HUGE stepping stone in graphics and physics although GT5 had fantastic graphics for the time and still looks pretty good. My main gripe with sport is that it’s huge focus on WEC style regulated racing and online multiplayer stripped the game down to almost a PC2 type deal. I know they added the campaign later on but the game still felt like more of a demo for GT7 than its own full fledged title. Like the lack of any tuning or aero parts made street cars borderline useless for a large portion of the game. GT built itself as a series on turning normal street cars into high performance race cars by racing and slowly upgrading your car. GT sport threw that away entirely and I feel like it split expectations for GT7. People who had experienced GT sport as their first GT game were probably expecting GT7 to have a heavy focus on real and modern race cars (hence why so many people are constantly wondering where *insert race car made past 2015* is). I think GT sport and the focus on online racing is probably a big reason why Gt7 is forced online and has kind of a lack of interesting single player content at the moment (there’s 4 endurance races that pay out when they could easily make a 30min and 1hr race for every track for multiple classes). Personally I think GT sport was great and I think GT7 has the best racing physics in any game and has GT sport to thank for that. However I don’t like the direction GT sport took the series. I still want more of a focus on road cars, “normal traffic”, and weird old concept cars like in GT4 and GT5. I’m still gonna look forward to every update that comes out for GT7 because I just love driving in that game but I still think about what GT7 could’ve been like if the series never took that hard shift to focus on online multiplayer and E sports.
While it’s disappointing the online features are gone, at least Polyphony and Sony care about game preservation and let us continue playing the single player campaign events. Ivory Tower and Ubisoft should take notes in regard to The Crew servers when it shuts down.
As if they care, if they cared you'd have been able to play offline from the start (with actual single player progression), not only after the online servers have been shutdown. All this time that I've been forced to play online to be able to save progress or buy new cars, and then they close the serves and "Oh by the way, you can play it offline now.", yeah great, thanks Polyphony, you really do care about the players, huh... I don't like my PS4 being connected all the time, not just to play certain games. The constant firmware updates and game updates coupled with how horribly throttled the download speeds are, i just can't be fucked with it. You don't touch that thing for a month and then there's enough updates to leave you waiting an hour or two before you can actually play anything, but you had to do it if you want to actually do anything on GTsport. And what exactly did it add to the game? Nothing. In fact, it took away from the game. The multiplayer focus ruined it. The multiplayer in GT5 was great, and it had a solid single player, that's the last good Gran Turismo in terms of single player.

Problem is, they didn't rescan most of the cars I liked. They went the Forza route with only the highest performance/latest models. I like GT for having the V6 and V8 models or having a model that's the commuter variant to be enhanced.
GT Sport is the game I didn't want, but needed. Thanks to this game, I joined a community that hosted weekend races and time trial challenges. We also shared advice among each other. The skills I have and the techniques I use now were all taught to me through that community using this game. The lack of a true campaign was disappointing, but I can look back on this game fondly as one of my most played games during my college years. Although I've quit online racing since and am now a solo player, here's a quick shout out the RRC, the Real Racing Community!
GT Sport was my first GT. Somehow, despite loving racing games and being on PS all my life, I was never exposed to the franchise. While I definitely understand all the complaints about the game, from a new fan’s perspective, GT Sport was actually an excellent game. I genuinely appreciated how much time and care was put into it. Rather than taking the Forza approach and just having more and more at the cost of quality, PD gave quality in a small number and gradually increased until GT7. Now GT7 stands out among racing games for its quality.
If you ask me, it’s lazy polyphony haven’t made an open world game yet. Forza will always have the upper hand purely because of the horizon games, why not compete and set foot in the open world genre of racing games?
@@deepluck3821 again...why would they make an open world game when they're a circuit racing "SIM" that focuses on tracks all around the world and have done for the past 27 years
If Polyphony can just drop a patch to make the game playable offline, as in you're able to play the single player events and save progress, and buy new cars, then it stands to reason that such should've been an option from the fucking start. So why wasn't it? I'm annoyed that the servers are gone, but I'm more pissed that it never had to be online only to begin with and Polyphony were essentially lying and screwing players who didn't always play online. This is just another data point to add to my theory that online multiplayer has ruined gaming.

