Agree strongly with the comment saying that it's cruel to have exotic breeds of birds. Feed them, fight against habitat destruction, admire them, rehab them, and providing a sanctuary are the best ways to let birds be birds. Or any species for that matter. The Bronx Zoo, and others like it are perfect examples of acceptable safe places to see birds and tons of animals. San Diego Wildlife Safari and zoo is another sterling example of a place to explore. If you must have a cockatiel or cockatoo, for example, make sure that you are going to live as long as they will. If not, have someone lined up to continue caring for the bird. Remember that birds grieve and will need lots of loving understanding as they pick their feathers out as they mourn. Please think long and hard before taking on any exotic species.
I agree with this, partially. I believe that we shouldn’t continue to take the birds from their habitats, and continue to basically farm birds from the wild, BUT… The birds that are bred in captivity, whether be from wild birds, or not, they are bred INTO captivity, and with the generations that have gone by with the birds, causes an issue with the species, because it removes the wild part of them, meaning that they won’t be as oriented to hunt for themselves or gather for themselves because they have been bred to not do so, and to rely on humans. So half and half with this statement.
To add on to this, it’s cruel to take them from their homes in the wild, but when they are bred for captivity, it’s not cruel, it’s in fact quite the opposite.
Great video, thank you. Feel I should mention that the flag you have for the Kea bird of New Zealand is actually the Australian flag. The NZ flag is similar but has only 4 stars with red inside white representing the Southern Cross and no Federation Star... Our Kiwi cousins get a little touchy about this common error...
In my sci-fi book series The Godsend Epic, I do feature the New Zealand Kea as a character's pet, and I even feature some kea in some of my illustrations for the books. A blue-and-yellow macaw, a great grey owl, a peacock, and a raven are also character pets in said series and I just saw this video today. Who knew?
These exotic birds were never meant to be domesticated. The best place for birds is either the wild or a Caring sanctuary. Just because u can doesn't mean you should! Its cruel to keep them isolated.
7:54 The black, red and yellow flag is the German flag! The region is called the Guianas and is composed of French Guiana, an overseas department of France, and the two countries of Guyana and Suriname.
Narrator claims that peafowl require lots of care, but in reality the biggest problem with them is how easily they go feral and thrive so well at it that they become an overpopulated menace and a PR nightmare for city councils, because they are menacing vermin but very beautiful ones and the citizens they don't terrorize fall in love with them but don't want to bother rehoming them.
As a long time cockatoo owner, if there was a safe way to reintroduce my dear bird into the wild, I would. Birds should not be kept as pets. If you really want a bird, get one from a rescue, not a breeder.
Do your homework before making videos. You can NOT own a Kea, as they are endangered. You have to get a very stringent license to own one,, but a regular person cannot.
I saw the gangster bird Vinny should have found a way to throw Jersey in there there was an opportunity you know during the black palm cockatoo segment
very disappointed they said indian peafowls are endangered, and they said we can keep near threatened species, also he keeps giving us false information like the australian king parrot, they partially live in netherlands only abit of them, and australia, he called yellow-collared macaw a golden collared macaw, HE SAID A KEEL BILLED TOUCAN IS THE LOUDEST BIRD BUT WHITE BELLBIRDS ARE, HE SHOWED A WOOD DUCK IN MANDARIN DUCK, golden conure is not a real conure species name, bro really said we can keep kea aka an endangered species, and then soon we all would buy it and make it extinct in the wild which is worse, he didn't mention papuan new guinea also has palm cockatoo's, he literally acted like palm cockatoo's drum for fun but when they do that, that means it is their territory, and why keep sun conure if everyone won't breed them all, we can make a conservation centre for it and keep the sulphur-breasted parakeet, jandaya parakeet and golden capped parakeet as they are least concern, look at the scarlet macaw (proceeds to show an image of green winged). He spelled Pesquet's parrot wrong, naw I am done finally.
EXOTIC ANIMALS ARE NOT MEANT TO BE PETS. PERIOD! Just because you can doesn’t mean you should! By selfishly domesticating them and taking them from their natural habitat is the epitome of egocentric selfishness. No different than stealing a child and raising it as your own.
It is none of your business what other people call pets, or keep in their houses. Captive kept, and BRED is likely the only chance a lot of the beasties have. In the long run, you bleeding hearts are part of the problem.
Don't even visit a video like this if you think that. For some it is true but others were raised in captivity they wouldn't survive if they were released. It is also nothing like stealing a child.
When raised in captivity they know nothing of the wild. Beside, All animals that we keep, exotic or not where once domesticated from the wild so please think before you speak.
Kea(and that how you it not kia) are illegal to own and even if they were legal to why would you want to there about 7000 or lower left and were you trying to piss people of when you used the Australian flag but it saying it was the New Zealand's flag.
If you love animals, you'd leave them alone. All birds suffer in captivity. What's wrong with people? So selfish and disgusting to suggest owning these birds as pets.
So ur saying that owning any bird at all is selfish? When they are born and raised by people they know nothing of the wild and it is much different then taking one that was born in the wild from its home.
So lovely 🥰🌹 awesome 💖😎 sharing 💞💝🤗

U can’t keep ether of them, I think he messed up on that clip.
Its owl not ow el
You can't take a bird of prey as a pet. You need to take falconry liasons until you can take permission am a master falconar
Just saying you got the New Zealand flag wrong.
Most of these birds are illegal without a permit or flat out illegal which makes sense
