- 20lbs of my Ultimate Vanilla Cake dyed pink stacked high with Italian meringue buttercream make up this thirst-quenching cake! To kick it up a notch, I fit this cake with a plastic container inside and filled it with watermelon juice! Then, I wrapped it up in fondant and a custom Wacky Melon label. How do you cut pieces of a cake like that with so many wood dowels?
QuIqUe190m you take the dowels out before you cut it
There's lots of ways! Usually you want to remove the dowels but it depends on the cake. If there's only a few sometimes they can help you keep form, but honestly I think the best way is to remove them and then take the cake apart by layer (marked by the cardboard support sheets) so it doesn't fall.
