Just pass a law that makes it a 10 year mandatory prison sentence for converter theft (with no chance of parole meaning you have to serve all 10 years no matter what) and you'd see that shit stop immediately. There's simply not enough of a punishment being handed to these scumbags.
I think a shield delays cat theft. With the right tools, it can be stolen anyway but it would take more time and noise. It works for me since two years now after the original cat was stolen.
I just love saying, "Go ahead punk, make my day" when I pull out my Smith and Wesson Model 29 .44 magnum and just one shot tells the punks that they're not dealing with some wimpy 9mm !!!
Unless you're awake at 3:30am looking out the window with your smith & Wesson in hand as the thief is in the act it won't stop anything as it takes less then a minute to to steal a converter
So a one time fee of $1000 and you can turn in hundreds of converters legitimately? Considering what they make in profits, this wouldn’t deter anything sadly
@@bobsmithinson2050 while I do agree with the loop hole that it does create…… but it sets a barrier to entry…… then we could go from there….. I do challenge you though….. what would be a good solution that would help stem the theft???
Or in my case = just have a car that had some body damage & the punks pass by my car while other cars in good condition are getting their catalytic converters ripped off right & left !!!
Aim for manly men, they hate the idea of getting pillfered like a trick. Plus whose behind it is like mid-twenties guy with a stubble, that's like making them a trick. Aim for people that have muscle cars and exotic furbirshed interiors ........

Forget that, death penalty on the spot. it will NEVER happen again.
That's that sweet affirmative action in the mayor's office for ya.
LOL. Ya right. US laws love criminals here.
Had a shield on mine and they still managed to take it, but had to work for it. Laws are to lenient on assholes.
How exactly did they get around it, slide it out or cut the bolts?
She said 1-2 grand lmaoooo I just paid $5000 to replace mine
Same
Why can’t they make the people who makes cars a barrier for the catalytic converters,

They need to invent a peice that lops off someone's hand if they try to steal it. Problem solved.
Yup. Make it spring loaded!
@@LOLmusics You can do it yourself, bear traps cost $11 each, attach a few of them onto the converter & pipe around using fence wire easy peasy.
Smith and Wesson makes some very good tools that will stop thieves dead in their tracks.

@@pharoahmiller2117 What do you suggest someone should do to protect themselves?
Or you can have an aftermarket converter. They aren’t worth anything. (Maybe $10 resale) only OEM converter are worth money.
They'll be out on bond in about a week SMH
Please donate all those cats to people who had them stolen!
A .45 stops that cat getting cut!!
You have to catch them first.
@@NITTY103166 and they literally take 2 minutes to do it
Use the RICO Act on those crooks.
Bolt on shield
Step 1: Remove bolts
They are special tool bolts. Just researched this.
Here is a thought you have to have a license to sell a converter to a scrap yard. 1000 dollars per license!!!!!

Why is she holding her phone 🤔
She's a reporter. Reporters routinely use notepads and tablets for note-taking. A cell phone serves the same purpose.
Cat shields are BS. Still got it stolen… what a fuckig scam
Yep. And my car wasn’t even a really old car and model that they usually go after… 2013 Audi… stolen even after I installed a cat shield.
Thanks for wasting my time for the answer
4 cylinder new Hondas are harder cause the cat is in the engine bay
Just drive a 20 year old car and you will not have to have one on your car

They took mine off my 15yo truck. Guess it wasn't quite old enough 😩

And still, no cure. Like waiting for student loan debts to get canceled.
I’m not paying for your stupid decisions.
Ayyyye..who got den converters...I need one...price????😂😂frfr tho😶😐
