Holly my wife grew up right down the street from where you ended your video she was there for 1962 to 2001. Bayside home games with her father's store Richard Entel! An arcade. She remembers the bank clock, Jack's Pizza and the stairs you walked up. 😊. PS 169 was her elementary school. Jordan Belfort, The Wolf of Wall Street was in her class in that school 😂. They all were friends. Her father was part of the Jewish Gangster scene. Thank you for showing us it brought back wonderful memories 💕
I spent almost every weekend of my teenage years at the Bay Terrace shopping center in the late 90s/early 2000s. It was definitely a bit smaller then, but the nice thing was it grew with me. So as I progressed, it kept expanding. That's when the AMC theatre was built. There was originally a much smaller Lowe's theatre on the first level, but that closed down in the mid 90s, and AMC was built. It was a pretty long, isolated trek to get there originally, not a lot was built up top, so as a teenager it always made me nervous because it was so desolate. The theatre was great though, beautiful and brand new. I loved it all. Oh and thank you for stopping at Claire's and Bath and Body works for a few seconds. I love that it's still there, brought me back to a simpler time
14:55 that’s the school my dad went to in the 1970’s. wow thanks for this video man, brings memories, my grandparents and parents were born and raised here.
My home town! That shopping center used to have only half those shops. My folks still live in those condos behind the center. That Applebee’s used to be the movie theater and the Stop n Shop used to be a bowling alley.
I live in neighboring Auburndale. Bayside has one of the strongest public school districts in all of NYC (district 26Q) which makes it attractive to young families and part of the reason that the single family private homes you walked by cost over $1M. Also, there is an express bus into midtown that starts/ends at Bay Terrace. Even though crime is up, relatively speaking, Bayside, north of Northern Blvd. is pretty safe. COVID has hit these businesses hard. The empty store next to Applebee’s was a Victoria’s Secret. Footlocker closed and all Justice stores are converting to online only and closing all shops. You didn’t have to walk across and go up the stairs. You could also walk up through the covered parking lot (behind Old Navy) and end up at the movie theater, 5 Guys, etc.
I used to go to the FYE and Barnes & Noble that used to be at that shopping center. Q13 bus. I believe the B&N that was there was the last one to close down in Queens. Also, they shot a movie at this shopping center years ago called “Before The Devil Knows You’re Dead” starring Ethan Hawke and Phillip Seymour Hoffman (RIP) and directed by Sidney Lumet (RIP).
I appreciate your direction, you lead people to the most Profound places. Filled with Life. Thank you , Thankyou, Thank you, Thank you for sharing your Journey with me I Respect your Work. Again Thank you Action Man. Respect
I lived in that neighborhood from 1978 to 1987. I swear, the area you traipsed through has changed not at all. Only the vehicles are different. It's a bit scary really.
This is such a wonderful tour. New York City is such a perfect destination for many travelers. This is such a wonderful experience. I really enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing. :)
That pinball arcade was my wife's father's Side Entel. That was featured in a book called pinball wizard. She says that used to go to the pizza place after school.
The Gables is right past the Bay Terrace shopping center as you head into the town of Bayside. I lived in Bay Country for 18 years and took many walks through The Gables down to the Bay and the pier
Fort totten is a park. There is reserve units there. Coast guard, fire dept training facility and historical society there. There are ball fields and public pool. As well as the historical battlements . Its very beautiful and nice to walk.or ride through. On Halloween there is a haunted tour and other events throughout the year.
Hi Action kid, I love your shows I love Queens, Used to attend Flushing High School, my sister was stationed at Fort Totten during Desert Storm, Love your program
After I met your channel “Action Kid”, every day I watch at least one video of you, congratulations on your work. I would like to know if you are not tired of holding the gimbal in the same position for more than hours?
Im a fan of the movie Lords of Flatbush, is this a real city?..if so, like to see it.......love your vids, you do all the walking for me! LOL....Take care be safe/healthy..
I wanted to correct the description you gave walking west on 16th Avenue. Those garden apartments in numerous courtyards are cooperative apartments - not condominiums. Within Bay Terrace there are several co-ops and condominiums including two buildings that are strictly rental buildings - one of them was the Bellshire on Bell Blvd that you pointed out as you walked by.
I was very surprised to see a cone on the sidewalk, unlike most parts of NYC, Queens is more of the easier places to find parking ( most people who live in hard to Park areas always possess a orange cone). If you’re able to afford a home in this area, it’s best you hold onto it with a kung fu grip as property values will probably double before the end of the decade
You could always use the parking in the plaza so long as it’s daytime and slightly evening but that particular area has a lot of alternate side of the street parking rules
@@yell0wberry You may be confusing Bay Terrace with another neighborhood. There are no alternate side of the street parking in Bay Terrace or anywhere in Northeast Queens. ASP starts further west from here - perhaps around 164th Street.
@@philkonigsberg5843 I think you may be confusing what alternate side of the street parking is, there is no way in hell that area has every single stretch of street allocated for unlimited parking. Sanitation does their street cleanings from time to time and the signs are posted telling people when they cannot park there for such a purpose whether or not sanitation actually shows up to do their duty
@Runner Girl I've been following him since the snow walks from 2017. At that time he hasn't spoken in the videos, since than I've been a huge fan, his videos are kind of magical.

@Runner Girl Runner Girl, thats just how you say it, his Videos are so calm and basic with no frills and thats where the magic lies. My favorite for a long time has been the bike tour from bear mountain to NYC
@actionkid 8:28, I don't think she was being nice, maybe you play it off as nice, but it's not. I often read you like you're explaining yourself for some kind of acceptance... "ohhhh, it's for my youtube channel, I make videos of NY" But anytime you get asked or stopped on the street with the question is "what are you doing?" its confrontational. Anyway, walk free my friend, you can film whatever the hell you want!
Although I’m writing this a year later after your above comment, “still a lot theft happens” is not accurate. There is no theft or crime issue in Bay Terrace.
@@ActionKid Theft is not an issue in Bay Terrace - we are in the 109th Pct and if you want further information you can call the precinct and ask if this area has a crime problem.

How do you film? Using a gimbal or is the camera attached to you like a body cam?
