I had no idea about this demake but after watching about 10 minutes of this video it looks amazing! The creator behind this should be seriously proud of what they've done. I love the Megaman series but was never really interested in playing X7 or X8 because they just never looked good to me, but according to the creator it's one of their favorites so to have the game redone by a big fan of the original and also in the SNES style like this? Perfect. Nice job dude. And thanks Jerd for bringing awareness to another awesome project like this!
Avoid X7, X8 is pretty fun. The problem with X7 is it's pretty much a rough beta that was rushed to completion, everything about the gameplay is rough and lacking in polish/refinement.
I have to say the sprite work on this game is beautiful. Masterfully done on the part of the developer. 16-bit has always been my favorite generation personally.
Is it weird that I'd rather see this with X7? Like, X8 was... fine, just kind of okay, but X7 was actually bad. That's the game I'd want to see revisited and fixed up.
The thing is, X7 just has... Nothing to salvage. It would have to be essentially a 100% original game, rather than mending the cruddy parts of something.
@@KaedeLanyoI mean the level design of this game is completely different than the original X8 so I would say this in itself is a different game but yeah the real reason is no one likes or cares about X7, He put Red in this game though so at least there is that
@@MitoRequiem A large amount of the level design is actually taken straight from the original or otherwise adapted/streamlined. The approach frankly seems fantastic. Very good understanding of what does and does not work, from a game design standpoint, as well as for the "tone" that's being emulated. Obviously there is also a lot of original content, particularly the old vehicle levels. I'm not knocking any of this down. It's just that there is very little inspiration that one can keep from X7, elements to emulate, even. The full 3D sections being so common being part of the issue, but also, what is there even in 2D sections, is so basic and boring, that you wouldn't actually _want_ to adapt it. That said there could be merit to fully reimagining the game, but it would be a massive endeavor. Creating something essentially fully new, will always take a lot more work.
I followed this project from its inception. I love how it came out. The changes the dev made help the game so much better. MMX Corrupted is another project I'd been eager anticipating.
Bamboo Pandemonium is essentially *the* first level you'd normally tackle in X8 unless you were after a more challenging start to the game. His level seemed really short in this demake but was otherwise fine.
This is pretty cool. I remember liking X8 as a kid, although it definitely felt complicated maybe overly so in its mechanics and visuals, so this kind of simplicity is really nice to see. Please more.
This is amazing. On top of that, that website you've linked too has some other nice games as well. After this game, it'd be great to see you play more games from that site.
Nice seeing you playing this Demake, I enjoyed it a lot when played It myself. I like when you play this kind of fangames or romhacks, it's also a great way to know hidden jewels made by the fans.
So awesome - what a great find! I would have never thought to demake MegaMan X8 like this! Once again, the fan community showing the blue bomber more love than Capcom! I wonder if there are any plans to demake X7 as well...to, you know, make it actually playable lol. What a fun hidden gem you've brought to us again Jerd. I would have never heard of this otherwise. One of the many reasons why I love your channel my dude. Looking forward to a full playthrough 😎
The person behind this said they're not going to do X7 because they didn't enjoy anything about that title, where they enjoyed X8. Felt the logic was "I want to work on something I like."
This game had great VAs in both the English and Japanese version. Bamboo Pandemonium's English VA is kind of legendary in just how calm and done he sounds while Vile's Japanese VA sounds like he's smoked all of the cigarettes in the world and wants seconds.
I just started playing this some days ago, it's awesome! You didn't remember the Optic Sunflower part because it was totally different in the ps2. The game has a different level design in various aspects. some stages, boss patters like the Pandemonium desperation attack at 50% health, and so much more
I just played this game a few days ago. It really is great all the way to the end. 14:32 you can actually punch the gate and walk right in there with the ride armor even though it looks like you won’t fit. Kind of surprised you didn’t try that.
Definitely a blast of the past. I look forward to seeing you play through this as I know I've seen this work and it looks great so I hope to see how far you can take this fan rework in beating the game! Looking forward to more of these videos in the future!
X8 was better than just fine, but we were dragged so far down low in the X5-X7 era, that getting a good game just wasn't something we were ready for. No one knew how to feel about it. But it was good!
I played all of the X Games just last year, and I still have no recollection of the boss fight with Bamboo Pandemonium... The game looks so good though! Will definitely play it when I get off work
This game demake is great. And rather tough at times. Only thing I'd wish for is a soundtrack made with instruments from X2/X3. No Zero is a bummer but dev DID say that'd have taken too much time and he had already taken way longer than he wanted to.
What gets under my skin is that he said he was excluding Zero and Axl for time... but then he _completely rewrote the entire story from the ground up._ Wouldn't it have taken less time to just copy and paste the old story? You don't need to include the other two as playable characters, but there's no reason to cut them from the story...
Nice, I wasn't expecting to see X8 here. I watched Calebhart play it on release but I'll absolutely watch another playthrough of it! Looking forward to MMX Corrupted which I'll probably end up playing, and I'm guessing Jerd will eventually play as well.
I never played any of the megaman x games, despite loving all the nes megaman games. So this is very bizarre but cool to me. Also video 15 of asking Jared to check out " Buck Rogers countdown to doomsday " sometime, maybe for dndcember?
Pallette played like Axel Layer played like Zero and Alia was a Megaman clone Unlocking them was a bit of a hassle but it was cool to be able to play them
I loved playing as the navigators, but it kind of bums me out that Alia is so badly nerfed compared to X. Because they have the same chips, and she can't equip armor, she just always takes full damage... X doesn't have a damage reduction chip since he relies on his armor to do that for him.
I haven't played X8 in forever. It's the only X game I've never revisited (as in, I've even revisited X7 more times) because of the obnoxious currency system they added. For as fun as the game is, I've never felt compelled to want to return to needing to farm for money in a Mega Man game. Especially with how tedious it becomes to buy everything. That aside, I actually remember liking the game quite a bit. Not as much as some of the older games, but after the series had been going downhill for some time, X8 was definitely a step back in the right direction.
From what I've seen of this, it's pretty well put together except for a few things, mainly later on... Some of the endgame and optional content could have used more restraint. I'm curious to see what you think of it.
I hope he continues this playthrough. I liked X8, though not perfect, I felt it was a return to form that the PS era (aside from X4) seemed to miss. The only thing not going for the game was the graphics didn't do the game justice; this de-make seems like just the thing for it.
I played an earlier build a couple of months ago and OMG it kicked my butt so hard... also the Optic Sunflower stage, you ahve to play it PERFECTLY to even get the armor piece at the end of the stage, in time, no hit, kill all enemies to reach an S Rank... I hope they loosened that up a little bit
This looks so incredible and how it would look if it came 10 years earlier. I have to agree that this entry is just OK. Nothing too terrible, but nothing too exciting. Much better than X7. But then, most anything would be.
I think I played more of this Demake, then the actual game, which I only recently started playing because of the collections that were released awhile ago, god if someone could fix X7 to something like this, maybe then that game could actually be enjoyable.
I would say this is nice, but I don't have almost any memories about X8, and honestly all the SNES megaman games look kinda the same as each other so... not very exciting for me. Really good job by the creator though. Although having watched the episode... megaman is always fun I guess haha.
@@chewymew Well, to the X then. 11 is 6 years old already, time flies huh The collections were ok, and Dive Offline was cool, I guess, but so long we had something this exciting X6 is from 2001, and the original X8 2004, two decades. BURN
BURN TO THE GROUND
I read the developer of this X8 demake hated X7 too much to do that
The thing is, X7 just has... Nothing to salvage. It would have to be essentially a 100% original game, rather than mending the cruddy parts of something.

