- For this weeks landscape photography video, I explore as many nooks and crannies of Clydach Gorge as possible before the British Spring weather takes me by surprise! Armed with my Nikon D750, I practise some more waterfall photography.
Thank you for watching this video! If you did enjoy it, let me know in the comment section down below!

Loved the image with the viaduct in the background 😁
Lovely 3 part image - foreground, middle and distance. I see the waterfall first - point of most contrast. Thanks for risking life and limb.
Your last photo in this video is probably one of my favorites of all that you shared and that’s saying a lot.
"Nope, this is how horror movies start!" 😂
Some lovely images in this one, Courtney, but the 'Downpour' image was absolutely gorgeous. Great video 🖖
Hhaha I laughed when she said that!
I was expecting someone to emerge from the darkness haha. I don't think I'd have survived the shock! Thanks David!
The Downpour is great. My eye went from the tree trunk, then quickly to the waterfall, then lastly the viaduct. It just felt like those first to subjects led me to the viaduct. I liked all the images. I always like the little bits of humor you sprinkle into your videos.
Laughed at the horror film quote 🤣
Tree trunk, viaduct for me....Great image..👍
Hey Courtney,
today fortuitous I found your youtube channel. I watched some of your forest videos and like them. I lke the way you are doing your video and your photography. Will check out your sozial media channels too.
You are doing a great job and your captures are amazing. In this video, "DOWNPOUR" is my favorite one. Its an unbelivalble good pic. I like the composition and the colors.
Thanks for showing them to us
Greetings from Rhineland-Palatinate (Germany)
Christian
Great spot , well done . Do like the log leading up to falls then to viaduct great shot !
Hi Courtney. I watch your channel for two reasons. Your eye for composition and your thought process before you take or skip the shot. AND That super-wide zoom. It’s a lens that I normally would skip over, but now I’m considering one.
Tree trunk, fall and then viaduct (Brighest parts in order).
I suppose if you wanted to go to the waterfall first then darken highlight on the log.
The image is great as it is though and worth of anyone's wall.
Again a gently humorous and interesting video😃
Nice vlog with some lovely images and nice humour...
My eyes go right to the waterfalls...boom
Downpour sure was a stunning image! My eyes went for the massive, cathedral looking viaduct! Loved it😊
Courtney, thank you for sharing the beautiful places you visit and the amazing photos you capture. You obviously have a gift for incredible composition and it is a joy to watch your videos.
I was drawn to the waterfall first due to the contrast, then the log and then the viaduct!
Like your videos and the photos you make a lot. Lovely humor you have. Greetings from the Netherlands!
6:34 Awesome capture, Front to back for me, tree trunk, waterfall and viaduct fyi
Nice work. Like to your shots !
Courtney, I just came across your channel today, great photos, Downpour is my favorite. BTW my eyes were drawn to the tree first. :)
Hi Courtney. My eye goes to the Viaduct first. Nice video 🙏🙂
I really like your videos. I really like that you show how you frame the image, using that grid. I really like you, the way you talk and that we use the same body.
I wish you a good day and much success.
At 0:19 in I saw a little bug, maybe a spider, on the right side of your backpack crawl away just before you raised the flap. Are Cancers afraid of spiders? This was another great vlog and I’ll add that I think you’ve mastered the Nikon D750. It’s been said that most of us humans are drawn to water because our bodies are between 60 to 65% water. To answer your question at the end - my eye went directly to the big log in the foreground first. 😎💦🌊💦😎
Great images and I like the tree trunk in the foreground and in my opinion helps to leads you into the image. One suggestion if I may, please buy yourself a pair of "muck boots" as those wellies you have are hopeless out doors away from a flat pavement. You will be much safer. Best wishes and thank you for sharing your videos.
Thanks Courtney for sharing the great location and pics...my eyes were initially drawn to the tree trunk on the left & then the waterfall... however I love any compositions with waterfalls as they always appear to be alive....your videos are always beautifully presented. & I love watching them & listening to your commentary.... cheers from Australia 😀❤️
Really liked the second image Courtney, and the Downpour image was also very nice, thanks for sharing.
