    It's good you did this review Brad, it's just your honest experience with this product and I'm sure if it happened to one person, it happened to others. I would never expect a product to do this... at the very least, there should be warning stickers directly on the product where it's so dangerous. Especially anything to do with electricity when it comes in such close proximity to water.

    "Who reads the manual" LOL. Isn't it like common sense to not touch an LED panel while it's running? And yes, my coffee pot in the morning gets so hot that I can't touch it, and so does my stove when I cook something.

    Thanks for testing this. I've been using this light for 2 years with no issues but I have it mounted high up with a pane of glass between my plants and the light so I could never touch the light on accident.

    Honestly , I've had this light for about 2yrs and it's an awesome light. Also I'm not sure why you would need to touch that area of the light ever. I use this for new plants and clones and spray water in the tent daily, no issue ever. Doesn't really get that hot either

    I just bought one of these and done the exact same thing I turned it on while holding it and got a shock same as you said then I carried on setting it up and once I hung it I turned it on and the whole light blew up and tripped out the electrical circuit! I sent an email to them but apparently their engineer needs to review it to see the problem 🤣

    First off, I'm glad to see you despite the negative circumstances. You've been missed here. Hope you are doing well despite the crappy light and customer service. I'm glad you posted this video. You know from the start I never trusted Mars Hydro. Something always seemed wrong with them not to mention I've seen the stickers they have promoting drugs. Negative reviews are just as important especially for something serious like this. Terrible replies that aren't even proper English. Instead of listening and fixing issues they get mad and want their light back. No, it belongs in the trash. I'm glad you weren't seriously hurt. You should report this to whoever is in charge of certification in Canada and send them all those stupid lights. Bar them entry into the country. You have every right to rant and be mad. They need to fix all of this or get out of the business.

    All, if you plan to use ANY electrical device in a wet or high humidity environment, you MUST read the operations manual and requirements specification for suitability of use for your PARTICULAR environment. In particular, the non-condensing temperature requirements are critical. For your safety, if you do not understand the information, please seek help from a knowledgeable source.

    That is disappointing, holy cow. I'm wondering about this rating. The ratings on any electrical products here in 🇨🇦 are always the ones you said, I've never seen that other one, so not sure how they can sell that here. I'd rather go with lights with 🇨🇦 approval ratings, as some other countries are more geared to company profits than safety. Thanks for the video.

    I thought: oh cool, even if a component breaks i could realistically solder a new one on without any problems. But no, someone just had to touch it even though he bought an electrical device that is not even a toy. This will just lead to stuff being non-repairable, why people, why? This lamp is not dangerous, its easy to repair. Every oven would be a crazy security hazard by your logic.

      @mollycatcolorado9252 2 роки тому

      It really doesn’t matter why someone fiddled with the light when it was turned on. The fact is this light is capable of shocking people by simply touching certain parts of it and that is NOT NORMAL. Ask any reputable electrician or person who builds LED lights and they will tell you that is not normal or safe.
      I have never bought a light before that specifically warned customers to not touch the light when it is on (and yes, I am one of those people that read all the paperwork). If I ever did purchase a light with such a ridiculous warning, I would immediately return the light as it is unsafe.

    Nice to see an honest review. Might explain why I see so many good reviews from the product, but it’s not sold in the EU.
    Here you need a CE certificate which a lot of American products can’t qualify for.
    We also use a higher voltage than US(250 vs 140), so electronic issues like this can be life threatening.

    the exposed capacitors are normal for these types of lights, you’re not meant to touch any lights if they are ever plugged in unless you are specifically told it is safe to do so. Many lower end lighting systems do sometimes provide a silicone layer to prevent people touching the LEDs directly. Is it an easily fixed issue in higher-end LED grow lights? Yes. However, ignorance isn’t a defence in any court room, what I mean by that is that if you had read the manual it likely told you not to touch the underside whenever the light was turned on. Sounds to me like what you’re looking for is an LED grow light with a good enough Ingress Protection to resist water also.
    BTW not arguing that it’s a poor industry wide design, just arguing that as a consumer we also have the responsibility to read manuals provided. I hope the industry moves along quicker and starts producing new designs that offer something more touch/water friendly.

      This would be classed IP00. Anything indoor where people can access it needs to be IP20 or better. A humid environment increases the IP requirements further. You could put a big red warning sticker on this and it still wouldn't be ok to sell/use.

    • @GoncaloMartins
      @GoncaloMartins 2 роки тому

      @@MParsons65 electric hobs have exposed contacts, they don’t expect you to grab said contacts and if you read the manual it tells you just that.