@joell037 from what I remember for GT5, PD just didn't try that hard no real work in to the car designs... a lot of the cars were the same, the interior ⚫️ no detail... now being able to trade cars was dope and some customization was dope but all in all not all that and 6 just how can I say this tried too hard... GT4 was a clean game all around, GT Sport being beautiful and challenging as it was there was a sweet balance and maybe the fact that the game was honestly an equivalent to an ep! Yeah I was impressed for sure
Hi all 1st question can you play Grand Turismo sport on playstation 5 And finally can you play Grand Turismo sport offline mode to play career mode without requiring Internet connection? Many thanks
If they do bring GT7 to pc... i am going to lose my mind in happiness I got my first DD wheel late last year, and this would be so frickin incredible, I HOPE they dont still require the GT specific wheels and it'll work with any Fanatec wheel.
I hope they don't because that would mean the human resources - which are currently overloaded, I think - would be split. IMO, not a good outcome for the console brigade, but would make the game more popular at the expense of the very stakeholders/origjnal console players. Ironic that the many PC elitists who bagged the game as arcadey would flock to it. But of course, they'd then rationalise it by saying that any PC version would allow for proper development into a 'proper' simulation game. FMD, the deathstar scum.
I think the new car models, graphics, and physics are incredibly important and make GT7 what it is. However shifting focus towards E sports is a pure negative. It’s why GT7 is online only and it’s why there’s still a lack of single player content. We could have a rich career mode with rotating daily and weekly events on top of a set campaign where you collect and upgrade cars to enter better paying and higher speed races including a variety of endurance races which have been in every GT game except 7. Instead we have 4 endurance races that pay out sufficiently (we could easily have a 30min and 1hr race for every track across multiple classes) and an online mode that is constantly being complained about because creating an effective penalty system is really difficult (I’m sure it genuinely is really hard to create an effective penalty system but that wouldn’t matter as much in a single player focused game). I really think the next entry needs to be split. Have a dedicated single player experience for GT8 and maybe they can make GT sport 2 and have it be the online E sports game. The company would need to expand to handle that because the E sports game would need to get updated with current GT and LM cars and such. I really think this would be the best solution though.
@Lamborghini-ml9mo Forza. Microsoft has completely botched than franchise. As someone who's hated Gran Turismo since Forza 1 launched on the OG Xbox. Shame on Microsoft
i've made a mistake, i bought the PS5, PSVR1, a Logitech G923 and GT7 thinking it would work with PSVR1, can anyone confirm if GT Sport works (and worth it), otherwise the PSVR1 is useless for me.
All this showed me is that there's a way to make this happen and every other company just hasn't done it and that makes me even angrier about the games that have already been shut down. 😠
GT7 is GTS with simulation mode. GTS wasn’t supposed to be the next game, before GT6 came out Kaz said that GT7 was going to have the same physics engine as GT6 among other things. Sometime between then and when GTS got announced they clearly had a change of direction. GTS had the closed beta in early 2016 and was supposed to release later that year then it got delayed until then end of the next year when we got the full beta and the release finally. It always felt like a prologue cause it is, that’s why it’s not called GT7. I assume Sony and the FIA deal had a lot to do with GTS being how it was. PD probably focused solely on rushing, finishing, and then polishing the Sport Mode to get into the e-sports side of things timely for Sony/FIA people. I’m not saying that’s bad, it’s just how I think it went down. They could rush and get a version of Sport Mode working and spend the next 5 years working on what GT7 was really supposed to be. Which is what they did. If you read this far, we love you Theo. Spread positivity! Awesome to see the Most Wanted M3 making progress! Keep pushing the boundaries
Didn't they refer to the quality of the car models in GT Sport as "Super Premium"? It was definitely a necessary change...and then there's Forza still using models from their first game
I hated it, it was the first "mainstream(!)" GT game that did not include a proper career mode. And PS4 was the only console without an exclusive GT game (with a career mode) for its generation.
RIP GT Sport, it was good, but I wish they will go back to a GT5 way later on. Even though I love racing sims, GT8 should go back to more of an "arcadey" feel.

Even with the servers having none of it sometime it was still alot of fun and last night was the goodbye to this game and for me was a bit sad. however i did manage to move my wrx gr4 liverary over to gt7. that was my first car i brought with my own credits and was pretty sad driving it one last time. but hats off for pd and sony for keeping the game going and still can play it just in a single player state and no livery but that completly fine with me. so question is will gt7 suffer the same fate as sport when 8 eventually comes out only time will tell but till then thank you sport for everything and hopefullu 7 will go for a long time to come.
