The Gershwin opening tune was mind-blowing...! Amazing. Almost indistinguishable from a true clarinet solo (although during the last note, the tone resolution seemed too low (?) to get the slow vibrato sounding genuine). The best demo of the capability of seaboard I've heard.
Lol why did you guys use such a high octave to demo a “baritone” sax. You guys made it sound like an alto haha

Technically, It's not synthesized, It's sampled.
@Ralph Macchiato Ultimately yes. Our brain uses exterior tools to view the world around it. We are literally trapped in a space less than half a foot large. Now back to the original point.
It's comparable to traditional vs digital art. Painting on canvas is great and all, but you can produce more or less the same result on a computer and drawing tablet. I'd argue that both can be appreciated equally and that they are all just tools to create. It is entirely up to the artist to decide what is good and efficient to use, and what is not (I'm looking at you, autotune).

@@OupazasMedia No it's not. It's physical modeling. Purely calculated. THere are no samples present in these algorithms. For good reasons: You could never reach this flexibility and purity with sample based synthesis.

This pair is excellent. The quality of SWAM really makes a beautiful pair with a Roli. The only challenge is playing chords - since the notes are narrower and shallower. But for playing monophonic lines with full expression, this can't be beat. Guess I'll have to get the full size RISE, but this little guy seems so compact it'll just sit on top of any keyboard, and fit in a laptop bag. :) Can you guys add the sample modeling Trumpet 3 and Trombone 3. It'll compliment so well the SWAM.
To bad none of these sounds are available. Period. Link disabled. Noise app unsupported. Roli bankrupt. True tragedy how such a cool company could have been mismanaged to this point.

@@michaelmoore1434 - Kind of. They made an Android app but it doesnt actually work. And after nearly 2 years they still havent made any updates. And these sound packs are most certainly not free. I dont mind paying the money, I just wish Roli would produce some tutorial videos on how to get everything connected and ready to play! They dont.

@@gutotx Why do that instead of plugging in iPad via usb, and enabling from Audio Midi Setup? Stream audio right in! Not to mention you can now just use as an External Instrument to use with your main keyboard. No complicated routing necessary.

Nice demo, very expressive playing on these wonderful sounding Swam instruments that are so responsive to MPE control!
Only odd thing to me was that you played some of the instruments in atypical ranges. For example, you played the baritone sax in the tenor and alto range and then you played the alto sax in the tenor/ bari range. It might have been nice to hear the oboe “sing” about an octave above where you played it, where it really stands out in many orchestral situations.

This is some licensing deal with Roli as the VST's will cost you $250 a piece.
Can you pitch bend between blocks?
No, there holding of the bend ends at the crease but continues after the momentary silence... so it's not that noticable really.

So... ROLI is aware of the fact that many of their customers are Android and Windows users, but still they're making content only for a few? Why should I buy the full version of equator if I don't get the full content possible with my device? I was thinking of buying equator, but now...
Don't bother with Equator. Roli haven't made any developments in there for years. All this cool SWAM stuff is only for iOS. Which is rubbish. If they gave a shit about customers who'd paid for premium products like Seaboard and Grand then there would be a desktop version of the Noise app or at least some sort of equivalent.
SWAM isn't made by Roli. Equator is a synth. You can buy and use SWAM products on PC or Mac and use them with ROLI products. Although much more expensive
I know this. SWAM are Kontakt instruments which isn't designed well for use with Roli products (legato switching etc..) But here we have a Roli collaboration with SWAM and Roli. And Roli have decided to make it exclusive to iOS and Blocks users. While those of us who have arguable paid more for products like Seaboard and Grand are unable to use them.
They aren't Kontakt instruments. They are made by Audio Modelling and work in any DAW without Kontakt. And they have controllers built in specifically for Roli.
OK fair enough they can be used standalone also. Doesn't explain why Blocks and iOS users are getting preference on these new Roli/SWAM collabs. Block users can gain some of the benefits of these for about €10 whereas I have to go buy the full plugin for hundreds more? Seems unfair
Why are all these cool sounds go for the noise app ? Surely Roli is an amazing device and these sounds are awesome too but i slowly started to regret getting the full version of the equator for pc...

looking for the more "accoustic" sounds i could have bought the swam engine and packs seperatly rather than buying the full equator. I am not saying equator is bad , yes the full version makes it very flexible but it makes me sad that all these packs going out on the Noise rather than the more expensive and potential wise better Equator.
Yes, I completely agree with this. I want to be able to work in Logic with these sounds. Seems crazy that they are only being released in noise!

