How to safely remove old paint from hardwood floors without chemicals.

A safe chemical free way to clean off 15 year old paint, carpet glue, gunk and grime from hardwood floors. After removing old carpet we discovered we had beautiful hardwood floors. We didn't want to use chemicals in our bedroom so we did some research. This method worked great! No chemicals, just a little elbow grease! It also removed 20 year old wallpaper easily! Does it have to be with distilled water?

I see you asked about the distilled water, have you tried this yet and if so did you use regular water? I'm about to try this today, seem's like it should work.

Distilled water SHOULD be used in a steamer or the impurities from the tap water will leave metal-like chunks, in the steamer tank…
