  • Long range shooting tips / how I got started shooting 20m
    In this video I will start for the first time, shooting long distances. I decided to go from exclusively 10m to 20m while testing out Gong Chi .65 bands and revisiting 9.5m steel ammo. I am hoping this video will help those get started shooting from 20m and beyond.
    where to find Gong Chi bands

    You could try switching to a butterfly style to get a flatter trajectory.
    Advantages:
    - Faster ammo
    - Less draw weight
    - More fun (personally)
    Disadvantages:
    - More inconsistent at first
    - Higher chance of hitting yourself (in the beginning)
    Overall, if you wanna try it, get a thick glove, preferrably a slingshot glove with steel inlays. Worst that can happen at that point is a "Cheek-Kiss", but those usually are not horrible.
    Good luck shooting and improving.

    Maybe, you can put a bell behind the bulls eye. Keep the cardboard in front of the bell, to keep the ball from bouncing out of the box when it hits the bell. I'm just starting out, and I'm going at it with a thinking mind, too, and not just firing away. I'll probably create some targets that will spin, or make sounds, when they're hit, just to take away some of the boredom you're talking about. Keep shooting!

    • @ATOMark
      @ATOMark  2 роки тому

      The paper target is just to get you on target and understand your reference point on your frame. Once you have that established you can shoot anything you want but there is no better tool than paper targets to troubleshoot or learn where your shots are going when you miss.

    Got the GZK Titanium G-Shot TTF, Catch box and some goodies this morning. The G-Shot is very comfy to hold and fun to shoot, the pinch grip is really well made with G-10 patch, I like it better than the Hammer Pro Mini, it is easy to check the level I just could not put it down, it is light but well balanced and accurate. The catch box was also amazing ! the material is neither nor tarp or canvas like stuff, it is stretchy Spandex, inside hangs two screens of Spandex to stop the ammos and muffle the noise , frame is built of supper strong 1/2 in PVC tubing. Oh cool looks like they changed the box. The old one i have is made out of american football jersey material and it is super tuff. The 2 I bought before were absolute junk and fell apart. I even had shots go right through. I took a look at the frame you were talking about. Looks great. I have never held a frame like that before. I have to stand at the side of my house to shoot that far. I am just worried some Karen will cause a problem. I think I will be switching back to 9.5 for the time being. Good shooting! I tend to shoot at around 40 feet, at cans. I miss a good bit, but overall, it's pretty good. Weird thing, though -- if I'm shooting steel, I never hit anything. I do the exact same thing with clay, though, and hit a lot. I have no idea why the steel misses... it'd make sense if it was going under the target, since it's heavier, but it goes OVER the target, which makes no sense according to the laws of physics. Strange, strange.

    I'm only a couple minutes into your video. couldn't help but notice how long you're holding your shot before release. this will significantly slow the speed of your of your projectile. try shooting in one fluid motion without pause. this will also result in a straighter trajectory

    • @ATOMark
      @ATOMark  3 роки тому

      For some reason it is worse on camera. You hear it in person but it is not nearly as loud as on camera makes it seem. It is definately worse in winter when the crops are down and the leaves have fallen.

    I've watched some videos and it says u need to hold the base of the sling at 45⁰ where you hold it vertically. Is there a difference?

    • @ATOMark
      @ATOMark  2 роки тому +1

      It really depends on the frame. I have some slingshots with slanted tips that I still shoot square. I get better results like that.

    Not sure your thoughts on fiber optic aiming references but I have a GZK frame that has a multi-prong fiber optic and you can set each prong for 10m increments. It’s pretty handy for distance shooting. I’m not 100% on the physics, but it also works really well for different sized ammo at 10m, e.g. clay for top fiber optic, 9.5mm steel for second and 11 mm for third.

      I have similar style sights the clips of the beagle I shoot. I really like those. Because they are on the fork tips. The gzk sights require me to move my anchor point.

      Ya I know but 8mm ammo is like covid toilet paper.... can't find it anywhere. So I figured it out with 9.5mm. For those hunting long shots with light ammo isnt a good choice either. I am just a target shooter so for me it is fine.