Rip gt sport my first and fav racing game
GT sport was better than GT7, there I said it and it feels so good.
The GT community is such a great community!
Not really. The online had a broken penalty system, and had toxic lobby chats.
Dude doesn't take a breath.
Ah GT used to be my favorite track racing game back in the PS1 era ever since ps2 came out I've forever been a NFS fan.
I remember i think it was the first gt game to give you a free car on your birthday
GT5 was the first to do this.
I'm still gonna play it to teach myself how to drive properly
I view GT Sport as GT7 Prologue.
Very cool video black panthaa
after what Polyphony did with GT7 it's hard to believe that they would do such a pro-gamer move with GT Sport.
maybe that's precisely why they did? That franchise doesn't need more negative press.
now I know why my stuff is not in there 😭
Does the Base disc still work??? I want the VR mode to still function as well, unlike EVE VALKYRIE
Yes it still works in VR just got done playing it. No more buying cars though or watching replays or making liveries.
It's a shame that the crew 1 didn't get same kind of treatment.
I have uncontrollable acidic diarrhea
😢😢😢
OMG TOXIC HAZARDOUS DIAHRREA
Good
@@whitecloak9724 u want some?
@@TittlesFB I want some too
I would have hopped on GT sport to play online matches for the final time but thanks to school I missed out on that.
Rip gt sport online what a blast and the community is strong for it ❤
This game only dropped in 2017. It's scary that a game's online lifespan is decreasing year by year...
7 years is a long time
The game where a R34 was 61k,now its 350k. Goodbye Sport
@BattleBro360 oh yeah,my bad. Its 399k in used cars I think
Problem is, they didn't rescan most of the cars I liked. They went the Forza route with only the highest performance/latest models. I like GT for having the V6 and V8 models or having a model that's the commuter variant to be enhanced.
I got this game on the same day it ended please tell me what to do
Do you guys know if there were any short of Noble 14 legend for this game?
GT Sport is the game I didn't want, but needed. Thanks to this game, I joined a community that hosted weekend races and time trial challenges. We also shared advice among each other. The skills I have and the techniques I use now were all taught to me through that community using this game. The lack of a true campaign was disappointing, but I can look back on this game fondly as one of my most played games during my college years. Although I've quit online racing since and am now a solo player, here's a quick shout out the RRC, the Real Racing Community!
It's not gone. It's stolen from the library!
We cannot download the game.😢
GT Sport was my first GT. Somehow, despite loving racing games and being on PS all my life, I was never exposed to the franchise. While I definitely understand all the complaints about the game, from a new fan’s perspective, GT Sport was actually an excellent game. I genuinely appreciated how much time and care was put into it. Rather than taking the Forza approach and just having more and more at the cost of quality, PD gave quality in a small number and gradually increased until GT7. Now GT7 stands out among racing games for its quality.
Are there any cars in this game where you have to play multiplayer to unlock specific cars?
No, as far as I remember from playing it.
holy im first
6:20 :(
bangin video love the drifsts at the end, we'll miss gt sport
this game reminds me a little bit of gt3 vibes where polyphony rushed game after gt2's success and the launch of PS2
Damn now I will not be able to collect platinum trophy in this
Still waiting for an open world gran turismo game
Not gonna happen when it's a multinational game.
Open world Gran Turismo would basically be Test Drive Unlimited with a simcade handling model.
Why? Its about track racing, not open world driving crap.
If you ask me, it’s lazy polyphony haven’t made an open world game yet. Forza will always have the upper hand purely because of the horizon games, why not compete and set foot in the open world genre of racing games?
@@deepluck3821 again...why would they make an open world game when they're a circuit racing "SIM" that focuses on tracks all around the world and have done for the past 27 years
I’m still on it
The 8 dislikes are from Ubisoft side 😂😏
Rip GT Sport Rest In Peace
If Polyphony can just drop a patch to make the game playable offline, as in you're able to play the single player events and save progress, and buy new cars, then it stands to reason that such should've been an option from the fucking start. So why wasn't it?
