Absolutely adore Ocarina of Time. Fond memories of getting a N64 and it for Christmas as a kid. Fully immersing myself, learning the melodies on piano (Especially the windmill song), talking about recent discoveries at school. One of my favourites and so glad you've decided to cover this as a playthrough. I love how excited you are about each bit in this, also clearly the Zelda voice actor we deserve. Hope you do Twilight Princess and Majora's Mask in the future too!
Got this game for my 14th birthday back in 1998 haha. One of the most important games in my life. It really helped shape my perception of games in terms of their structure, tone, content, etc. Wonderful game ❤️

This game blew my mind when I played it. I was a bit late to the party, but ill never forget the hours I spent riding around Hyrule, fishing, getting lost in the Water Temple 😂. Still one of my all time favorites. How incredible would a remaster of this be? I'd buy a switch just for that no question.

The Switch version of OoT had input lag issues at launch, although it was supposed to be fixed somewhat in a patch. Just FYI there is a native PC version of OoT available that has super low input lag and also allows high frame rates and resolutions + widescreen (optionally). It's called Ship of Harkinian
My favourite gaming memory is my brother and I playing this the Christmas it was released and just losing all sense of time, the whole day passed by without us even realising. I loved it when Nintendo released the Master Quest version, it made a game I knew inside out feel fresh again. Just hearing the music & sound effects brings back so many memories! (I love the forest temple music)

I honestly think its the most important zelda game ever made and one of the most important games ever in the industry in general. Its difficult to overstate just how influential this game was for the 3d future we were all stepping into

I remember you debating whether to play OoT on the channel, I’m glad you decided to! It has a special place in my heart as well, as the game that made me start to learn English, with mom translating for me. Later she watched me play Twilight Princess in the living room as if it was a fantasy movie series. Fond memories all around!

This is the game that started my Zelda Journey, and one of the games that made me, not be a game dev, but got me interested into exploring the idea of having games as inspiration for my career, as I am a story board artist, so animation is also a major reason. but i have always found games to go hand in hand, and this game was and is one of those special ones. I was like hah, she thinks she can get into the castle before the bridge raises. You actually did it and utterly surprised me. Maybe in my first playthroughs I've done it but forgot all about it. Eventually though I became convinced a certain direct route was the fastest way and it only got me to the edge of the bridge as it raised. I must have done this a couple dozen times. Congrats on making it, that's amazing.

When I first played Ocarina of Time a couple years ago I was determined to play it unspoiled. When I got to the signs around 15:40, I convinced myself "oh, they sound like they expect me to have the sword already. This must be the wrong direction to go." I ended up two hours in, fully mapping the Lost Woods, before I busted out a spoiler and found where the stupid sword was.

I was born in 96. Ocarina of time was one of the first games I ever played on he N64. I was 4. Yes I wasn't that good. Then I got a ps2 and forgot all about this hidden gem of a game. Replayed it when I got older and beat it and it is so cool to see others enjoying this game as much as I did. Lots of memories lol thanks for playing this! Much better than I did 🤣

I play this game a lot, even do randomizer runs, this game was my first ever video game I beat, and it's one of my all time favorite Zelda games along with Majora's Mask, and Twilight Princess. fun fact: if you stun queen ghoma with a deku nut, and crouch stab her by using your shield without z targeting her, you can actually kill her in one cycle.
I remember playing oot because i anticipated its much as a kid. It really implanted the idea that making videgames is fun in my brain. Also my brother who programmed as well and explained stuff and since stuff he does it cool (3d modeling and some programmig) i thought this is the best thing ever. The jump from 2d to 3d and just seeing oot was mindbreaking. It really made me wanna create games. Donkey Kong Country 2 is also a game that played a big role in that deciscion :D
So glad you're playing OOT! My first gaming memory is of the NES Legend of Zelda, but I was too young with too short an attention span to do more than just wander around and maybe eventually get to the first dungeon. A similar thing happened for Link to the Past. But by the time OOT came out, I was old enough to focus and stick with the game for long enough to actually beat it. These long-running Nintendo franchises sure are something, with Zelda being my favorite. Having these games and characters that follow me literally throughout the entire 35 years of my life is really great. And, somehow, it doesn't work quite as well for me with other media franchises.
as a subjective human-being I can say officially that this game is perfect. because it was my fairly complete obsession for two weeks while I was newly done with basic training and starting my new life in the USAF. As someone who was already fairly obsessed with games, this one just came at the right time and is so thoroughly wonderful, and therefore, to my mind, was absolutely perfect.
Crazy how music takes you back, iust listening to the theme is full nostalgia of my childhood, bloody love this game... remember getting this for Christmas and being blown away by the change from 2D birds eye view to 3D... same with Mario 64 going 3D too. Great choice of game to play!

