I had a base '74 Barracuda with a 318 and auto trans. Even though it had bucket seats, the shift lever was on the steering wheel, like the one in this video. I miss that car. It was a blast to drive. I wish I could find one like it right now.
I had a 73 Valiant sedan, gold on blk, that I bought from the original owner for $100.00. It had a broken torsion bar, and the elderly lady didn't want to fix it. This was in 2003. The car had 98k on it and was pretty much rust free, with only some surface rust under the hood and in the seams of the decklid. It had the 225, factory a/c, p/s, pb, auto, dual outside mirrors, deluxe interior package, AM radio, and 14 inch wheels. Everything worked! I put in 340 V8 bars, and fixed the choke. That was it. It still had the factory ECU for the electronic ignition on it! The car was wonderful and dependable after the fix. I sold the car after an accident in which I slid into a curb in the rain, and bent the subframe. I should've tried harder to find a K frame and fixed it.
I had a 73 340 with 3 speed on the floor, fold down back seat ( space duster). Fast, rusted and sounded great with the glass packs, and only $300 ! Black white stripes and black plaid interior, manuel steering, power brakes, best combo!
When I was 9, my aunt and uncle bought a new 1973 Gold Duster with TorqueFlite and the Slant Six. It was brown, bench seats, and had a quarter vinyl roof at the back. It may have had an AM radio, but no power steering or air. It practically ran forever, and was with them for over a decade. It was replaced with a mid-80s Fury or Gran Fury, derived from the Aspen/Volare platform. This car turned them off of Mopars, and to GM and Ford.
The Duster, considering that it was really nothing more than a hopped-up Valiant, wasn't really that bad of a car. I think that the most comparable car that competed against it would be the new-for-1973 fastback Hornet that AMC introduced. Lovely!
@4:00 WHAT??? Since when is Barracuda "a sportier version of Plymouth Valiant"? That was only the case in the first generation from 64-66, but all that ended in 67 when Barracuda was given its own body. Certainly was long gone by 1973.
Trying to give the slow selling barracuda some rub off from the duster valiant family...knowing the buying public had no idea it was b body midsize based.
I had to listen to it a couple of times, but I think that he said Plymouth value and is an easy mistake because the audio back then was horrendous and is difficult to make out what they are saying alot of the time
Well, cars used to rust around the headlight bezels -- I believe they were aluminum on the Duster. Cars from the 1950's and early 1960's had metal grills that were notorious for rusting (just look at the 1957 Fury used in the movie "Christine" -- then the comment makes sense).

Fold down the seat in your duster. Sleeps two adults. I love it. 🤣
It's no Nash, but it'll work!
LOL, the perfect car for high school.
Gotta go back in time
Thanks again for the upload.
My grandma bought a new ‘73 Gold Duster; 318/727 and that hand-crank sunroof.
Nice.

Thanks for posting that. I didn't get what they were talking about.

You have to keep in mind that 1973 was a transition period away from performance and into luxury for Detroit.

@@lovethesmellofracefuelinth7374 By Jove, I think you've got it! Now that I re-listen it sounds like 'value'. Good catch!
at :47 - is that a scene from the movie Duel? Ha, I know it isn't but it appears as though they are doing that as a tribute to the movie.
That duster looks like a mercury comet
Sexy duster...Modell. ...😚
All in one...
All in a duster😂
Crank that sunroof ! lol
Did he really say new rust proof grill, that has to be a joke.
orange70383 yeah I was thinking the same thing😉 as if rust was ever an issue on grilles.🧐 All the rust happened inside the trunk, rockers, doors etc.
Plastic

Mister G Trust me, when restoring a rusted classic car rust on or around the grille will be the least of your problems.
Classic styling, except for the idiotic rubber bumper guards mandated by the government.
Mopar
Porch bumpers.......ugly
