I feel like a marine was directly responsible for this vehicle. After he was done snorting Crayola he asked if they could put a rotary cannon, surface to air missiles and rocket pods all on the same 8 wheels. And make it float lol
The Marines have a habit of cobbling things together to suit their needs. This thing looks like the LAV version of the “Stinger” MG.
Actually they made the Lav AD for the marines specifically xD

As a Canadian soldier, I was around when LAVs came into service, beat the heck out of riding around in Vietnam bread boxes (113s). You're correct on the versatility. I have seen the LAV frame mounted with everything from, 50 cals, 20mm , toe2 , mortars, and even a bloody big 120mm main gun. As a battlefield taxi, it's pretty good ( as long as you up armor them for mines/IEDs). For the full effect when playing it, I recommend mixing a little diesel with a dash of vomit into a cup of black coffee wrapped in old sweaty sox to get the right odor and take one wheel off your chair so you get the real experience trying to aim wile your hungover driver manages to hit EVERY. DAM. DICH. lol

Greater chance was that your driver wasn’t actually hungover as often as he appeared, he just liked to run through the ditches and make ya suffer 😂

See, thats my thought. A lot of the the trees could have chassises compressed into single vehicles, more like WoT. So you can unlock the M-60, then the A-1, then the RISE, etc, etc. It would make more sense imo.
The problem might wlso be an extreme form of br compression like seen in WOT, right now for the game to keep balanced it needs decompression. Then again thats just my take as someone who sank many hours into both, WOT is just as grindy as WT and this customisibility wound not mesh well with WT’s more historically accurate mindset. If modification based br was implemented it might work for more modular platforms like the LAV.

I live near the main Canadian manufacturer for the LAV, which makes vehicles for the Canadian Army and for export worldwide. I've seen some really crazy things mounted on these vehicles as they've been loaded on trains for shipping. Things that range from multiple surface to air weapons, gatlings, and tank guns in turrets.
I retract any bad things I may have said about the AMX BRENUS. This thing has clearly been designed by Homer Simpson's dictum: "If less is more, imagine how much more MORE is!"
They only stopped sticking stuff onto the core vehicle when they ran out of stuff to stick. They must have already used the torpedoes and the OS2U launch catapult on something else.
Though there is a LAV-AT that looks like evil WALL-E with many TOWs wandering around.

You may have come up with an interesting idea have the lav ad without a turret but instead a catapult that launches predator drones.
Once I was driving on the highway, somewhere in the afternoon on a warm summer day in Belgium when I overtook a small convoy of LAVs, 3 or 4 of them, with different loadouts. Long 20mm cannon, 75mm gun, rocket launcher, ... It was so amazing to see them driving on the highway and I could just drive next to them. I assumed they went to the capital for a military show (it was near the national holiday in Belgium).
Gau-12 is different than the GAU-8 on the Thunderbolt, Gau-12s are used in AC-130s and AV-8B Harriers for example.

The stinger is only good when the enemy has completed his run and is disengaging / moving AWAY from you.
If he's lateral or facing you' don't even bother... it can't maneuver tightly enough.
Use the gun for closing targets, use the stinger for targets moving away

Battlefield 4 doesn't have an Apache. The AH-1Z is, and is also in War Thunder.

While tanks had rocket pods, many just had individual larger rockets. An example are like Cromwell and Staghound with RP-3s, but only the Cromwell RP-3 is in game. The Staghound with RP-3s is able to actually aim them with the gun elevation/depression, whereas the Cromwell has them in a fixed mount. This fixed mount limits your vertical aim, but you can slam on brakes to make them fire lower. Regardless of this, I'd like to get another Staghound in game for the Brits, even if it's not the rocket one. I honestly can't comprehend why more British armored cars of WWII haven't been added.

Most Stinger revisions are Hit-to-Kill. It is only the most recent versions that have proximity fusing, which was added to increase lethality against drones, and the missile will still attempt hit first. It only sets off the proxy fuse when it predicts it is going to miss.

My father serviced in the marines, the vehicles he was in were the LAVs. Not the auntie aircraft one in war thunder, but the one with the 25mm. But just to see the LAV in War Thunder is really cool and intriguing!
Phly, if you ever get the time , please consider playing the AM-1 Mauler and the M-18 "Black Cat" , it's a monstrous combo
Imagine being able to choose the pods like aircraft. Just replace the hydras with a TOW, Hellfire, or Javelin rack, but keep the Stingers on the other side, for an anti-everything loadout. It would be utterly unstoppable.

Hello Phly, it's been 2 years since your last vickers video, the british mbts, a new vickers has been added at a recent update, the Vickers Mk.3. And it's a very nice tank overall, 8.0, full stab, laser rangefinder and heatfs, a good and very appreciated choice for the british that would make a good video! (Day 5).

GAU isn't a guy, it's the standard Air Force prefix for guns mounted in aircraft (sort of). It's short for Gun, Aircraft, Unit. Weapons that are used by other services still get a GAU designation for Air Force duty (with a notable exception being the 20mm M61 Vulcan, likely because it came into service before this designation system was put into place). A good example would be the classic 7.62 mm minigun, which is the M134 to the Army, and either GAU-2 or GAU-17 to the Air Force.
Stingers do not have a proximity fuse. That’s why they don’t explode on near misses. It has to impact to explode, or else it’ll just self destruct after a certain point.
the FIM-92K *should* have one, as the FIM-92K is a modification of the 92J which added a proximity fuse
@@minigunuser25 Huh, that was news to me. Seems so. I only knew about the datalink addition. But, from what I've read the proxy fuse range is only 1m, so that may be why it's still tricky to get a hit.
And, the J actually seems to have a self-selective impact/proxy fuse ability.

In Brazil most of our vehicles are like the LAV, an plataform that holds multiple kinds of weapon systems. I Wonder when WT gonna release Brazilian vehicles.
I know there's not too many vehicles but at least they should add some iconic ones like "Osório" and "Guarani"
It's a shame this thing never actually went anywhere irl. It's definitely the ultimate.infantry fighting vehicle. Can provide good defense from air attacks with it's gun and Stingers, can destroy enemy positions with it's gun, and act as artillery with the rockets.

Hey man, been watching your channel for a long time. But I need to bring up my background and my current views because I feel like you're... well someone I could get along with I suppose. My name is Ben, 32 yrs old, was a 12B (Combat Engineer) in the US Army. I specialized in route clearance, was an Armour, battalion trainer on the Javelin, was dismounted security (M249) along with being a mounted gunner (MK19, M2, M240) and a CROWS operator, along with other training. I am a combat veteran of Afghanistan, cleared Route 1 near Tangi (FOB Airborne [Maidan Shahr] to the gates of Ghazni). Before I joined the army, I accomplished gaining my private pilots license and instrument rating, along with aerobatic, multi, and float. I was a flight test (fucked up [reckless driving] the night prior but passed my written and oral above 90%) away from my commercial pilots license.
That's me man. I'm neither democratic nor republican cause those fucks are driven by mob mentality. I believe in peace but I will thoroughly enjoy war in anticipation of said beautiful stagnancy. But before anything that I can be braggadocious to, I am honest.

In case you didn’t know, the FIM-92 stinger is an anti helicopter missile and was not made to target planes
No it wasn’t, the STINGER system being a MANPAD system was designed to replace the older REDEYE suite.
The STINGER was designed to target fast, low flying, ground attack airframes. The fact that the Mujahideen used it to great effect against Soviet attack aviation during the invasion of Afghanistan is pure happenstance.
