Been watching you for a little over a year, I love this channel because of the fact that you are so budget minded and provide that content to viewers that can ONLY go budget. You also use these products to help everyone choose the right budget products so we dont buy junk. Seriously, as a busy dad, THANK YOU!

I have the trim router, drill press and spindle sander. All have more than exceeded my expectations. I gotta tell you I am not embarrassed to have someone see them in my shop...they are that good.
Excellent quality for the price. I own the 8" jointer. My only complaint would be the aluminum tables. Mine started getting scratched up immediately so I just ordered some cast iron ones from cutech. That triangular ruler is an "Architect's Scale and doesn't have metric markings. Theyre used to draw and measure distances on standard scales uses in Architectural draft work. You can also get them in Engineer Scale where it uses standard Engineering scales (i.e. the "40" side has 40 marks per inch and is used for a 1"=40' scale).
Igaging (American owned company) have some great tools. Just got their 3" and 6" combo set of squares. Came with a case and a mechanical pencil (lead included). Thanks for the video and the outro was a cool surprise!
Just a comment about Woodpeckers: I was fortunate to have a personal one-on-one tour of their manufacturing facility. As a manufacturing engineer I was interested in their processes. Their array of the latest machining technology and the volume of CNC multi-axis machining centers is more than a little impressive. I was blown away, and that's not easy to do with my experience. Interestingly, I learned that 40-50% of their production is sold to tool collectors. It would be awesome to afford to fully equip my shop with their products, however, I'm just a hobbyist and conservative buyer. I really enjoy your product reviews. It has helped me on numerous occasions.
I use the measurements on a square all the time, and I love love love having metric and imperial measures on one tool. Go Wen (I have a few Wen tools also; they rock).
DIY here. I bought Wen's 16 ga and 18 ga air nailers about 8 yrs ago. Use them a fair bit. They're great for DIY projects and surprisingly inexpensive.
Thanks for the video. I will not be adding any Wen tools to my workshop as the few that are available are outrageously expensive for what they are - at least on this side of the ocean. Glad you like them.
I got some of mine delivered and like you did, I lined them up with the couple of woodpecker tools I have and they were DEAD ON! They even feel similar in weight and rigidity. I’m guessing they may not wear as well or have the same level of durability maybe, but I’m going to be using them and see.
I’ve been using the WEN dust collectors and filters on-site for the last four years For the quality, reliability and cost of both the units and the consumables, they cannot be beat. Glad to see their tools are on point too!
Once again, Matt, Thanks for the review. I appreciate the links to the WEN products. Probably like most...went to Amazon and found most all of them "Temporarily Out Of Stock", flipped over the the Home Depot site and found all of them available and having them shipped to the house. I agree, I find myself always searching for a measuring tool when working in my shop...I am notorious for misplacing mine. Can't have too many at this point in time.
I have seen big differences in measurements on cheaper tools. Thx for the great info! I also like how you keep a completely straight face every time you put one in your "pocket"!!
Hey Matt great video and Wen makes some awesome stuff! The 6 sided ruler is actually an architectural ruler commonly used to draw blueprints, there are 6 "scales" on it, 1/4" = a foot, 3/8"= a foot and so on , no metric on that particular ruler, cool products from Wen though!!!
I have a woodpeckers T square and paolini pocket rule. I love them! But i can't afford much else and I've been worried about accuracy from cheaper tools. Just bought 4 of these items!! Thanks for putting your heads together and helping us out!!
Like you I love the woodpecker line of tools and have several, but when I first began woodworking 40yrs. ago there was no way I could have afforded anything made by Woodpecker. It’s nice to see there is an accurate and budget friendly alternative for those just getting started in the woodworking adventure. Thank you for your excellent review.
Being a woodworker that needs to work on a budget, I find the WEN measuring tools reviewed seem awesome. To further support the video and positive review, most of these product are sold out on the WEN website. AMAZON had the 6" T marking square and the 90 degree clamps. Oddly - the items are cheaper when buying directly from Wen.