Man, holy (cuss word)...I got a ROLI seaboard block and...I tried to find a cello sound. Couldn't find anything good with the stuff that came with it for free. Either that, or I'm not a computer nerd enough to find it. So, I went online and tried to figure out how the hell a person can get some good cello. Found SWAM. Thought it sounded pretty darn good. But it is so (cuss word here) hard to figure out how to BUY it...get it? I mean, this is what happens when you try to get into digital audio stuff...you step into the world where they just want to figure out how to make the most money off you as they can...but these people are too stupid to make it easy for them to reach into my wallet. Even if I wanted to hand them my credit card...I have no idea how to get it to them. Where's Steve Jobs when you need him? I mean, come one...make it easy to take money. Don't just sit there and want it...

This is WHAT I need. Especially the SWAM Woodwinds, since I play the clarinet and my brother plays the oboe. While I am terrible at playing my clarinet, I am able to play the piano, so this and the Seaboard (well, BLOCK) will be a perfect combo. Edit: I got my SWAMs and a Seaboard Block. ;)
On an irrelevant subject, I have been seeing lots of comments on “What about Android?” stuff, which is targeting the NOISE app that only appears in Apple devices and the Google Pixel family. As much as I want ROLI to launch their Android version of NOISE (because I am an ANDROID USER too, so you guys can’t really do anything about it...), you guys should know that ROLI’s trying their best to give us one. There are tons of different Android phones from different brands, and since Apple’s software (which I don’t really know much about) is easier to work on, ROLI could only put NOISE on Apple...... for now.
Really glad you liked it Oscar - good luck rocking that clarinet! And thanks for being understanding - we'd absolutely love to offer NOISE to more Android users, but unfortunately the audio quality required for NOISE just isn't possible on most Android devices (yet).
How about NOISE for the MS Windows 8 or 10 platform?
I second what Danny says also, these packs need to be available on blocks dashboard and equator. I would buy them in a heartbeat.

BUYER BEWARE ! For ALL ROLI PRODUCTS, once the rechargeable battery dies, you're stuck with a nice EXPENSIVE PAPERWEIGHT.. Their internal Batteries are UNREPLACEABLE and my SEAVIEW wont work without it.. everything electrical charges the battery there's no direct power supply ..stupidest thing ever!!!

Am excellent demo, but guess what? Those great SWAM sounds require an iPhone (or iPad) and don't run on Android, which has a MUCH higher percent of the market (82%) and cost half the price. What a deep disappointment. This information should be on this video. Without this info the video is deeply deceptive.
I've noticed there's like this hunt-and-peck technique being employed,. You don't play this thing like a normal synth.
Well of course, it's not a normal keyboard so the technique will be different
This is because the instruments being demonstrated are monophonic, i.e. can only play one note at a time, this part of the technique is to make it sound natural for the instrument type, not just because of the keyboard. The expression aspect (change in the sound of the note as it is played) is also a particular technique for this MPE keyboard.
RIP to the UA-camrs which get millions of views but get no money because of music copyrights

The quarter note resolution of note bends on the seaboard is painfully obvious here. And i'll keep pointing it out until ROLI adresses this and offers a truly continuous bend.
AUv3 pleeeaaase and I buy them all. Right now it's a waste of money. The Noise app is amazing but too simplistic. 4 slots is really not a lot

It's 'Hungarian Dance No.5' by Johannes Brahms. But in the video, it's played in A Minor as opposed to its original key of G Minor (just a whole step/2 semitones up, if you'd like the specifics of it).
if i have to slide through the gap between two seaboard blocks, what will happen? will they separated? will the note discontinued for a sec?
i’m kinda hoping someone experiment with that and tell me since i’m choosing between two blocks or one 49 rise.
So can you actually do a single slide from lowest C to top B or won't it work over the connection point ?
you can't slide over the connection point, if you need wide range slide then go for the rise 49

Yes but for mono instruments it's much more realistic to layer them with multiple instances

I think this is mostly for artists who can’t afford to hire professional people over and over for songs. The SWAM collection for $1500 or $1500 a song for a string quartet and a few horns for one recording sesh... hmmm

Extremely limited iOS support and no desktop version of the Noise app means that these SWAM engine instruments are practically useless to almost everyone except a small few. I paid premium money for a Seaboard and I'm limited by this Apple iOS crap? Why no support for this in Equator or a desktop version of the Noise app? Maybe then all of us who have paid good money for these Roli products can actually avail of them. I've grown increasingly annoyed with Roli as a company. This exclusivity to certain hardware and formats is total rubbish.
