LYRICS
Take
All you do is take
You can have it all
Caught
In your web, I’m caught
Catch me when I fall
Stare
Kill me with your stare
All I do is follow
Care
Do you even care
If I’ll be there tomorrow?
A medical dependency to you
There’s nothing shameful that I wouldn’t do
A medical dependency to you
There’s nothing shameful that I wouldn’t do
I must've killed that shit
I shoulda stayed in Florida
Too much I spent
My shape got bent
I'm just a corny cracker
I spilled my beans
Cause I'm a fiend
I lost my extra mustard
Undertow
All those thoughts you think don't even matter
Punch yourself, punch you in the face
All those thoughts you think don't even matter
If you don't care, you don't have to say
So take me for granted
I know I never really meant that much to you
All our memories will be erased
The only way, out is forward
As far away as I can get
Where to now?
What happened to my fucking purpose?
I am just a stone sinking
Broken and numb
Where to now?
The way you made me, made me worthless
Truth is in the end we all end up alone
Can you feel me?
Calling your name from the balcony seats
You left empty
Can you feel me?
Tearing apart everything we use to be
Don't forget to clap for plants
A napkin allergy
A skin graft treatment
Tried out comedy
Got ants in my pants

We never knew we need Andrew Wells in our lives till we heard his voice in Evaporate
I mean he's been killing it since eidola
He's already amazing in Eidola, but in Dance Gavin Dance he's like a golden egg, so rare that it increases his value that much more
SINCE THE PROTAGONIST SET OFF FOR HIS ADVENTURES
but seriously Andrew is criminally underappreciated
Since Eidola, I dreamed of a DGD song with his guest vocals. Used to send messages to his now extinct Instagram, and he'd always reply saying that chances of that happening were high.
Thought Evaporate was the sole fullfillment of this dream of mine. Gladly, I was wrong.
@Stephen j not even just that, he also plays guitar for dgd on tour
Andrew comin in for the kill.
Shenanigans Nuts hells yes! 💯
I know him personally and the dude deserves to be recognized by these guys so much. It warms my heart to see him get a feature on such a banger!
@@Cyrrhizimic BRUH Eidola is my favorite band, it makes me so happy to see him on another track. Loved him in Evaporate too
DGD better be around when I have grandchildren
Depends how old you are based on your name you are between 22 and 34
@@lilyday115 27 had this name for so long lol never bothered changing it tbh
Yeah, but they'll only have will and Jon (I'm kidding, haha)
@@zelyte >:(
dance grandpa dance
Still can't get over that Andrew Well's bridge, man. the melody, the lyrics, the tone of his voice. What a nice pace.
still cant
This song is helping me beat a 12 year long addiction.
Congrats, man! Seeing this comment made my night, props to you
W man
Damn, almost two years sober and I didn't think to read the lyrics until seeing your comment. This hits hard.
This is the best from the album.
But Say Hi exists.
@@jasonlovesmusicreacting882 (points at "Into The Sunset")
@@favoritebread Yeah, that one is a banger.
@Brandon Mickley you think so? It think it's unique and stays in the DGD realm very well even though its taking on a more popular type vibe. Its also uniquely calming, even during Jon's part.
This song feels like the band was like "what if we did chill lo-fi beats to study to" and this is what came out lmao
It's no evaporate, but I think they're really nice songs for different reasons. : )
Lauren James “Taking on a more popular vibe” is usually not the best thing to do. I’ve been kinda worried about DGD taking a move into that direction like a few of my other past favorite rock bands. I love this band for their uniqueness, it would be sad to see them transform into some “trendy” band ya know?
"Can you feel me, calling your name from the balcony seats you left empty?"
Damn
existdissolve “Can you feel me tearing apart everything we use to be?” His whole part hits hard
nobody absolute nobody:
Andrew: "well I'm here to once again tear this shit up"
Andrew Wells returns:
"An unexpected surprise but a welcome one nonetheless."
The likes... They read 66 💀
My god Andrew’s voice should be just everywhere from now on
You got your wish bro, haha
you predict the future
After hearing this, Andrew needs to become a full time member so there can be songs with him, Tillian, Jon, and Will all on vocals
He kind of is. Despite the lack of credit. Hes written multiple songs on the last few albums and he tours with them as a guitar player.
And Kurt, I'd say Jonny too but poor boy burned that bridge long ago
terminallyCapricious Basic? Bro his vocals are amazing
terminallyCapricious
Bro stop hating, generic emo vocals are never that smooth. You’re acting like he’s fucking Kellin Quinn lmao (no offense to him ofc).
terminallyCapricious bro you may not like him in the band but don’t call him basic. His voice is wonderful, and I don’t hear any sound of it being basic emo.
RIP Tim
0:00 ok this one's my favorite. That intro slapped me in the face.
Take, all you do is take, you can have it alllllll
I think the right way to listen to this song is by listening to Say Hi first and then this since the ending and beginning of each song seems to go together so well, probably even intentional by them
Victor Rodriguez that is indeed how it’s structured within the album and that is ALWAYS on purpose.