Hey Matt, Just as a point of reference, the scale you were showing is a drafting scale used for drawing pictures of your project to scale. This way you can see what your project looks like when it's finished. Rick
I've got a couple of Wen tools and have had great success with them. This is awesome. Unfortunately everything is sold out now but I will keep an eye for them to come back in stock. Thanks
I have been a fan of Wen Tools for a while. I own several, including the 10-inch variable drill press, track saw, and 9-inch bandsaw. I am an occasional DIY guy, so I am not putting them through heavy usage, but to this point, I have had no issues, and they do the jobs I need them for at a price that I can afford. Here's a little clarification on the company (from their website): "WEN products are made in many locations around the world, including the United States, Germany, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, and China. WEN's headquarters are in West Dundee, Illinois, and they also have warehouses in several US locations."
I have been a WEN brand user of their saw blades for several yrs . They are a one time use for &20. Or so for a 80 tooth 12 inch miter saw blade. The wood squares are great ,just lie you said . All WEN tools are sold out on Amazon ,what a following you have ! Cheers
The compass has a way of measuring radial lengths since it can be used to make arcs of whatever size you need. Arc length is equal to the radius times the angle in radians.
WEN makes great products at a reasonable price, I went big bought a WEN generator 2 fuel gasoline or propane, one of the best things I have ever purchased
Thanks for this! I don't have the budget for Woodpecker no matter how much I'd like to have a bunch of their stuff, so I'm excited to grab a few of these (layout square and t's) as a stepping stone to the MITUSA stuff.
Thanks for the reviews. Never hurts to have these. Especially if you need them as a sacrificial piece. Like lending them to a family member or a smaller young adult who you are teaching.
It actually has 11 scales. 5 are double ended, and the eleventh is the full size 1 inch scale. Since I haven't seen it mentioned...the fine markings at the ends are for accurately drawing fractions of a foot at scale. So a 1/4" scale has 12 divisions for the 12 inches in a 1/4" foot.
Thanks for this, I've been hesitant to buy these even though I definitely could use a nice layout square. Every dollar counts and now I think it will be worth the money
the indentations on the rulers in the middle also provide rigidity - similar to how a t-track is more rigid than a bar of metal with the same dimensions.
I’m grateful for Wen, I was able to get a decent little business off the ground with Wen! Miter Saw stand is another sleeper in my opinion. I use daily Wen, Miter saw, planer, jointer, miter saw stand, Wen Clamps, dust collector…I’m sure there’s something else. Contacted customer service to litterally just say thank you and they responded very quickly multiple times. So I assume there Customer Service Department is good also. Also about to buy the smaller Miter saw for my mobile work…the big one is on a big custom miter table, it’s seriously my go to brand in non battery powered tools. Battery powered Im a Milwaukee guy!
Just saw this and went right to amazon. And almost all of them are now sold out. So I'd guess you're doing a good job! Now I'll have to wait for them to restock.....
I just got in my order from woodpeckers yesterday. I ordered the set of rulers, 12”, 18” and 24” squares. Wish I had known bc I definitely am not to ashamed to use wen instead of woodpeckers lol. Gotta say if I’m being honest I’ll probably be sending back the set of rulers bc they were like $150 or so for the set and I can get the wen set for a fraction of the cost. Thanks for the video bc I didn’t know wen made this type stuff
many years ago i bought a couple of wen power tools. i was on a tight budget, but i really did not like them. didn't even look at wen again till recently. i wanted to get a sliding miter saw. i wanted one that would tilt both left and right. needed a slider also. found the wen 12 inch miter saw. it was well made, had the sliding mechanism which slid from the front. this is one of the best miter saws i have ever owned. wen has really stepped up their game and their prices are very competitive.
Great video brother, just something I thought I'd throw out there, and I don't know how all people use these, but the triangle ruler one, its mostly for scaling on blueprints, as far as I know, I'm sure you can use it for other stuff too.
I've used one of those triangular-shaped rulers for decades - first, back in the late 60's when I took drafting in high school. Might be time for a new one!
