Hey there, I found your video through a friend's recommendation after I got stuck in this small town for a couple of days here after needing to have a heater hose replaced. Even before I learned about your video, I've experienced the people around, the folks here really are great, I could not stress that enough to my friends that I was hoping to re connect with after more than a decade of not seeing them. Fate /universe had me here a few days and it worked out, wish I was able to explore more of it. It's certainly not fast paced as big city life and I think that's a relief. Every single establishment that I have visited in my time here while waiting for my replacement hose to arrive, again, I couldn't help but notice how the people were so pleasant and helpful, everyone from customers, employees to even the managers down to the mechanics (Thank you Shamrock Automotive), it's just not something I was used to in a very long time. If you're ever driving through Opelika off the I-85 or end up here due to car emergency or restroom break , you'll be in good hands. The AutoZone manager Jessie off 2nd Ave location as well as his recent added associate Micheal who's also a retired U.S Army veteran were absolutely incredible and genuine human beings. Brandon and Josiah from Shamrock Automotive shop next door over also by 2nd Ave were equally terrific folks. There were opportunities to take advantage of a stranger like me in town but they didn't. World needs more folks like these.
Thank you for the tour of Opelika. It is so good to see my all hometown again. I was born in Opelika in 1931, and graduated from Auburn in 1954. I left for the Marine Corps then, and have only come back to visit once in a while for a visit. I live in California now, but I always feel that Opelika is home. Again thank you.
My hometown! Thank you for this. 💜 Downtown Opelika is usually busy around nighttime, when the bars are open. It hasn't been that busy though, due to Covid. Jefferson's, Irish Bread Pub, or Susie K's is definitely worth a try next time you come through!
Hi Jose - Glad that you showed the historic marker. I know that you said that you were NOT changing the name of the channel - but SOUTHERN HOOD VLOGS is an idea. All of your previous channel posts would automatically be converted to the new name. Just a suggestion. Good luck!
I totally agree with you. Until we are at the new home settled down we cant do this. were in a hotel now.. so we gotta keep t moving till we have time to create new logos and everything. I really like that name. I am afraid re-branding could lead to a small UNSUBSCRIBE movement LOL
This guy must of just moved here or just visiting. It is extremely hot in Alabama. Also, for him to say, it's cheap to live there and u don't have to work as much, u r crazy. U have to work just as much as any other city or town. It's Alabama, and the jobs don't pay that well there. I'm a native, Alabamian. It's Katy and I, not me and Katy, lol
First comment: I know i butchered the pronunciation of this towns name!!! 😅😅🙂

Wow this is beautiful! Florida heat is crucial... at least you can continue to walk around and enjoy fresh air now!
Good Video. Looks Like A Lovely Place.
Beautiful town and great vlog! I lived in Tallahassee back in the early 90's and miss the charm of the deep south! South Flo sucks these days sadly...
It sucks because it's saturated with more ppl from out of state than actual Floridians.
It's so pretty, the landscape driving to Montgomery.
I love my hometown😊😊😭❤️ “opelika Alabama”… I love my state “Alabama” & I love my Alabamians😂😘

Restaurant workers can certainly use a great tip these days. Well done, Jose!
