My great uncle Jim was a British tank commander during D Day. He was sitting on top of the lead tank with the top hatch open when a German anti aircraft gun, with its barrel lowered, sent a shell directly into the front of his vehicle. He was blown 30 foot in the air suffering extremely bad burns and landed in a ditch. His life was saved when a platoon of African / American soldiers found him later that day. He was so badly burnt and blackened from his injuries that the African American soldiers assumed he was one of their own and he later regained consciousness in an American field hospital! Amazingly he survived and subsequently lived well into his 80’s. Heroes

My Father and 4 of his brothers were all WW2 veterans. My Dad took part in the invasion of Normandy! He was 23 yrs old at the time. I can't even imagine what was going through his mind that day! Thank God he and his 4 brothers all survived the war and made it home. Tomorrow will be the 80th anniversary of the invasion. Thinking of that I get very emotional! My Father passed away July 17th 2011 at the age of 92. Since then his 4 brothers have all died! I just want to say Love you Dad and miss you very much. Thank you for your service and sacrifice!

I have been in a very teary state leading up to this Ann. Now watching the clips. I am worse
I am Canadian. My Dad landed on Juno Beach that day at the age of 20.
He never talked about it. We watched the specials on TV but he never spoke about it
He had a good life when he came home. Worked hard and had a good life. My parents raised us to be appreciative and strong. We offered to take him to the 50th Ann celebrations but he didn't want to go.
Seeing some of these gentlemen in the beach band their emotions. I understand now.
My Dad lived to be 89 and would have been 100 this past March.
All I can say is....Thank You Dad....Thank you Gentlemen
    God bless you all. 😘🇨🇦

We owe all the freedoms we have today to these brave men. I am 38 years old now, and even now I often imagine what it must have been like to arrive on those beaches on D day. To see your friends and comrades fall, to know you must push on, to know that the future for your grandchildren, and their grandchildren, depended on you that day. How all the Jews trapped in concentration camps depended on you for their futures as well. How I would love to spend hours with them and hear their stories.
We must also make sure that those who fought and those who lost their lives on D day so we can live in freedom and peace did not do so in vain. All talk of a 'world war three' needs to stop, now. We must be better, we must think better and we must do better, for us and for them.

And I wonder when the old generation is going to stop quoting Hollywood movie lines. The D-Day was just a conversion to ease pressure on the advancing Soviet troops in the East. They were just cannon fodder because of a deal between Stalin and Churchill. As a German, they didn’t fight for my freedom but rather the fact that we are now communicating in English with each other.

Our economy struggling with uncertainties, housing issues, foreclosures, global fluctuations, and pandemic aftermath, causing instability. Rising inflation, sluggish growth, and trade disruptions need urgent attention from all sectors to restore stability and stimulate growth.

With my demanding job, I lack time for investment analysis. For seven years, a fiduciary has managed my portfolio, adapting to market conditions, enabling successful navigation and informed decisions. Consider a similar approach.

Just research the name Angela Lynn Schilling. You’d find necessary details to work with a correspondence to set up an appointment.

So sad to see that generation going! Those men were heroes and still are. I wonder if we would rise to the occasion? I hope we never have to. They don’t want us to have to. That’s why they did what they did. Remember though the freedom isn’t free.

80 years ago, General Eisenhower directed the greatest invasion force in history. Shortly before D-Day, he came to inspect the American troops in training in Exmoor, England.
One day, he told his aides to wait for him while he climbed alone to the summit of a hill. There, aware of his helplessness, the man who would become President of the United Sates turned to the Lord is prayer.
Whatever battles we face, prayer to God is our greatest weapon.
