Thanks for the review. I just picked one up for maintenance use industrially. The run time and upper end lumens are just unheard of. The UI is really simple.
That's very interesting. Please let me know how it works out for you. I'm going out to film part 2 of the review this weekend. That dial back and forth just can't be beat :)
Thanks. I hope to finally film part 3 this year. I lost my window of opportunity last year due to an unusually long burn season and lots of bad luck with weather.
After purchasing mine because they stopped making batteries for it(hl35). What a headlamp. Used it working as paramedic. It never faltered. Best headlamp. Then I tried to get new batteries for it... So I bought the best. Only to read at the end of the manual that to replace LED bulb you just replace the headlamp. They don't advertise this lamp as throwaway... I'm very disappointed with these questionable practices...
It mounts directly to industrial MSA safety helmets. We do confined space entry into large 20,000 gallon plus silos in food processing industry. Other times I need north of 1000 lumen lights to punch through ambient lighting conditions to diagnose machinery faults. So far other than getting used to an extra pound up there it’s done all I could ask for a headlamp.
Just purchased this for waterfowl hunting. Finding a spot, setting up blinds and decoys often takes place in pitch black and over large fields/bodies of water.
@@L5-SAR sounds good👍😊 is it heavy to wear on your head with a beanie, I will use it for hiking in the woods, and want a lamp which gives a broad beam of light. Cheers from me in Norway
And again you did a very very great job sir on reviewing every flashlight/headlamp. Totally great review, but if i may suggest you can purchase a GoPro7/8 model to do the recording compared this iPhone (not sure which model) which are really not supporting your review. Apart from that tons of respect on every details you put on this headlamp review, ordering mine now.
I've recording reviews with both Go Pro (8/9/10) and the iPhone. In fact, I have an entire video on the channel devoted to night recording with the Go Pro 10. It is nowhere close to the iPhone (I use a 12 Pro MAX) as you can compare the Go Pro 10 night footage to the HM65R-T cold-weather test - many of the same shots in the same location.
@@L5-SAR omg even iphone 12 pro max cant do the justice that’s surprising. Yeah just saw your video on go pro 10 indeed it still cant do the justice. Anyway still a great reviewe videos, keep it up sir.
@@SynsterGates666 Part 2 will likely be filmed with the 12 Pro MAX. Maybe part 3, but that's the first one I will likely film with the 13 Pro. That's going to be a 6 to 6 1/2 hour expedition, so weather and other conditions have to line up for a good review. Thank you.
Hi. Love your vids. I can’t seem to find your part three to the Fenix FP30r where you dig into the run times. Can you help me find it please? Thank you and keep up the great work. Steve
I'm a slacker - I have not filmed it yet. I'm hoping to pick it up this fall/winter and it will likely be a six-hour land-nav activity at the LBJ Grasslands. Had a lot of trouble with rain there last season - wish we had some now :). Sorry, I'll try to make it happen this year.
Thanks for replying. How long does it hold the 1800 lumens for? I’m deep in the dark woods and that setting would be ideal if it could come close to what is advertised. Sorry for the delayed response. I couldn’t find you again. Thanks again. Appreciate your expertise
@@stefanosidoli5615 There is a burn-down chart at Fenixlighting.com. The 1800 LM should be held approximately for 30-40 min and then it sawtooths up and down until about 6 hours. Then, it burns down steadily to zero at about 8 hours. That's what I wanted to test, but in cold weather. I'm in the deep dark wilderness as well. I've found that switching back and forth between 400 and 1800 seems to work great for 3+ hours, but I've never been out longer than 4 with it so far. How long do you expect to be out?
I would not recommend wearing it on your head, although it might work with a thick watch cap (I've never tried that). I have mine mounted on a lightweight bump helmet and have been wearing it that way for nearly a year. Thank you.
Awesome review and I appreciate the comparison to the HM65 series. I have the HM65R and have been thinking of getting the HP30R V2.0, but just can't get past the weight/bulk of it for likely not being that much better than the HM65R that has served me well for some time. For everyday practical around-the-house which do you think you'd grab most often? Thanks again!
It will blow the HM65R away at the top end, but do you really need it? That's why I said it would likely be overkill in the beginning unless you have a solid use case for it. For what you mentioned - around and near the house - stay away from the HP 30.R V2. You already have a really good headlamp for that. If you're looking for an upgrade for night hiking or basic trail use, then the HM65R-T would. serve you well.
@@L5-SAR Yeah that is my general thought as the HM65R is an excellent device in performance, build quality, comfortable, etc. Guess there will always be that 'what if' though, but a costly what if in this case. Thnx!

Wow. With the battery life too. Just wow. I’m about to invest in this for night fishing
I've never done night fishing - should give it a try. Have you considered blue lights?
Jesus this light just might be the pinnacle of all headlamps. That is very impressive
There are headlamps that put out more lumens, but in terms of overall performance and variety in the field, this is still my #1 headlamp.
Congratulations on your purchase, it is a bit heavy but it is powerful and has a lot of autonomy, it is certainly ideal for your SAR.

For sure. Thank you!