I really appreciate you doing these kinds of videos. I'm 65, and live on the extreme low end of Social Security, so, I have to buy everything cheap. And most times the quality is poor. But, I bought the MilesCraft Universal Track Saw Guide, after watching all your reviews on circular saw track guides (the MilesCraft had your highest recommendation), and I am very happy with the quality! :D So, I will definitely buy some of these, when my budget allows me too LOL.
Matt: I watch your YT snippets faithfully. What sold me on WEN is not just the accuracy at a reasonable price...you got my attention when you pointed out that the packaging on the small square comes out of the box and drops right into my tool drawer. My garage workshop is always clean and organized. The Wen packaging keeps the tool and accessories neat and tidy, no searching for the accessories that go with the tool.
Matt - always informative and useful as usual. Amazon is sold out... (i'm sure from your video) I found some of the hook rulers at Home Depot - ordered before the are out. I have to say I like Wen products - budget friendly but most tools are actually relatively high quality. Never needed to talk to their support team - knock on wood..
I have one of their bandsaws and air filter. The air filter has a timer so that you can set it to go for up to 3 hours after you are done to get the air clean
Appreciate the video. I don't have a need for Woodpeckers quality, but still need a few of these items. Bought a pair of iGaging steel layout squares on eBay when a set showed up cheap. Wasn't real interested in their other offerings, though. These will do nicely.
Thanks for this already looking for them! You got me good with the shirt pocket trick! first time i saw it out of the corner of my eye and thought i just imagined it. Double checked the next time and saw what you had done! Nice
Matt, this is a great one from you. I (and I hope, many of your subscribers would like to see more of) would like to see you do more of the financial friendly tools like Wen and Ryobi and possibly others. You see I am on fixed income and still need and want more economical tools. I am in the Ryobi battery platform and actually been using them probably 20+ years. While my tools that truly matter(Miter Saw, table saw and routers), I have Wen benchtop tools and even my track saw is a Wen. But my most healthy needed tool is my Festool sander and extractor (only Festool I own and is their cheapest sander and extractor). My next tool will be the Wen 4214 benchtop variable speed drill press. Would love to see your review of this. I would really like for you to reply so I can get your thoughts on this
I have the Wen oscillating drum/belt sander, been meaning to pick up the 12” drill press too, just hard to find in stock. I can’t lie, I like the red anodizing of the Woodpeckers (though I don’t own any, only some Amazon knock-offs); I think Wen could’ve stood out more by making these in their orange color, though understandably, a lot of ppl prefer the ‘stealth’ or inconspicuous black color.
I bought my first woodpeckers product recently. The hex scale at 36 inches. It was not straight. And the scribe lines on the six sides had variance between them. It was frustrating because it’s an $80 tool. And it also made me second guess the accuracy out of the box. Not just of the hex scales. But everything.
That edit though when you stick the small t-ruler in your non-existent shirt pocket! Had to watch it a few times to figure out what was going on there. Nice!
The T marking rules are very cool and I want them now! Looks like your video was impactful, though...they are sold out everywhere, including from Wen directly. It looks like they have a 6" version as well.
If you are using a triangle scale (e.g., rule or ruler) find an Alvin Scale Guard. Alvin guards clip onto the scale to make the scales easier to hold. But, more importantly, if you're using say the 3/4 scale, it keeps the scale face up. They used to be under $1.00.
I outfitted my garage shop (single car) with all WEN power tools. I agree with you on quality for the price. I’ve had no issues with any of their products. I’ll be picking up more of the WEN products. Thanks for the review!
Just an FYI, the triangle ruler IS a drafting and cartography ruler. A lot of time, they were used for both. The squares & rulers are very useful with the metric system as a lot of plans that you find on places like Pintrest are in metric units. So this makes the layout so much simpler. Thanks for the video. Guess I need to look into Wen at all their inventory, not just power tools. Hail Odin!

I have been a WEN brand user of their saw blades for several yrs . They are a one time use for &20. Or so for a 80 tooth 12 inch miter saw blade. The wood squares are great ,just lie you said . All WEN tools are sold out on Amazon ,what a following you have !
