  • Filmed from the top of a tram - a journey through the centre of Belfast in around 1900. I've recolorised this with #Deoldify - I think it looks pretty great! Please note: I make NO copyright claims in relation to this material.

Final few frames seem to be at Albert Clock.

This film is excellent though it's a shame that throughout, the camera is tilted in a downward direction, and you really can 't recognise many shops, buildings or really tell where you are. Spotted Robinson & Cleaver's store though, which I remember. Many thanks for posting.

Is there anyway I can get a copy of this video? My father believes the one legged man at 1:21 might be his grandfather. He owned a cobblers on Corporation Street not far from this street

At 3.12 you get a glimpse of Arnott's Store which was at the corner of Bridge Street and High Street. Indeed, just after that there is a sneaky glimpse of the base of the Albert Clock at the end of High Street. Great footage - just a pity not able to identify clearly other landmarks/buildings.

Must presume, the fellows with the bowler hats were Orange, and the chaps with the caps were Papists. The ladies dress so elegant at that time with their flowing dress and hats. Very interesting footage. Surprised at the quality and absence of jerkiness

I noticed that their was a certain style of dress that seemed very popular because many of the women looked like copies of each other (black, ankle length skirt, white blouse, straw boater hat). Weird.

Not sure about the "black" part... Remember this is colourized by some algorithm which basically "guesses" the colour, and it's quite possible that various different colours in a darker shade (e.g., dark green, dark blue, maroon, etc.), which would show up as "black" in the original B&W footage, ended up as "black" in this colourized version... I once saw a "colourized" video featuring the Olympic team of Finland, and the flags in their chest were colourized as red crosses on white (like the flag of England) instead of the Finish flag (blue cross on a white field). AI is not very smart, after all...