I’ve been dying for you to finally get around to this! Ocarina of Time is the game that truly cemented my love of video games. As a kid it felt absolutely endless! I really hope you decide to continue! Side note: I know the default button mapping can be a little odd since the N64 controller was so different from modern controllers. If you hold the right trigger, the face buttons become the C buttons, if that makes sense. I bought a Retro-bit Tribute 64 controller. It works with the original N64, Switch, and PC and has the same button layout as an N64 controller so it’s great for this sort of thing!
My favourite Zelda and favourite game of all time! Played it on N64 after release, then the great-looking 3DS version years later. The soundtrack still makes me emotional after all these years 😥

I played Ocarina of time for the very first time early this year and this game is an absolute gem, a real masterpiece of it's generation. while it certainly has aged, I feel like it really doesn't matter, it still is so much fun to play to this very day.

I just love everything about it: the characters, the colors, the places, the story, the lore, it all just settles into my brain so perfectly. I spent many, many hours in Hyrule as a kid. Ocarina of Time is one of my all-time favorites, and the music is the best of any game that I've ever played. I still regularly listen to covers of this game's soundtrack, and it's been over 20 years. The whole thing is an absolute masterpiece. Unfortunately my N64 overheats and the game starts glitching out and crashing when I try to play it these days. I need to take it apart and see what's wrong with it. The last time I tried to play was around 7 or 8 years ago.
I found your channel through Outer Wilds as I absolutely love that game and enjoy watching lets plays of it. I definitely love the way you do lets plays and I cant wait to keep watching more of your content in the future!

Makes me feel old reading the comments lol. Played OOT with my eldest son, N64 day of release, he went on to prefer Majora's Mask, but for me OOT (and Link To The Past) will always remain number one! Finally got around to watching this video after having it open in a tab since it came out! Absolutely lovely to see you play this, it was a huge childhood favourite of mine as well 😁 (Though it wasn't the game that made me want to go into the games industry -- that title goes to Vampire: the Masquerade - Bloodlines and the Silent Hill series!) Early 3D games like this are so much fun to look at from a 3D artist perspective, you really get a sense for what kind of corners had to be cut and what had to be prioritised!

This is the epitome of nostalgia for me. This game came out when I was in high school and my brother was in junior high and we would spend HOURS playing it together. I will gladly watch this playthrough. I don't know if you've said this somewhere before, but would you ever consider doing a Breath of the Wild playthrough on the channel? I know it's a long game and a lot to commit to. I just love watching people play it and your HK playthrough made you one of my fave UA-camrs.
OoT is my favorite game ToO! It also opened me up to the concept of game development and likely spurred interest to work with game engine adjacent technologies.
I never had the same feeling playing a videogame that i had when i entered Hyrule Field for the first time. I was in awe. I spent months exploring the game and i am forever grateful for escaping the world and living the most wonderful adventure when i needed the most.

as a subjective human-being I can say officially that this game is perfect. because it was my fairly complete obsession for two weeks while I was newly done with basic training and starting my new life in the USAF. As someone who was already fairly obsessed with games, this one just came at the right time and is so thoroughly wonderful, and therefore, to my mind, was absolutely perfect.
Crazy how music takes you back, iust listening to the theme is full nostalgia of my childhood, bloody love this game... remember getting this for Christmas and being blown away by the change from 2D birds eye view to 3D... same with Mario 64 going 3D too. Great choice of game to play!
The z targeting system was revolutionary at the time! Easy to forget how ahead of its time this was when it came out!!