I'm annoyed that the servers are gone, but I'm more pissed that it never had to be online only to begin with and Polyphony were essentially lying and screwing players who didn't always play online. This is just another data point to add to my theory that online multiplayer has ruined gaming.
Started on GT1 skipped GT2 fell in love with GT3, GT4 was dope AF! GT5 & GT6 Glad i missed out🤦🏾♂️! Now GT Sport was the one GT game that brought me back! RIP GT Sport❤
Whyd you skip 5 and 6, if ya dont mind me asking. I have both and am enjoying them so far. Granted, i never got my hands on anything before that, so idk what im missing out on. I just heard that 4 is the best, apparently.
Yeah I was impressed for sure
my friend has gt sport it was an awesome game hope it does not get removed
Its already been delisted, as far as i can tell. Luckily there's still discs available for any who are interested.
The Crew2 needs this type of patching,Along with Motorfest! We buy games to own and keep The basic game 🎯😮🎉😅
There is a mistake in the museum part about when the titanic sank.
I use my wheel and it simulates it perfectly even though my wheel only turns 90degrees
i still play GT sport, its diff then gt 7 but its still good game
Hi all
1st question can you play Grand Turismo sport on playstation 5
And finally can you play Grand Turismo sport offline mode to play career mode without requiring Internet connection?
Many thanks
Gran turismo sport was such a big deal for gran turismo fans,it was irronicaly better than GT7,but its sad that they are shutting down the game
This should be required for any single player content in a always online game
If they do bring GT7 to pc... i am going to lose my mind in happiness
I got my first DD wheel late last year, and this would be so frickin incredible, I HOPE they dont still require the GT specific wheels and it'll work with any Fanatec wheel.
they might. the creator even said he is considering a pc version of GT7
We'll get it some day through emulation.
Hi if I buy a second hand copy of GT Sport would it still work on PS4 and let me play the game and win and buy cars?
I'm pretty sure yes.
Although I love GT7 I wish they used the same lounge music from Sport, I enjoyed it honestly.
Gran tourismo car list with forzas physics, car sounds and nfs customization would be the ultimate racing game
Forza's car list with GT physics would be so much better imo. If you mean Horizon that is, idk what all is in Motorsport.
Thing is forza does not have as good sounds as gt anymore at least not when you campare between gt7 and fm 23
9:08
Hopefully. even they bring gran Turismo sport with no online Function into pc Then I will also be ecstatic
Still has it but online is not available
Asseto corsa porters gonna be eatin good tonight
It sucks that the Livery editor is gone....no more yellow Evo for me
Currently running pcx2 gt4 with g29 wheel. Should i feel optimistic about gt7 coming to pc? Mix feelings
i cannot believe gt sport it's gonna to disappear forever no turnin' back I'm very sad abt this bad news 😢❤
Not gone if you already had it you can still play single player mode.
RIP GT Sport server ✝️🕊️
Still looks better than a 2023 game that was released and claims to be built from the ground up
I think so too
@Lamborghini-ml9mo Forza. Microsoft has completely botched than franchise. As someone who's hated Gran Turismo since Forza 1 launched on the OG Xbox. Shame on Microsoft
i've made a mistake, i bought the PS5, PSVR1, a Logitech G923 and GT7 thinking it would work with PSVR1, can anyone confirm if GT Sport works (and worth it), otherwise the PSVR1 is useless for me.
my very first GT game, rip.
Man they should allow private server hostings
Damn, I've had this game for about a year and now the online is dying.
best drag races
And let's hope GT8 is harder again. I could easily get gold licenses there but not in GT5 or GT4.
Didn't they refer to the quality of the car models in GT Sport as "Super Premium"? It was definitely a necessary change...and then there's Forza still using models from their first game
Am not surprised they did it with the crew 1and now with GT Sport so what's next ?
I hated it, it was the first "mainstream(!)" GT game that did not include a proper career mode. And PS4 was the only console without an exclusive GT game (with a career mode) for its generation.
RIP 😢 The best Racing game ever created
RIP GT Sport, it was good, but I wish they will go back to a GT5 way later on. Even though I love racing sims, GT8 should go back to more of an "arcadey" feel.
Its a shame, but maybe helos gt7 with its gaminglobbies finally getting better matchmaking and better connectivity. Only the future will tell