Some great photos! I actually laughed out loud at the horror movies line...what was the music? 😂
Always enjoy your videos and the way you present them Courtney.
Great images, Courtney! Looking forward to the next vlog. Be well
the last shot was th ebest for me. I still shoot with my d750 too.
Kemayu men Nduk Kowe 😀😀
A regular place for me and many more places to explore if you ever get back. Look for the phreatic zone online for Clydach gorgeeness :) Btw, to get to the other side of that 1st waterfall cross further up stream and there is a rop on the other side to help you down - but don't tell anyone ;) Liked the images from Crochan but your best for me was the one under the viaduct, as Phil says below - nice edit.
Some beautiful images as usual. That last one, my eye was drawn to the log, then the viaduct, then the falls. It worked though 👌
A Cancer the Crab my self and don't put any stock in astrology, but I'm also drawn to water as an element for my images. 😀 Great video, and loved the part about where horror movies start. 😆
Terrific images in today’s video. The third one, to me, was the best. I did miss your “happy dance” when you found the second falls!
Thanks Stuart! I think I'd have ended up in the river somehow if I had attempted a bit of a dance ha!
@@CourtneyVictoria Your work, stills and video are excellent. Keep those posts coming.
Great video you are doing a great job 😊
I'm drawn to waterfalls as well. I love the water but prefer to have my feet firmly on the ground, don't like deep water where I can't touch the bottom. I had forgotten that water falls under the sign of Cancer which I do as well. Explains why I like it then. LOL. Lovely images. My eye went to the log first then right to the waterfall then up to the viaduct.
Oh yes I am the same! Feet dry and on the ground! It almost ruined my day when I managed to fall into the brook before filming and flood my wellies lol!
Cara Victoria le tue foto saranno belle, ma tu sei bellissima!!! 🤩
Very interesting and pretty visual!
As always lovely photos sometimes to get across its wellies and socks off and go for a paddle. Mind you an afternoon out with you must be an absolute hoot.
Oooh why didn't I think of that ha! Mental note, next time go for a swim.
That last shot was amazing! I really should learn to ‘Stack’! Really enjoying your channel and deserve so many more subscribers. Keep up the great work 👍
I missed your dance in this video ;) I like your approach to photography. Looking forward to the next video.
I'm practising my dance moves as we speak ha! Thank you, Thomas!
You take amazing photos! I really enjoy seeing your images and like the presentation of your videos. I just found your channel and it has quickly become one of my favorites. Keep up the awesome work.
Awesome video Thanks ❤️🙌🏻
“Nope this is how horror movies start” Brilliant ! Great video!
Certainly a bountiful location for images. I think the fallen tree distracts to some extent. Stay dry. ☂ 👍🥂
Gorgeous images and gorgeous girl, what’s not to like? Really great jot Courtney. 👍
Regards,
Dazza. 🇬🇧
Thank you very much!
6:36 love this one
Navigational challenges aside, you came away with some very nice images. I thought Waterfall Cove was especially strong. Cheers!
No dancing and stretching? I miss those.
Very nice images, great atmosphere with the dampness.
I didn't trust myself to dance on that terrain haha! I'd have ended up in the river a second time that day. Although it may have made comedy gold on camera!
@@CourtneyVictoria Haha, yes it surely would have!
Lovely images as always especially the last one. You would love a place called Llennyrch and Coed Felinrhyd in Snowdonia, more waterfalls and mossy goodness than you can shake a stick at.
Thanks Paul, I'll pop those on my 'to explore' list! I've been itching to visit Snowdonia for some time, so fingers crossed I can find a good few days to do so.
@@CourtneyVictoria Definitely worth an adventure when you get chance. You’d love Fairy Glen, the old Roman Bridge in Penmachno and the forests around Betws-y-coed too. 💦🌳
You have a good sense of frame! Im a professional photographer I feel it! You are a funny girl!:)
Eye went to the tree first, didn't really want it to. But loved the other photos and the explanation of thought processes and the humour. Stay dry.
