Thanks for supporting Mend it Mark, an excellent UA-cam channel. Tom Evans Audio is selling ridiculously overpriced audiophile snake oil, and all this is a badly handled PR disaster from them because of their ass hurt over having that snake oil (gently) shown my Mark.
It’s not just snake oil that product is built to such a low standard that it’s borderline fraud… That’s what he’s trying to hide. It’s not even decent hobby level build quality it’s very deceptive considering its price. Most audiophile level equipment has a bit of snake oil, but the build quality is usually exceptional so there’s still value in it.
@@robertw1871 I wouldn't go as far as fraud... There is no evidence whatsoever that the product doesn't work (when not broken). It clearly has a large number of hand selected components, all of which seem to be hand assembled and soldered to a huge number of boards. It has lots of redundant circuitry and loads of power supply filtering, which could in theory, all be a good thing. In fact, given this unit is UK built, by someone probably paid a decent living wage, the actual assembly cost of this unit, would be quite high. that doesn't mean its worth that money, and they could have chose to do it any other number of ways. None of that is in dispute. But theres no fraud here, when not broken, the unit does exactly what it is supposed to do.

Tom has sold 80 of these, IIRC, at a huge markup, all he had to do was to fix it with goodwill. All it needed was a new cap, easily found by IR, and a top cover. Then he doubled down, blaming the customer, then blaming Mark. Anyone but himself. THanks for posting this again :) This is a great video that shows us the level of engineering that goes into high end audio boutique style equipment.
And by not just simply ignoring that random dude who fixed something, now everybody out there knows just how simple and relatively cheap that thing actually is. It's like the manufacturers are more afraid of people knowing just how cheap something is on the parts side of things. I mean... it seems to be a reasonably well designed amplifier, and hand made low volume does have a price tag... but I'd venture to say it has an order of magnitude error in the pricing calculator. 2.5k I'd say is more reasonable than 25k... I still think that the "special sound quality" some people keep experiencing is just their bank account screaming for mercy 🤣
Very good to see you guys join the support for Mark and his excellent video. Tom Evans really did themselves NO favour at all and they'll sure as balls have a much harder time taking down so many uploads from big names as yourselves and Rossmann.
I made a playlist with all reuploads and related videos. So far 26 entries, and I'm sure I missed some. Take this, Tom. 😂
This is one of the best repair video ever made. I mean, Mark is so knowledgeable, multi talented and all this with a smile. The Right to Repair community have to stay strong and speak loud about all dishonest manufacturers.
Thanks iFixit to keep this video available.
Great to see all the support for Mend it Mark. Well done guys.
