    May I ask a silly question: when you cut out your pockets, do you have to cut two pockets right side up and two right side down? I've been having pocket issues lately 😊

    • @MassonLifestyle
      @MassonLifestyle  3 роки тому +2

      Yes you do. Just double up the fabric and cut. That will give you the front and the back pieces. If it's easier, just look at the fabric cutting layout in the pattern and that should help you layout the fabric and know which pieces to cut... and how many. They are like sleeves, they can be tricky because you need a right and left side to cut!

    Hi, love your video, but I have had the darndest time with the pattern. Thing is I have done patterns before. This time for some reason it’s just got me. I realize this is an old video so hopefully you’ll see this soon. With the interfacing can you clarify on this a bit.? Did you do a short video maybe that you didn’t post? Maybe that you’d be willing to upload now? I just don’t want to interface the wrong part of my pieces. I know how to do it but I’m not sure I cut my pattern out properly that’s the real issue.😢
    I was hoping your video showed that part. I just fell in love with this pattern and thought I would be good. It’s just been too long I guess.
    Hopefully you’ll see this video
    Thank you again.
    😊

      Sarah look back at the pattern pieces. Piece No. 1 is the piece for the front. You see where it says "Fold Line for Interfacing. You have to interface from that Line (based on your size) To the raw edge in the center. That all there is to it. You got this.

    You said you took the sides in quite a bit. Which seam did you take in? Bc the pockets are on the sides and the button band is on the front. Thanks!

    • @MassonLifestyle
      @MassonLifestyle  3 роки тому +1

      I took in the sides seams and the back seam, Even when I took in the sides about an inch I can still put my hand in the pockets, with no problems. In the video I mention to try on the skirt before you put in the waist band. Baste those seams in the back and the sides. Once the skirt is to your liking, then stitch with the regular length stitches and of course lock in your stitches at the start and at the end. I also tapered my skirt. Think of it as a triangle and I just tapered the sides so it doesn't flare out as much. Its a great pattern, and you can make it in so many different fabrics. I did linen but seersucker would be a good one for summer.

      When you took in the side seams, you didn't have to adjust the waist band?

    • @MassonLifestyle
      @MassonLifestyle  3 роки тому

      @@doctriestosew4333 I did it before I put in the waist band, BUT to answer your question yes, I adjusted the waist band. So whatever you take in, you take in on the waistband.

    How come you have 4 pieces for yr band?

    At 3:16 what is under the folded edge I’ve been giving up every time I get to that point😂

    • @MassonLifestyle
      @MassonLifestyle  7 місяців тому

      It is interfaced, you need to make sure you put interfacing in this are. So you have the folded piece and you need to interface it so when you do the buttonholes or set the buttons that this area is reinforced since it’s the placket. Let me know if you need any other help. Happy to help.

    What's the difference between baste and stitch? Do you mean tack?

    • @MassonLifestyle
      @MassonLifestyle  2 роки тому +1

      Basting is using long stitches and not locking in your stitches so you can try things on before you stitch them in. So yes you can also tack it in, essentially hold it in place but not permanently.

      @@MassonLifestyle alfa here, I’ll get the pattern numbers. Vogue v8831. I also have v8699 but have not tried it yet. So disappointing when it’s a disaster. Getting the right fabric is a big part. I’m only 5 3 and a 14. I’m getting chunky at 74. If you ever do one of these patterns it might help me and others with fabric choice. Thanks. @@alfa5243 I just looked at that pattern, thats a really cute top!!!!!! I wonder if I can find it. It would be a good one for fall and winter too! I wear a ton of scarves because my sewing studio is in the basement so it gets cold down here in the winter.

    I don’t know why but I can’t get the waist band to fit the skirt it’s too small anyone else have this problem?

    • @MassonLifestyle
      @MassonLifestyle  2 роки тому

      Hi Tamara, what seam allowance are you using? can you try playing with the amount of seam allowance so it can give you some wiggle room and it can fit the skirt? Another thing did you omit or forgot to do the pleats?