*nostalgia intensifies* one of my favourite games! I didn't own a N64 when it first came out so I used to go over to my cousin's to play the game, good times. It's been so long since I last played it but I still remember all the tunes, the music is so good! I will enjoy this playthrough :)

I’ve been dying for you to finally get around to this! Ocarina of Time is the game that truly cemented my love of video games. As a kid it felt absolutely endless! I really hope you decide to continue!
Side note: I know the default button mapping can be a little odd since the N64 controller was so different from modern controllers. If you hold the right trigger, the face buttons become the C buttons, if that makes sense. I bought a Retro-bit Tribute 64 controller. It works with the original N64, Switch, and PC and has the same button layout as an N64 controller so it’s great for this sort of thing!
Ocarina is one of my favorite Zelda games. I have recently started trying some basic randomizers for it. I love it so much.
My favourite Zelda and favourite game of all time! Played it on N64 after release, then the great-looking 3DS version years later. The soundtrack still makes me emotional after all these years 😥

I played Ocarina of time for the very first time early this year and this game is an absolute gem, a real masterpiece of it's generation. while it certainly has aged, I feel like it really doesn't matter, it still is so much fun to play to this very day.

!!!!!!!!!! I love this game!!!!! This game is the only reason I play video games at *all* and is a huge inspiration to me in so many areas of my life. In particular, it's a huge influence on me as a musician and composer. I just love everything about it: the characters, the colors, the places, the story, the lore, it all just settles into my brain so perfectly. Someone said once that everyone has that one video game that just feels like home and that's what OoT is to me. I love this game so much. I can't wait to watch you play it
Oooh I've been looking forward to this! Everyone has a favourite Zelda game (mine's Wind Waker) and the pure joy that emanates from playing your favourite Zelda, whichever it may be, is universal. Even though I haven't played Ocarina of Time (it was before my time), I absolutely recognize and share your level of love and excitement. Different games, but the same feeling. Really what makes the series as a whole so special. All love.
I spent many, many hours in Hyrule as a kid. Ocarina of Time is one of my all-time favorites, and the music is the best of any game that I've ever played. I still regularly listen to covers of this game's soundtrack, and it's been over 20 years. The whole thing is an absolute masterpiece.
Unfortunately my N64 overheats and the game starts glitching out and crashing when I try to play it these days. I need to take it apart and see what's wrong with it. The last time I tried to play was around 7 or 8 years ago.

Makes me feel old reading the comments lol. Played OOT with my eldest son, N64 day of release, he went on to prefer Majora's Mask, but for me OOT (and Link To The Past) will always remain number one! Finally got around to watching this video after having it open in a tab since it came out! Absolutely lovely to see you play this, it was a huge childhood favourite of mine as well 😁 (Though it wasn't the game that made me want to go into the games industry -- that title goes to Vampire: the Masquerade - Bloodlines and the Silent Hill series!)
Early 3D games like this are so much fun to look at from a 3D artist perspective, you really get a sense for what kind of corners had to be cut and what had to be prioritised!

This is the epitome of nostalgia for me. This game came out when I was in high school and my brother was in junior high and we would spend HOURS playing it together. I will gladly watch this playthrough. I don't know if you've said this somewhere before, but would you ever consider doing a Breath of the Wild playthrough on the channel? I know it's a long game and a lot to commit to. I just love watching people play it and your HK playthrough made you one of my fave UA-camrs.

I actually just finished Ocarina of Time for the first time a few months ago! SUCH a good game.
I never had the same feeling playing a videogame that i had when i entered Hyrule Field for the first time. I was in awe. I spent months exploring the game and i am forever grateful for escaping the world and living the most wonderful adventure when i needed the most.
Lol that first step into hurtle field as a kid back in the day was incredible, it was like you got to see the gaming landscape change right infront of you
