If someone really wants to delve deep into Korean culture, they can learn the language, study the arts, history, and beliefs, apply to a Korean university. They can even visit, work, or live there on a visa. There are so many respectful ways to go about making another culture part of your life...and this is not one of them.
as an Indian, when you mentioned India and a bunch of other south asian countries I audibly gasped. its like...a fourth wall being broken, considering the fact that most people are completely oblivious to south and west Asia being part of Asia. 😂
Blud your country is in south asia not southeast asia. Southeast asian countries would be like the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, etc.
I’m South Korean. This is disturbing to the core. What the fuck. Most of us aren’t K-POP idols thank you very much. Our culture is about hard work, self discipline, self-control, making a life for yourself, and eventual enlightenment and self-actualization. It is NOT being “cute” and wearing weird accessories.
The glorification of Asians and Asian culture through anime, Kpop, and Kdramas has made many people forget about the unpleasant things in east Asian culture such as the high suicide rate, plastic surgery rates, and powerful families/gangs that can pressure police and courts. Most Asians don't look like cute anime girls or Kpop idols and things aren't so pretty beneath the surface
And they forgot about all of the diversity in the east asian culture, yeah they're not e-girls and e-boys of course but like - where's the food ? The beliefs ? Like bruh
@PouLS Yeah, they only fixate on East Asian culture which is only a part of the continent. There's just a total disregard for west Asia, South Asia, Central Asia, and South East Asia. A lot of people also seem to forget that Russia is a part of Asia.
Anyone that changes to become "Chinese", hell, just put them through the start of COVID-19 where Chinese people were discriminated against and killed for "starting the pandemic." Racism towards the Chinese really reached an all-time high near that time. There's still racism as well occurring because of our "tiny eyes". And also "rice". Those are some of the more common examples of racist remarks towards the Chinese.
Not to mention the type of food we mostly have. Most western foods are processed, fried, or served on a can, they won't even cook it if it says "pre-cooked"
I was scrolling at tiktok and I saw an RCTA and it said white to filipino and it said it's dream was to live at the Philippines like girl no you don't you'll get bullied get called names then if mess with them they usually say "aabangin kita sa gate" which is like I'll wait for you at the gate which also means they'll beat you up or worse scenario they'll kill you they do that outside of the school gate so they won't get in trouble at school and cuz the police can't put them in jail cuz there still under age
I'm a filipino, and yeah that's true my mom's friend said that her child got bullied so badly she quitted schools and it happens mostly in public schools because in private schools guards guard the gates. plus theres a place known as boys town it's where problematic teens are sent to, basically jail for minors
As an Asian American, I can confirm that I do not look like a kpop idol. And to be perfectly clear, I can't just watch a tutorial on how to look like an AsIaN and magically miraculous ladybug dance transformer into nayeon.
As an Asian, this hurts me so much with how little research they did. I'm not Korean but I am very into Korean culture, and it pains me to see them just summing Korea down as "kpop, kdrama, korean idols" 😭
Fr. I am Korean, but I feel the same. I'm dissapointed that these people think our culture is just Kpop, K drama, and looking cute. I bet these people can't point out anything about our culture except for Kpop lol

I don't think necessarily, if they introduce themselves to new people with being korean or japanese and those people are decent and respectful people they will accept it (I mean how can you not accept the race of someone). I for example also tell people I am egyptian when they ask for my race or heritage, but I can't speak the language and I don't "look" typically egyptian either, but it doesn't change the fact that I am trough my parents and I am thankful for having friends who don't take that away from me just because of my looks and language and instead respect me (even my arab friends) I know that is a different situation than the one in the video, but I do think there are some similarities. Personally I don't see a problem with what these girls are doing as long as they are happy and respectful, it doesn't really hurt anyone, whatever floats your boat kind of thing, you don't really have to befriend them. But also I think it is to overthink if you gain happiness from random people getting laughed at and I wouldn't deem that as any better behaviour then what they are doing.
@@MrsRedMink yeah maybe i was being a bit harsh, and i see what you're saying, but i feel like the situations are a bit different of actually being part of a race/ethnicity and just pretending to achieve an "aesthetic". if someone were to respect the culture normally without claiming to have changed their race, that'd be a different story, it's good to respect other cultures. but i think the problem is within how they take an entire race and culture and boil it down to an aesthetic. I'm not asian so i can't say too much about it, but it feels incredibly ignorant for someone with barely any knowledge about the culture outside of like kpop and anime, as shown in the video, to claim themselves as that race to be "cute". i take back what i said about wanting them to be laughed at (and i edited my comment to be a little less harsh), because i think it's clear that these girls have an internal self-hatred and that's not something that should be fueled further, however i still heavily disagree with what they're doing