I somehow skipped form X2 to eventually playing X8 at random and actually really dug it (well the gameplay). This is hype AF!
That ain't Vile. That's Jodo Kast
That's a dope demake ngl. Thanks for putting it on my radar!
I saw this project time ago. Now, let's enjoy Jared playing this ;)
Seeing this I think its about time I rewatch all the other Mega Man stuff on this channel for a 4th time.
For a moment I thought I could play it on my SNES mini, but this is actually a PC game.
Yeah, when the gameplay started I noticed it looks too good to be a _real_ SNES game (even though it's emulating SNES-style visuals).
This game had great VAs in both the English and Japanese version. Bamboo Pandemonium's English VA is kind of legendary in just how calm and done he sounds while Vile's Japanese VA sounds like he's smoked all of the cigarettes in the world and wants seconds.
500 cigarettes.
Vile's VA as same of Sigma is kinda weird to see
Well I guess I've been under a rock. All I have to say is OMFG!!!!! X8 is one of my favorites. I can't wait to try this one!!
The sprites are so well made. Exactly in the style of the originals, and Capcom's 2D was peak at the time. 😵
i LOVE megaman, and would love to see this completed 💚

Oh he'll yeah brother! I saw that this was in development a while ago, and I'm super stoked to see it ready to go!
YOOO JARED YOU'RE GONNA LOVE THIS
I love Mega Man! It sucks that fans do more with the franchise than Capcom, but I'm definitely here for this
I'm super hyped! Mega Man X content and a classic game in a new way!
This looks cool, wonder if X7 would ever get this treatment, maybe make a good version of that game.
Finished this a few days ago…except Serenade. That boss battle is insane even if you know what to do.

I always like the idea of a Demake, taking a 3D game and making it 2D.
The thing is X8 is a 2D game, it's just had 3D graphics. Making me question what's the point of a 2D demake if just plays like the original.
I'd love to see Capcom do this 16 bit style with X9 if they ever do make it.
I'd love to see someone try to tackle Mega Man X7 and demake it into a 16 bit era game.