Cheers
That should be like not lie. Sorry…
The compass has a way of measuring radial lengths since it can be used to make arcs of whatever size you need. Arc length is equal to the radius times the angle in radians.
Have a Wen Joiner and their planer, been very happy with them so far
Matt, you are such a great guy. Your generosity never ceases to amaze me Sir. Love and respect all the way from Scotland 🏴🫡
Wen is definitely a solid budget option. I have the oscillating spindle sander 6510T, no complaints
Those triangular rulers are also called a draftsman ruler. We used the all the time when manually drafting. They are incredibly useful.
Most of these are sold out everywhere... Got to be a great product... I'll get an email when they are back in stock... thanks for the video...
Thanks for bringing us quality options at less expensive prices 👍
Thanks for the reviews. Never hurts to have these. Especially if you need them as a sacrificial piece. Like lending them to a family member or a smaller young adult who you are teaching.
The triangle ruler is an Architects scale ruler, it is not metric, it has six different scales for measuring drawings.
Thank you, Matt, for telling us where to get super accurate layout/measuring tools that are affordable! I had no idea Wen made these. Woo
I have had a Wen drill press for 15 years or so now. I have beat the crap out it over the years and it still hums along just fine.
Thanks for great reviews. Tried to buy some, but every tool I wanted is sold out.
Great!! The Wen looks good. The price is excellent for sure. Thanks..
I have a wen jointer. It is amazing. Perfectly square. Really underrated company.
Excellent video. Very helpful.
And it's really nice how you added the prices to the list in the description! 👍
Love that little shirt pocket effect when you were talking about the 3" layout rule.
Great video brother, just something I thought I'd throw out there, and I don't know how all people use these, but the triangle ruler one, its mostly for scaling on blueprints, as far as I know, I'm sure you can use it for other stuff too.
Thanks Matt!!!
I've used one of those triangular-shaped rulers for decades - first, back in the late 60's when I took drafting in high school. Might be time for a new one!
Wow I hope these come back in stock soon
I think you presented this information very well; including your notes on USAvforeign-made debate.
WEN has really made good products for a home woodworker.
So, I will definitely buy some of these, when my budget allows me too LOL.
I think you made these instantly popular, needed the layout square bad, sold out at amazon, Lowes, home depot and Walmart
Thank you for the excellent and informative video.
These look like a great buy, these will be my next purchase, Another review very well done .
Very nice presentation, Matt. Very informative.
Much appreciated!
Each of them look like a great product. I'm going to look at purchasing a couple items
Nice video. 48" ruler is definitely needed.
Thanks for this already looking for them! You got me good with the shirt pocket trick! first time i saw it out of the corner of my eye and thought i just imagined it. Double checked the next time and saw what you had done! Nice
I have the WEN air filtration system, it works great
The "tri-ruler" is an Architect's rule. Engineer's rules are similar, but are laid out in tenths of an inch.
Shh. You are giving Drafting class flash backs.
I’m getting all of these, thank you!
I saw these on Amazon a couple of weeks ago. I thought for that price point they must not be accurate. Thanks for correcting me Matt. 👊
Great video Matt definitely going to check these out. Thanks for sharing
Well done video!
Love the t-shirt. Once I get back into building some wood fabs I'll look into these tools.
I love Wen tools I have a jointer, planer, and drill press
Wenning! Great video Matt, thanks for sharing.
Great budget options! 🎉🎉 Just ordered the Layout square and the 10” T marking square!!!
Thanks for the video! I really wanted to get some Woodpeckers tools until I went to their site and saw the prices!
that triangle ruler is for reading blueprints at scale
Just an FYI, the triangle ruler IS a drafting and cartography ruler. A lot of time, they were used for both. The squares & rulers are very useful with the metric system as a lot of plans that you find on places like Pintrest are in metric units. So this makes the layout so much simpler.
Thanks for the video. Guess I need to look into Wen at all their inventory, not just power tools.
Hail Odin!