Kinda late but mentioning it only bc I haven’t seen anyone else say it; the girl in the thumbnail and at 1:34, Fuki Tanaka, is actually Japanese. Her video was stolen and someone RCTA put some random info on there to make it seem like she’s RCTA, but she’s not.
It's hilarious that they think a slur can be any word they make up if they just ask you not to say it, when there's zero proof that the word was ever used against them.
@@LadyOfTheNight.I think they tried to be quirky and wanted to blend in with the transgender folks by giving themselves a slur that JUST SO HAPPENS TO BE disturbingly similar to the trans slur I'm 100% sure they based the "rcta" concept off of what they thought the concept of transgender is, too
Love how they took a transphobic slur, took away the first letter, and then claimed it as their own slur. Way to highlight how they're mocking the transgender community as well 💀
most of these people think asia just means japan or korea not even the other parts like india taiwan pakistan bangladesh etc they just think they can be so kawaii and uwu vibes and this is very saddening like imagine your child learning all your culture and language just to reject it and try to become asian (Korean, Japanese)
I'm married to an East Asian lady and am currently still learning her family's language. It's a long road to learning the language, culture, customs etc. but it's also a lot of fun, very rewarding and highly recommended. I sit at my in-laws' table, use chopsticks like they do, appreciate the same food they do, speak (poorly) the same language they do, participate in their same traditional celebrations... ... and yet never once have I tried to literally be their ethnicity. I'm always a Westerner, just one who is broadening his horizons and who has an East Asian family by marriage. These wannabes are an insult to everything that East Asian cultures really are. A typical East Asian dad would disown any child acting like they do.
Nah, those people thought Asian is only Japan, Korea, China. No, India, Vietnam, Thai, Malaysia, Indonesia, Laos, and others Asian country didn’t exist. They thought that Asian are just some anime or Kdramas.
My cousins are British/Japanese, and one time, a girl called Sophie came up to them and said she was RCTA (White to Japanese) and asked for pointers on how to become Japanese. Apparently, Sophie was suspended for it. They still bring the story up on Christmas Dinner

