    I believe the HP30R v2 is the best product offered by Fenix as of today. This headlamp was thoughtfully designed to have both decent spot and flood features, a great user interface, a comfortable headband and best of all, is powered by two 21700 batteries for excellent runtimes!
    For those complaining about excess weight, there are plenty of lightweight 18650 headlamps out there already.
    What's not out there are double, 21700 headlamps.
    For the rest of us, who prefer long runtimes with a nicely balanced headlamp, this headlamp rules them all, but is still short from perfect.
    I own the Acebeam H30 and love the pure flood of the beam, the long run time afforded by the 21700 battery, and also love the axillary UV and red lights. But I want is even a longer run time and more throw. The HP30R gives that to us.
    Adding two more axillary lights, a red and a 365 nm UV light, and a 1 lumen moonlight mode, would make the HP30R the most perfect headlamp I can imagine.
    I'll keep my fingers crossed that these features are implemented in version 3. Thanks for the excellent review!

      While I agree it'd be just about the perfect headlamp, I would also like to see the spot reflector changed to a 1/4-1/2 turn zoomable projector, allowing you to tailor the throw to your liking from extremely narrow to "basically a 3rd flood".
      Then add a photoreceptor on the front for auto-dimming in tight environments like caving, mining, building inspections, mechanics work (I can't think of any professional field that doesn't benefit from autodim to keep from blowing your own vision out).
      All said and done it'd be $300+ headlamp though with those changes.
      I'd still pay it.

      @@droolguyAgree, I own HP30R v2 and for me flood is not so wide as I'd like to have so zoomable projector will be perfect solution, and flood light amount is also not so big... but spot is OK, build quality , batt superb

    I own this headlamp along with numerous other headlamps by different high end manufacturers….. and this headlamp is the best out of the them all. Its amazing for runtimes and also the lumen output options are very well thought out. It is my go to headlamp anytime i am out on my wilderness excursions.

      @@mikko8574 long term is amazing. It still is my main go to headlamp. Period. My other manufacturered headlamps can not compete with this one… period. If i had to go out into the wilderness and had to be out for a week… i would be well taken care of light wise, by taking my Fenix HP30R V2.0. I would take either another set of the 21700 batteries or just bring a 30000 mah powerbank to recharge it and I would be well cared for. The weight distribution is very well balanced and has not caused any head fatigue at all. And I have been in a few trips with it already since its purchase. Its my favorite. I use this headlamp pared with my Thrunite TN40 and thats all i need for light.

    I just bought this headlamp on dec 6 23 and a little over a month of owning it the rotary switch broke and it no longer turns on and off. Emailed customer service about the issue and got no response at all. It’s been over a week. I feel like I should get a replacement light for free I’ll send the broken one back of coarse. But again have heard nothing back. It is a really nice light but I’ve had headlamps that were 70 dollars that lasted years and this one is 220 dollars and it only lasted a month. Just something to know if you’re thinking about ordering one.

    Excellent review. Very thankful that you just happened to have the two other alternatives i was considering buying to compare the fenix to. However I would like to know what is the material of the front LED housing unit? It looks plastic. Thank you.

      @Flashaholic_mining  Рік тому +1

      Check the video descripton. I measured 2900 Lumen for both spot and flood combined. I think 5 hours is a bit optimistic you will get like 3,5 hours out of the batteries if running on max all the time

    • @The_Unobtainium
      @The_Unobtainium Рік тому

      3.5 hoirs and 2900lm?!?!? How? Where are you going to take energy from? By looking at Cree XHP50 (spot light led in this headlamp) it consume almost 8.4 Watts (3 V @ 2800mA) to output 1328 lm (@ 25C junction temperature). It can draw more power for higher output but just this 8.4 W over 3.5hrs gives 29.4 Wh!!! Two best 21700 cells (5000mAh) give in total 34 Wh... That 29.4Wh is only for the middle l, spot light diode, not counting the other two, flood light diodes😂😂😂 So why all this bullshit saying it can go on full output of all 3 LEDs for 3.5hrs?!?! Where are you going to take the energy from, heh?

    • @droolguy
      @droolguy Рік тому

      @@The_Unobtainium The headlamp does not run full power forever, it thermally throttles down to slightly less brightness than the 3rd brightness mode (full on 3000 mode is only slightly less than 2,000 after throttling). So it's not always drawing maximum current, the amount it draws actually goes down as a factor of time. That is factored into the run time.
      I have one and can tell you if you only use it on the maximum setting when you do use it, but only use it for less than half an hour or so (before or only slightly after it starts to throttle), you will only get a couple hours out of it total.