I do enjoy your videos, good as always. Ps I’m accident prone as well especially at waterfalls destroying my 24-70 f2.8 Nikkor lol 😂
Beautiful photos Courtney. Waterfall Cove is gorgeous. In the last image I find the tree a bit too dominant in the frame? The falls and viaduct are the important subjects for me. Great vlog once again.
Thank you Wayne, I appreciate your opinion on the last image! Hopefully next time I can try out a few more composition ideas and see how it looks without that tree trunk too.
Brill 👍🏻
Beautiful shots 😁
Great video! Keep in mind 6” or more of moving water is enough to sweep a full grown person of their feet! Be careful. -Photography/Rescue Technician
Hehe, your subtle humour made me giggle. Sub'd!
Nice compositions! Drawn to the waterfall first but all 3 key elements work well together.
Nice video and very nice images. Subscribed.
No this is how horror movies start 😂😂😂😂, great shots 👌🏾
I do like your 'downpour' image Courtney. In answer to your question, my eye is drawn immediately to the tree trunk on the left. Perhaps not where you're wanting the viewer to look but I really like the light falling on it. Hope you didn't get too much of a soaking!
I managed to pack up and set off just as the rain became torrential. I may have stuck it out a little longer if it wasn't for the thunder and lightening. Thank you, I appreciate your feedback on the last image!
As always great photos and amazing places!
The photo you showed in the end, for me the first thing caught in my eyes was the tree.
Oh and I'm finally going abroad to travel, it will mostly be a city but still it's finally travelling! Going to Austria to Vienna and I might get out of the city for a day or so as well
That's great! I hope you're taking your camera with you ha!
@@CourtneyVictoria Obviously! there's no other way! Just having some hard time to decide on the lenses to keep it light
I understand this is an old video but at 5 minutes - the small fall you are at, how do you get there? I have been to this place twice and other than the blocked path (fallen tree) and the stupid steep hill that leads to a road I can not seem to find anywhere else that I can access?? Great pics by the way.
I agree, water does add a lot of magic... I drift toward water often (photography, not generally... I'm no mermaid! merman? is that a thing? probably)
Hi from New Zealand. I love the places you visit and photos you take. Gives me the inspiration to get out there and experiment. I notice that you have a grid on the rear screen of the D750. I have looked through the menu but cannot find a setting for this even in the manual. Could you advise me how to access the grid. Thanks in advance.
Hi Alan, that's great you've been getting out and experimenting! To turn on the grid just press the Info button to the right of the screen. You may have to press it a few times to find it but you can access your histogram, grid and a couple of other things there too! Hope that helps!
Ever give any thought about " waders" that fly fishing people wear? They are higher. Made for slippery surfaces in bottom of streams and rivers..,?
❤
I enjoy your videos! 🙂 I used to have a D750 but sold it and got a Sony A7IV - really liking it so far. Have you thought of going mirror-less?
That viaduct is scary. The whole place is scary, come to think of it. I wouldn’t have gotten anywhere near it, myself. What do you use to process your stack? Helicon?
Thanks
🥰🥰🤩🤩🤩
Great images, there’s is a cool little passageway connecting both tunnels if you ever revisit the location :)
Ooh I'll definitely check that out next time, thanks!
tq..i like you video...from malaysia
That one with the viaduct is a belter. You tend not to see composition like that.
It would be awesome if someone walks by and see you recording yourself and speaking alone jajajja
I'm sure lots of people do but I just don't notice them ha! It probably looks very weird!
If fear was out of the equation maybe u are drawn to water 🧐
I perfer my waterfall shots tack sharp, not blurry like an unfocused photo.
What I love about waterfall photography is there is no wrong shutter speed! It all comes down to personal preference.
@@CourtneyVictoria yep, so many youtubers say one has to use long shutter for water. When one does photography for others too see, they should show different ways of doing a photo. One youtuber had the nerve to say anything but slow shutter speed was totally wrong for water shots.