I’m Japanese and grew up being bullied for it. Now people online have Japanese usernames and fake names, even in a lot of video game lobbies. I don’t blame them for liking Japanese sounding names, but I just wish it was like this a decade ago when I was still in middle/high school so I wouldn’t get bullied for it lol now people say I have a cool name and at first I thought they were secretly laughing behind my back!
same me with being chinese. I got constantly insulted and bullied relentlessely by a guy who now studies chinese at my same university 😭 and he also laughed at me when he saw me like bitch you hypocrite
when they say listen to asian music and learn asian languages they forget that india is actually in asia. i feel like when people say asian they think of japan, china, korea, vietnam and all of the other more know countries (no hate to these people). they also forget that pakistan, india, afganistán, sri lanka, russia, Indonesia, and a lot more countries (lmk if there are more that i missed cuz i don’t know them all). people are “transracial” and call themselves asian, but what they don’t know is that when they say asian, they may think that they are only thinking about china, japan, korea, vietnam and all of the east asian countries, but really they are including ALL of countries recognized in asia.
that girl in the start probably watches kpop all the time and thinks "wow korea is so cool! im becoming korean!" and then she finds out how korean women actually live.
There’s a line between “transracial” cringe and feeling like you’re part of a country. For example, I’m Asian (from Hong Kong) and I moved to the UK and I feel like I am British (like I’m a British citizen) but my race will always be Asian and I’ll always be from HK
I like the fact that everyone who wanna be asian only admires the "kawaii" aspect of certain countries like south korea and Japan while theres alot of other amazing countries rich in culture and traditions. These people are so delusional that the line between reality and this illusion is blurred. They cant tell the difference and the sad thing is reality is far more disappointing than anime and kdramas. Being south korean or japanese is a nationality, but actually appreciating their cultures and traditions is dedication; might not make you one of them but you can still be accepted. I like asian cultures and listen to jpop and a little kpop (expanding my taste and learning about new cultures) but i dont wanna live in japan or south korea or even become one. Im interestedin their cultures and like learning of the religions of them as well as thailand
Not to mention it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. Their cultures are EXTREMELY socially oppressive, and emphasize conformity and a strong social hierarchy above all other values. Anime is basically Japanese escapism.
Honesty as much as I like Japan, that place is the very last place I would want to visit. The place seems so strict that one wrong move and everyone is judging you like you just commit a crime
They don't know 90% of the 'kawaii cute asian girls' on social media use ton of photoshop editing and makeup. they dont look like that in real life, trust me
haha japanese culture is so "kawaii"! Japanese culture still being extremely sexist: Japanese culture being forceful on everyone to live up to a certain level regardless of who you are or what you do: Japan having one of the highest suicide rates: Young japanese adults not reproducing nearly enough due to them working too much just to live up to a minimum: but yeah anime and jpop are cool i guess
I took part in an ethics bowl team in college, which is a competituon where you're given real life scenarios to analyze from an ethical perspective over the year, then there's a competition where you're asked a question about the case and have to make arguments against another team. We spent most of a semester trying to describe why trans-racial is different from transgender. It's so obvious, but so hard to explain.
to be honest, they are both changing fundemental physical traits assigned at birth/the perception of them, I think it simply just we have been desensitized to one and not the other so it seems like there is a large contrast its mainly because of that imo
how is it obvious? i'd argue that transgenderism is even more outrageous than transracialism because different genders have different brain structures, whereas brain structures in men are mostly the same regardless of race.
As a half Korean, every time I make friends, they all just lie to me and say “I’m also Asian” because they think I only wanna be friends with Asian.. which isn’t even true. also, they act “cute” bc they think that’s all Asians do which is so stupid. and, they always joke with me and make racist jokes about me being Asian but then they say they’re Asian there self? girl bye, obviously not. and none of them even look Asian. it just makes me mad bc I wanna have other friends too not just Asian friends.
I’m Vietnamese (half) and it scares me to think that I will only be seen as a Smart Asian Kid, Busty Asian Woman or Cute Kawaii Asian Chick. I was heavily discriminated against for being Asian (although I’m not sure why students from the Phillipines, a country *pretty much next to mine* were safe from being threatened and laughed at) and now seeing people fetishising Asians, it makes my heart bleed. I’ve heard a couple of stories where people have gone to countries like Japan and had full on *existential crisises* because no one wears kimonos or uniforms and none of the teenagers were incredibly attractive like they are represented as in anime. I feel like Vietnam along with countries like India, Thailand, Pakistan, Mongolia, and Singapore are brushed aside because they’re “boring” (someone else’s words after I discussed this with them) and they don’t match the idealised aesthetic of Korea and Japan. If you want to learn about the values, culture, food, everyday life, or even politics of the country, go ahead. But just claiming to be Japanese or Korean because it’s “cute”, “desirable” or “special”… no one around you is gonna take you seriously.
I strongly agree with you. I'm South Asian and when I told people that I'm a South Asian they are gonna be like, "No, you aren't Asian because you're not Chinese or Korean." I mean Only Japan, Korea and China aren't the countries that fall within the Asian continent. There are Singapore, Thailand, India, Pakistan, Bhutan, Malaysia, Philippines, Nepal and many more. It won't be called as the largest continent if it had only 3 countries. And if you like their culture, values, foods, tradition you can just go on a tour or if you want to study there, yes, you absolutely can. But that doesn't make you Asian just because you feel connected to it. Claiming to be Asian just because it's "Cute" or "Special" is just stupid. Not every East Asian look like K-pop or those "cute" Asian influencers.
I'm asian and this is just.. super stereotypical and racist they think being asian is watching anime and listening to kpop and eating rice and ramen or smth💀

Like bruh
And it seems that almost everyone forgot that Asia is a continent...
@PouLS Yeah, they only fixate on East Asian culture which is only a part of the continent. There's just a total disregard for west Asia, South Asia, Central Asia, and South East Asia. A lot of people also seem to forget that Russia is a part of Asia.
Anyone that changes to become "Chinese", hell, just put them through the start of COVID-19 where Chinese people were discriminated against and killed for "starting the pandemic."
Racism towards the Chinese really reached an all-time high near that time.

I don't think necessarily, if they introduce themselves to new people with being korean or japanese and those people are decent and respectful people they will accept it (I mean how can you not accept the race of someone). I for example also tell people I am egyptian when they ask for my race or heritage, but I can't speak the language and I don't "look" typically egyptian either, but it doesn't change the fact that I am trough my parents and I am thankful for having friends who don't take that away from me just because of my looks and language and instead respect me (even my arab friends)
I know that is a different situation than the one in the video, but I do think there are some similarities. Personally I don't see a problem with what these girls are doing as long as they are happy and respectful, it doesn't really hurt anyone, whatever floats your boat kind of thing, you don't really have to befriend them.
But also I think it is to overthink if you gain happiness from random people getting laughed at and I wouldn't deem that as any better behaviour then what they are doing.
fr stupid rannies

These people are so delusional that the line between reality and this illusion is blurred. They cant tell the difference and the sad thing is reality is far more disappointing than anime and kdramas. Sometimes it's the obvious things that are hard to explain, I feel u man
how is it obvious? i'd argue that transgenderism is even more outrageous than transracialism because different genders have different brain structures, whereas brain structures in men are mostly the same regardless of race.

