Out of how many points do we get? However many we decide? Also for newer artists this feels like a lot of staff & points to be handing out that most of us just don’t really have, is there anyway to morezone in on the points we don’t have to externalize in someone else in the next vid. Thanks!
I’d like to know the history // when, how & by whom this got started.... and why they didn’t just make it an clear obvious “percentage” system rather than going by “points”? Seems like somebody was trying to confuse the talent
Points are a %. Anything and everything can be negotiated with points. It's usually used in context with royalties on sales to royalties on songwriting. But it's not limited to this.
I disagree with the engineer getting points when they are paid to mix. What is the limit of mixing and who gave them permission to change a kick or an melody. Naa i just need them to do their job. Also how you explain it they sound like business partner getting a piece of the pie like investors yet only the producer is putting money in the project the rest are not. Why?
Short answer: The artist is making money off their percentage - whatever they negotiated. Long answer. I just recorded a 9min answer. It will drop on the ASL series.
This video cuts the chase. Clear and onpoint info! Thanks 👍

If an artist pays a producer, only in points do you still own the master?
Whoever pays for the recording is the owner of the masters

There is really no short way to break this out...so I recorded another video. It's dropping on Ask Sirr Love to Address it.
If a producer gets points on my song, does that mean I cant own the masters? Pls help me out.
Short Answer: No, They do not. They have a profit share.
Long Answer: Check Out Ask Sirr Love. I spoke on it at length.
Are points only on masters or publishing?? Or both?
Can be month both due to the slang use of the term but legally its typically the master.
