger lures, the alde be better!
@@mattnguyen1672 wait what? All reels require maintenance, I’m not sure I believe this claim.
Yeah i agree all tackle must have maintenance
4# fluorocarbon is all that's needed.
That isn't the challenge
Fishing 1lb around lily pads? You're braver than me.
Challenge called for extreme measures lol. Walking around the pond once with no bite... I had to do it haha
That’s a nice reel. Is it worth $400?
This isn't the PE version one. Closer to 325 shipped sometimes. And yes... best UL bfs reel out of the box
Dang 1lb test? Das small lol
oh yeah man! totally thin stuff
@@rawrfishing lol jimmy if you tried putting 1lb test line on the zephyr it would get trapped in the spool so much
It doesn't cast lures that light anyway. backlash is what causes line to get trapped. Using heavier lures with thin line is asking for it to snap :P lol
@@rawrfishing true ive discovered 1/8th ounce lures cast a mile with it tho so 3/32 and 3/16th ounce jigheads should be great