Yeah, this is textbook fatherless behaviour.
it's a parody of a transphobic slur. the entire thing started on 4chan as a transphobic parody movement
@@emmabellhelium yeah it started as a transphobic parody movement to make trans people look stupid and absurd
@@emmabellheliumThe two movement aren't the different though. They appeal to the same logic; this 'race-change' thing has been anticipated since the popularity of the trans increased
@@relajado-fx5rf But isn't that just ...complete nonsense to anyone with a functioning brain?
Like, I would think people saying this were trolling if there weren't so damn many of them.
It's funny how Vietnam is part of the cute kawaii stuff when in reality, we probably have the widest vocabulary of profanity and the most basic "fuck you" is reduced to a mom joke.
As a fellow native.....
I wholeheartedly agree with this statement.
Some examples (Northern) for people: địt mẹ mày, địt cụ mày, địt cả lò nhà mày,… and other profanities including vaginas and penises, like a lot a lot and you can always come up with more.
and it doesn't stop at only mom joke
The closet thing related to kawaii culture I can think of is 2 Phut Hon, which isn't even cute from any standards...
I never heard of people saying Vietnam is part of the cute culture, but it might be where I’m living in currently. People only know Vietnam as pho and banh mi here lol and I’m in Southern California with a dense Vietnamese population
1:35 I feel bad. This is I believe gyaru. Imagine going on tt and seeing your video as the bg of a rcta video.
As an East Asian American we do not claim them
Can we talk about how their 'slur' sounds a LOT like a certain communities slur? It's almost as if they're aware of the negative impact this has on the trans community but don't care because they just want to be 'special' and if it hurts the trans community in the process, oh well
Yea as a trans person, the so called slur almost feels like satire?
Like SHEESH it’s ONE LETTER AWAY
kinda weird how they dont want to be hated but still made up a slur for themselves
That's exactly what I thought. When he said "Ranny is a slur" I misheard and was like "Yeah no shit!" Then looked up and was like "Oh......" 😂@@sweetsourorange
Yeah this really is not only racist but also really hurtful to trans people

The sad thing is, is that these people don't realize that being white/black/Hispanic/etc. is nothing to be ashamed of.
"I want to be asian" but only korean or japanese. Not one of the "bad" ones like chinese, taiwanese, Indonesian, malaysian....
I hate how cultures are seen as trendy and whatnot.
I’m Moroccan and have pale-ish tan-ish skin brown hair and green eyes and when we were in class we were doing a “where are you from?” Thingy and when I put Morocco (a country in Africa) half the class got really upset and accused me for lying Africa isn’t just Kenya, Sudan, and other stereotypical countries in Africa just like how Asia isn’t only china, Japan, Korea
Ugh people are so ignorant. Like it’s actually kind of scary how the general public has no concept of history or geography.
Btw you sound beautiful, I wish I had green eyes.
A friend of mine (Tunisian) and I (Turkish) have the exact same problem. We're both mixed and pretty pale and we've both heard from multiple people that we can't be African and Asian, that we're not a *real* African/Asian. Because she's not black and I don't have monolids (...why would we?). People are painfully ignorant.

as a subliminal user, we do not claim rcta people at all. subliminals are there to manifest, (for example, im currently manifesting for better grades) subliminals aren't there to change your physical appearance in any way, they're supposed to make you feel better about yourself. for example, you can listen to a beauty subliminal, to convince yourself that you're beautiful. subliminals are pretty much just "fake it till you make it"
A great way to prove that manifesting works, is that you manifest that you're gonna see some red flowers soon, then you go outside on a walk or something. since you manifested that you're gonna see red flowers, you'll obviously notice red flowers when you're walking by them, because you really focused on what you wanted.
subliminals only work if you truly believe in yourself, but they cant change things like eye color or race. thats completely *wrong*
Thank you. I was looking for this comment. I hardly ever use appearance subliminals, except for the white teeth one from moza. I actually only use them for grades, but I study while listening to them, so I’m putting in the work and listening to them.
Also, hi fellow subliminal user! Who’s your fav channels? Mines moza morph and mii !

Then that’s their problem if they think that you’re like these people trying to change their race (which you’re not). I think it’s wonderful that you’re learning a new language to learn more about the Japanese culture :).
No, I don't think most people will think you're like that. This is the first time I've ever heard of this, really. When people tell me they want to learn different languages, I think that's cool. Never be afraid to expand your horizons, and as long as you approach other cultures with respect and wanting to learn and honor it, most people from those cultures are really happy to help you learn!
only if you are white though
