I've always liked the grille of the 1970-72 Valiant and Duster. It makes it stand out in the crowd. If you know cars, and you're old enough to remember these old cars, you would know what a 1972 Plymouth Valiant and Duster front nose looks like. :)
I know exactly what you're talking about, and I couldn't agree more with you!.i am a big mopar fan, and always have been.in general,i think seventies mopars were the best ever.i've owned many over the years.
I think even as popular as the Duster was, it was still underrated. Torsion Bar suspension is STILL better than any Coil Spring! If it weren't for the weight and sheer size needed, they would have been a much better option for smaller cars. I do find it humorous, that those were called "compact cars"!! But then, I remember the big cars being VERY big!
Best year for good features before smog control took a toll on performance. Had disc brakes, electronic ignition, torque-flyte trans, torsion bars, excellent handling.
Owning a Classic Mopar ends this Debate. SMART.. at least I hope these ladies owned them after being casted.. man, maybe college does smart you up. Maybe.
I've Pushed my 68 Dodge Dart to 110..ish.. until I ran out of road. But I'm good tires, good shocks, mostly stock 318, swap.. 340 exhaust manifolds and get this Carter BBD two barrel.. And plus and Stupid enough to push my Grandma Car.. she's a 270 model 4door I have two of them, cruising at 85+ is easy. Stay True Stay Mopar.
1971 was really the last year performance could be had. 1970 was the best. By 1972 the biggest engine available was the 340, and that was de-tuned to comply with smog regulations. Sad, the end of an era.
72 was the first year that horsepower was rated at Net Horsepower rather gross horsepower. The HP numbers dropped dramatically in 72 because net HP is a more realistic rating.

I'm afraid I've never owned or driven a Plymouth car, much less one of the 1970s. My favourites though are those from 1970 through 1972. :)
So do I. :)

Jason Carpp Very GOOD! Also you will never forget the VERY distinctive SOUND a MoPar makes when you START it up.
As a one time owner of a '69 Chrarger, This car is the only model after i loved. Front grille and round tali lights were perfect.
& the Challenger too I bet ?

Even 69's had some smog equipment, but it could be easily removed.
These gals were even hotter than they looked - real women, sexy, sensual, and smart.
Smart? Bet you none went to college...
College means your smart?
Hmmmm

Slightly lower horsepower for smog control - but better safety, and some performance features(electronic ignition).
Dig the stripes on the green Cuda from the thumbnail.
150 mph speedometer, what was the real top speed ? ? ?
Probably not. Speedometers are mostly for show not reality. Even if the car could reach that speed, it would not be able to stay on the road.

with the right highway gears I bet around 140 especially with some bolt ons headers, carb, manifold, heads
The Dust-pan....1972..RIP
Really
Dramatic drop in Horsepower in 72... o_0

joe roth na you could make the 72-74 models up to 70-71 performance with some elbow grease and time.
No more Hemi or 440 for the "Cuda" in 72'?

were body colored grilles, or blackout grilles available for cuda in 1973/74?