Agreed, cause hearing that "Mmm.", which sounds like a verbal shrug, nd then the straight kickass into Nothing Shameful is amazing. Can't hear it any other way now lol
Rise, you forgot the "ft. Andrew Wells" part again
no they just realized he's meant to be in this band
That was Andrew's voice? Oml
@@kdastronaut171 I believe Andrew is considered part of the band since he's a touring member, according to the wiki.
Andrew sang on this one and also Sergio Medina did the second guitars on Nothing Shameful and also co-wrote the song Prisoner and Born To Fail.
João Victor Nah ‘cause Andrew Wells ‘ is ‘ DGD as well.
I never see anybody talk about Tim's performance, so I'll do it. This is one of my favorite bass lines of his. Not overly complicated, but catchy as hell. I find that my favorite DGD songs are in line with my favorite bass lines.
The bass rips through the whole album, it's so good
Tim makes everything work imo. matt said several times hes the best bassist hes ever written with.
Check out some dayshell and hands like Houses. They got pretty sick basslines too
Tim definitely killed it this album 100%
Ryan Mischler that’s saying something because Eric Lodge was a god too. Lemon Meringue has a fantastic bass line
when you read the lyrics the song is so much better
the lead singer to eidola was mixed really well in this song. definitly his best performance here.
M reapr but did you listen to “Evaporate” on the last album?
I thought the song was over when Andrew finished singing, but here comes tilian again 😂 Love the song, love the album
THIS JUST MIGHT FLATTEN THAT CURVE AND THEN SOME
Something else is curving and forming quite the painful tent just from this song
@@chris210racer oh that's tight as heck dude. Animal Crossing? Tom Nook can be a pain for sure.
1:42 daddy Andrew's part is beautiful
I love the synergy these guys have. A 4 minute song and no one in the band is left out. They even squeeze in another singer in without it sounding crammed. Talent in our generation.
This comment aged well lol
The SYNERGY
@@hunterbeam3434 dddaaaammmnnnn
lmao nice profile pic
This is the one.
THAT RIFF IS NASTYYYYYYY
The "can you feel me" part always makes me cry.
Beautiful song.
I vote for Andrew on Purple Reign or Spooks on the next tree city
Jon sounds quite emotional on this track. I know of course that this isn't the only time he has gotten emotional (Examples like: People You Know, People You Knew, Shark Dad, Care, ect.) but it just sounds like he's on the verge of tears durring this song especially during 0:54 and to be honest it actually kind of gets to me, though that could just be me.
EDIT: This is a stupid comment but I'm keeping it up just for the replies.
He lost his food.
Probably because of everything with covid?
its so fuckin funny how deeply personal his first verse appears to be and then it just turns into "i spilled my beans cos im a fiend, i lost my extra mustard". wonder if he's from florida.
To me, that's how he sounds in Born to Fail. Love it.
Andrew Well's voice sounds like enchanted forest at noon.
Bro why does this describe his voice so well lol
He is the voice of true twilight
As a twilghbt faerie myself, I can relate to this description.
this is one of the best comments ever. And so very true. Like a magical fairy just kissed you on the nose.
And physically he's like a mountain! haha
Fuking classic. 5 friends in a car going to a house/techno show and we still bump dgd all the way there . Dgd is universal
Okay period.
Dance Gavin Dance; what a fitting name considering this music is making me want to dance!
We only need to change ours names to gavin and it's a perfect fit
fun fact's all it's clean vocalists that are and were present in that band dance live when they perform
There's nothing shameful I wouldn’t do to listen to this song all day.
Andrew Wells kills it again!
Always remember you in this song so beautiful..
I wish Andrew would agree to be a full time member, now that tilian isn't in the band anymore I feel like he's the best choice to be the next clean vocalist
God, andrew's melody in this one is just so good.
Andrews part means so much to me, it's dedicated to my father who abandoned me when I was 6, I tear up everytime I listen to it.
im your dad now
Andrew Wells killing the spotlight again 👏
this song has brought me to tears so many times, it's so raw and deep and you can hear the pain in tillians voice its so beautiful This band is genuinely the best band i've ever heard
That bridge is musical perfection.
Rest in paradise, Tim Feerick...
I cry as soon as Andrew starts singing, every single time
This song literally makes me tear up every single time I listen to it. Especially when it gets to Andrew’s part.
Damn the whole part of Andrew Wells is so damn feels :(
Andrew is absolutely incredible in this song. So glad to hear him in this album
Andrews part is just too good!
When I get the chance to hear this song live I am going to die. Especially at the part where Andrew is singing and you can still hear Tilian singing in the background.
Album of the year.
I'm convinced Andrew's voice could impregnate someone.
DGD is making the Meta for years to come. Pay attention, and enjoy the ride.
Andrew's part is excellent, has me craving for more Eidola!
This album is a masterpiece and I’d say this song is the capstone
3:30 Did he just sing "where are my lyrics you b***" after the lyrics in the description ended? If so, outstanding move riserecords!
IDK I think so.
