thank you for making day 178! i was happy to cover it(: i loved the lonely, dead atmosphere, and i was so freaked out going down that municipal building's staircase lol. glad you enjoyed the video!
@sorenisimo Can you make a video about why we love survival Games so much from your own perspective. This is my viewpoint of what a survival horror game is it's an adventure game A mystery game a survival game A resource management game Exploring game A walking simulator game Puzzle game they all fit well into survival horror.
And thus all that remains of analog TV now; even the low-power stations were forced off the air by July 13, 2021, and the full-power stations were forced off the air by June 12, 2009.
I wonder if FNaF (at least, the original trilogy) counts as interface horror because of it's emphasis on the dated camera tech being your only consistent method of interacting with the world.
you know, i feel pretty dumb for forgetting FNaF in this discussion lol. not only do i think it counts, but it's one of the most popular horror games of all time!
I must say I have never happened upon this analogue horror before. But this video peeked my interest by how intuitive it looks. There's nothing scarier than an older version of Windows after all
Such a chill vid bro. Inspiring my creativeness. I think genres are always just getting started as long as there’s one person out there plotting. Introducing new modalities is finding treasure that hasn’t been dug. What interests me most about the genre is that it fully leans into it’s limited nature and pushes the envelope. Finding how much with less and less.
well said-less is almost always more! i think the deceptive simplicity of analog horror (and found footage more broadly) accounts for a lot of the appeal. almost feels like a campfire story thanks for the comment, happy to be of inspiration to ya(:
Really fascinating concept, and intriguing games. As someone who has so far lived more of their life in the 20th century than the 21st, and remembering older games that looked so pixellated unironically, talking about the temporal distance back to analog technology really breaks my brain...
Will you look into other kinds of horror that revolves around an interface? The job horror, but one where you operate a complex machine under pressure- for got the name of the game, but there is one where you try to escape the bunker by drilling out of it and whole game is about operating the jury-rigged "Payday Drill". And well... I wanna hear your take on Ymes
7:20 Ah yes, the ol "IT WAS ALL A DREAMMMMM" surprise reveal in a video game narrative. Something about that trope happening in video games as opposed to other media is really infuriating in how it invalidates all the time you put into playing the game, and cuts back on it's replay value. 😬😬😬
Great Video. The idea that interface horror speaks to the act of playing game themselves is really interesting , especially your idea of intrusion. I had never thought of this as a sub genre, and now i think its impossible to separate interface from video game horror in general lol
thanks for the comment! i'd love to find some horror games that actively distort their UI to play up the horror. off the top of my head, the only example of a game messing with its UI is like, when asgore nukes the mercy button in undertale lol
@@sorbino_ There's IMSCARED and A Dark Place which messes with your PC's UI which, the first time I played, made me want to go outside and appreciate the nature.
Well done and very interesting video! I'm glad I was recommended this vid and I'm pretty sure it will be recommended to more people soon. Anyways, can't wait to watch your other ones!
I honestly hadn’t noticed that you were so small until I was almost done with the video. I expected this to have several hundred thousand views and I am surprised it doesn’t. Fantastic work!
This was an absolute banger of a video. It's the first of yours I've watched since you popped up on my recommended tab this morning. I was boggled to see that you're under 1k subs. The quality of this video was amazing, the script engaging and interesting, your editing polished. You also have a very soothing voice with good audio quality. Great job overall 👏👏👏
Excellent analysis of the genre as a whole, and the format of the video is just amazing. Despite what the numbers say, your easily on par with someone like BlameItOnJorge. Can't believe I've only just seen you pop on my recommended!
wow, thank you!! it's so surreal reading that my work could inspire someone lol. my only advice - and i know this is cliche but it's also legit - is to have fun with it! good luck on your video essays(:
@@sorbino_ Thank you! Much like yours I’m gonna be analyzing horror, specifically why we’re scared of what we’re scared of! Thanks for the advice friend, writing analysis is fun as hell and I hope to have my first out at the end of the year!
Unbeknownst to me, I have been outlining the gameplay and story for a game in this genre for a month now. Amazing find! I need to play day178 now since I haven’t experienced that one yet and I have plenty of time before starting development as my laptop crashes with all game engines (sucks to have sucky hardware lmao)
7:33 Yeahhhhhh cause there definitely wouldn't be a toxicology report done on the other driver or your character during all of this. Pretty sure the first responders will notice you're drunk as fuck on whisky and the other driver clearly wasn't even if you move a damn bottle. XD
Im the developer of day178, thank you so much for talking about my game. Awesome video btw ✨✨✨

Love the aesthetics

I absolutely love the atmosphere in day178! This game is gorgeous and looks beyond well done. You did an amazing job man good shit
Looks like a great game bro, awesome job. 👍🏻
"A blizzard of VHS static" is a damn good way of describing TV snow.

you're too underrated. the quality of these videos are insane. thanks for entertaining me for 30 minutes, keep doing you.
Fears to Fathom is an analog horror type game based of slightly changed real stories
I must say I have never happened upon this analogue horror before. But this video peeked my interest by how intuitive it looks. There's nothing scarier than an older version of Windows after all
i still have nightmares about windows vista
My phone glitched while watching this and sent me back to my home screen. Freaked me out lol

I think I found the true genre of my dream game. Interface Horror/unfiction.
Only halfway through, but loving the video! 10/10 will rewatch!
really funny coming back to this and see you talk abour iron lung AND the titanic lol
i subscribe to "The Simpsons" school of writing

this video is amazing, your work deserves way more attention! and you reminded me of the vast of night!! amazing film :)
i've been waiting for someone to mention the vast of night! that was one of the things that got the ball rolling on this video lol

I just got this video recommended by youtube, I'm so glad I clicked it! definitely looking forward to more of your content :)
Excellent video! You are definitely serving as an inspiration for me
Love to hear DKC3 music in this, a nice choice. This is definitely a game genre I'd like to try, thanks for giving me a place to start
really well made ! hope this goes viral ❤️

you should have more subscribers and views for the quality content you produce
Keep up that amazing vids!!
Amazing quality video, thank you again :)
Congrats on 1k bro
this comment was how i found out i hit 1k lmao
@@sorbino_ I was actually the thousandth subscriber I think, when I hit the sub button you were at 999
You Earned a subscriber. I'm a big fan of survival horror.
Good video, my friend! Keep going on like this.
Brothermanbro great work on vid! Keep it up, you deserve a lot more than 2k subs 🤝
You had another channel? this video remembers me a DnD channel y follow, amazing video BTW
That Re1remake safe room music hits hard
That scene from Dead Space 2 (You know the one)
Here before this channel blows up.
Nice.
This will explode, mark my words
The Chrono Trigger music was oddly appropriate
I hate you calling it a "20th century interface" because it is, but it's more specifically pre-90s.

How do You Turn Analog Horror Videos or VHS Footage into a 3D Games? If in Case The 3D Modellers and Programmers Need Anything
You didn't cite "Observervation" the epitome of Interface Horror.
in retrospect i should've-because i love that game-but at the time i didn't want to showcase 2 games from the same studio lol
doesn't this include Amanda the Adventurer, Chimpy Chippa's and Andy Apple Farm...?
i'll admit, i've never played those games. but it looks like you could probably make that argument!
Iron Lung was terrible to play but the vibe was great / thinking about it
:o
178 is so disappointing. ten minutes of tension and build-up just for nothing
yes. it is getting very stale
