Opelika was worst then stop it. Opelika looks better yhan it ever has. They are still building up but they really need a big car factory to bring jobs here. The reason Opelika downtown area looks so empty is because of Tiger town and 280. I really don't know why it looks so empty but maybe it's a Sunday when, everything was closed.
Agree. But only in certain areas. There are other areas, that have clearly flourished and grown exponentially. Undoubtedly, it would take a social experiment to explain why.
Seems like the ghost towns in the Northeast. They were really nice once, and thriving but now are barely hanging on with all the good jobs long gone and no tax base.
Surreal. It took until 7:55 minutes in to see an actual human, and then those were the only ones. Almost like there was a plague, and they were the last survivors. Signs of life here there, a few passing cars, sound of a train, but no life.
Yeah, thats why people here wont die in droves like they will in florida.. wake up call.. There is a plague!!!!! These people will be back in business soon i am glad to be here i feel safer than florida with covid. Its really scary in florida people just dont care. Also its a sunday people go to church and dinner at home so.. its small town usa... any even time square is empty.. i watch a youtuber there thats a ghost town. Only place not a ghost town is florida thats why 250 people are dying a day..
After watching your prior Opelika. vid, YT suggested another about the town- it was a lady unhappy with sewage backup. Hopefully the city you land in will have enough budget for necessary town services.
My dads side of the the family was born and raised here the Lockhart s most of them still live there I had the best summer vacations there as a child visiting my family.
tienen MUCHAS tiendas y esta cerca de AUBURN an awesome town. hey also have a great historic district of homes. and not far from ATL if you miss miami type stuff.
I think this was during the main panic of corona during summer of 2020 plus this is during mid-day so everyone was probably at work. If you see downtown at night especially on weekends it's really busy especially during the summer months. Lot's of good restuarants are here.
@@Bailey-hf7he alabama is a dead state they close crap down on sunday and till tuesday at best. in Florida could be 4 AM on a rainy sunday and it live. I woke up in delray beach on a sunday rainy, to see a homeles guy throwing up outside my hotel room sidewalk LOL
@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS I wouldn't say it's dead, but slower than most in alot of ways. Hell I'd rather live somewhere here than in a place like New York or California. Less drama and bs to put up with lol.
Saludos amigo. Muy bonito lugar y bien organizado y limpio. Gracias...
Wow, it's amazing how much things have changed. I left Opelika in 1986 when I joined the Navy. It seems like a shell of what it used to be.

Because of this video, I could come up with beautiful moments there in my mind. Thank you. Really miss the town and everything about Opelika.

This is anything but a ghost town. The population is over 100k in the twin city area.
This has to be on a Sunday. If he showed around Opelika you will see it's really busy. Downtown kinda sits in a hole in the middle of Opelika.

This reminds me of St Augustine, Florida. I really wish I would have ended up in Alabama! Cant wait to see more of your journey.
Where are all of the people? I haven’t seen anyone walking through town
there must be a klan rally or other community event elsewhere
Possibly a college football game?

More than just that area. He only drove through the downtown district. If you head back up the main street heading towards auburn there is more stuff.

The building on the thumbnail. My dad owns that building and works on the top floor and leases the downstairs places to people
