Kia ora from New Zealand. I have recently started watching uour UA-cam videos. I love watching you sewing your projects. I have just made this dress. Such an easy make. I used interfacing on the sleeves and hem and a twin needle which worked just fine. I have now subscribed to your channel.

When you have a serger you just will automatically finish your seams. To me the garment just looks better. You are such a good teacher, I have been sewing for over 60 years and you use the same methods I do. Love your channel .

I make a very similar knit dress and I uske a twin needle for the hems and cuffs and round the neck. This gives a nice straight stitch but is still stretchy.
I like the soft knit fabric and how the dress fits you. I enjoyed watching this video with your helpful tips. Take care & thank you!

You could serge the edges of the sleeves and then make a narrow hem.
Great sew along for such a cute dress, Brittany! Thanks for including the links for serging/sewing darts. I generally always use interfacing for knit hems and when top stitching with a straight stitch, increase the stitch length to 3.0 or 3.5. I like finishing the seams when sewing knits, too. The finish looks more professional and I feel it helps the garment last longer.

The fabric is fabulous and it looks fabulous on you. I have sewn for many years and just realized with the pockets I am only suppose to clip the back seam. Bonus!

Just for fun idea. My 3 year old granddaughter painted some river rocks for fun. I use them as pattern weights. She loves seeing me use them.

Another success! You could have used bias binding on your sleeve hems or some (Viv Mom) have suggested using folded elastic. I have not ever used that in my years of sewing , but Amazon has tons of it.

So, I made my hubby simple elastic waist pj pants. I used the finished garment measurements for his waist and hips. Y’all, they were HUGE! Everywhere! I had to rip it all out and make a small all around! Maybe the muslin fabric idea is best??? I have a hard time with my clothes, too!

Brittany, your sewing skills are great and your clothes look really good on you. I have a suggestion. Look at your back piece in process. Wouldn’t it look so much better if you omitted the back seam?? Cut it on the fold instead of two separate pieces.

Beautifully done. I am not comfortable sewing knits, but you make it look easy.
Love your video! Here's a Tip - use a bodkin instead of a safety pin. They are much easier to use to pull elastic through a casing. There are alot of different ones - I like the metal ones with teeth to grip the elastic and a ring to close the bodkin onto the elastic. I have had safety pins open up inside the casing and it is no fun to solve.

this video helped me SO much!! thank you. Try #3 was the successful one...first too long, then too big, and then just right. And my 'underneath' looks way better too - neater seams etc. Now time for a new machine that doesnt skip the zigzag stitches :-)