Not according to other lyric sites, but I love the way you perceived that, that's dope!
it really does sound like he says that
God this band cant make a bad album
Listening to this album is like taking endless shots of Fireball, its amazing
andrew wells is something else 😍😍
Love that Andrew's part is the most replayed. His part is so damn good.
My favorite from this album.
Best song on the album! This album SLAAAPPSSS
Damn Tim killed it
This song is soooo good😤
TAKE IT ALL!!!
God I didnt know I was gonna melt so hard once Andrew came out with them golden vocals 🥴
The fucking intro slaps, Tilians vocals as well as Wills riffs, my god 😩😩😩
This is my favorite off the album. I’ve been listening to DGD for 13 years and this is one of their best. What a fuckin jam.
That transition at the end 🔥👈🏻
The way say hi leads into nothing shameful was so amazing my first listen through of the album I didn’t even realize they were different songs right away
my god i always forget Andrew has the best part of this song when it comes up i always goosebumps.
Reminder to not sleep on Eidola
Yes this guy sang on Artificial selection right ?
@@DailyScratcher Yeah, they gave him a part in "Evaporate". But @Sirus is right, Eidola is great! They're super Math-y, and perhaps a touch more technical than DGD, if youre into that kind of thing.
They’re more technical except for a couple of songs where they quite obviously go off script with their instrumentals. Tetelestai is a banger by them, though. My favorite is probably Sri Vishnu Yantra.
Degeneraterra and TSTL are amazing albums. I’ve seen them live twice and they’re solid live too.
Sam Smelson same bro! Sri Vishnu Yantra is a fucking bomb especially the ending part
I was reading the comments, "Andrew, Andrew", and I was like, hmm..Then his part came in and I was like "Holy gracious gawwwdd!".
This song is beautiful!
Jon's part at 1:20 reminds me of "People you knew" where in that song he went "a slave to always believe in looing back"
2:29 best
This is my favorite one on the album so far. Made my heart crack wide open.
It's really odd that I find a song I don't like from them, I'm forever grateful to have heard them by a mere coincidence.
THIS SONG. This is the vibe the whole album should've had. None of them have the energy/catchiness that this one does.
Bold claim for a guy with the last name "Wright"
@@ryanchain9746 I don't get it
@terminallyCapricious I take it you didn't like mothership?
Derek Wright Bro what? Majority of the song have this type of vibe
terminallyCapricious Bro what? Andrew was a great feature
01:43 - 02:50 dangit andrew you nailed it !! Love it 101% !!
this song gives me strong IG feelings, I love that this album gives us a little bit of everything from their discography. Another wonderful album gents
Will Swan is the reason I picked up the guitar, I absolutely love hearing him play. He writes catchy melodies and they never get old, I could listen to him play all day.
His vocals in "all our memories will be erased" pure gold
Yoo, music is so beautiful! It is so strange how people of all ages around the world all love something at the same time but all the feelings and lyrics always feel so unique to yourself and what you are doing in life
Over a decade as a fan and they have yet to disappoint
Song dedicated to that one person in my life who I became attached to… and sadly it was one sided … I gave my everything to you
Wish you would see that…Friend, partner
Goodbye, I’ll love you from a distance now.
Don't do that. All it does is hurt you and inflate her ego the milliseconds of her life that she's even thinking about you if there are any. Loving women from a distance is such 2009-era self defeating behavior.
This should have been the last song on the album tbh
yep. what was that ending?
@@slackjaw4467 into the sunset ,it's beautiful and Carry's all the other songs into this raw Melody of regret and sarrow
Agreed. The album ends here for me.
Big agree
I'd say this song is definitely the climax of the album in a thematic sense. But into the sunset is like a song that plays in the rolling credits
Best song on the album imo... Andrew freakin killed it
revisiting this song now since andrew is now the lead singer LOL
If anything happens to Tilian, I nominate Andrew Wells to be the lead clean singer
I always have this in my mind
If anything happens to Tilian, I'm ending the universe.
💯
Kurt is 10x the singer
@@hopesfall2win Kurt or Quin White for sure
I love these guys, when in a depressed mood, this band cheers me up. Especially when you down in the dumps about life and bulls***. Getting a drunk/high whatever, you hear the lyrics clearer it's insanely good.
Easily my favorite in the album. That intro and 2:50 just sternly demanded first place.
As soon as i hear "Where to now" I get instant chills
Literally crying because... I feel like I'm alone. Always alone. Even in a relationship. I just feel convenient. Ugh.
hey, hope you're doing ok
I hope they put out an instrumental version of this album like the last ones
Hell yeah! Love the album!
Best one on the album
That dash from Wells from Eidola is awesome!
This song never fails to get me in my feels
i need mess to scream me a bedtime story and andrew wells to wake me up... and yes i mean in this order
This is probably my favorite from Afterburner right now. This album is fantastic from front to back though. Absolutely incredible work.
Just yes! Amazing!
nice sound!!!
The best so far ❤
Andrew is a gem🤘😍
Dude are you fucking kidding me with this song. Andrew nailed Evaporate but THIS?! This record is insane and this song in particular is soooooo dope the transition after Andrews part gives me chills every time
