Excellent demonstration! The effect of that display (multiplexing) is a pretty cool effect. Most displays are multiplexed, but I actually have a giant 24 hour clock made in the 80's that has discrete transistors for each segment pf the seven segment displays and decimals and has no multiplexing what so ever.
