Watched last night for first time and my mind was blown. I agree style over substance. Not sure if you like Japanese cinema but another film that makes use of lighting throughout is the Ballad of Narayama the original 1950s version I think you might like it.
the style IS the substance. Nobody looks at a Vincent Van Gogh painting and says there's no substance... or a Beethoven symphony and complained there should be lyrics to the music or there's no substance. Argento made visual sound inventions.
Heeyy finally watched it and I really enjoyed it :) very pretty love the primary colors. It got a few gasps out of me like the woman who jumped in the wire. Which confused me too lol. And i was thinking to myself the bat scene I wouldnt have killed the bat let it go outside! The blind man and the dog made me feel really sad :( I would have liked to see more of the witches more. I love the score in the begining but I found it to be obnoxious and gives an uneasy feeling as the movie went on which yes that's what it was intended to do and I must say job well done. It kept my intrest but I think it ended abruptly... I was suprised when i saw credits after she comes out of the school. I think it was well worth the $25 I spent for the blu ray though :)
Watched this last night. Honestly, this may surprise a lot of people, but i actually preferred the 2018 remake over the original. This one is all style over substance and it is definitely beautiful and haunting and dreamlike just not as good as a film/story IMO.
Watched for the first time recently and I just could not get into this movie. Fast forwarded through parts and watched the kills, which were all great. However i still havent been able to bring myself to watch anymore Argento films. Recomendations for the next of his that i watch that might just be the last?
The film is very scary. Even the doors and curtains in it are terrible. The forest in it is terrible! You're afraid of light, but the darkness after the movie seems safer. Cool movie!I do not expect a remake. Nothing good will come of it. Once again, I apologize for my "good" English.
I agree, if you want pretty colors and music, make a music video, if youre going to make a horror film however, put in pretty colors and music WITH a story.
Love this movie. As you day in the opening, great music and beautiful color.
Arguably the most beautiful looking & sounding horror movie ever made. Awesome film & great review Jason. Feel like watching it again now.
the only competition are other Argento movies. I think Inferno was his most beautiful movie. Maybe because he had Mario Bava on set as well.
100%!

Not looking forward to remake revision bs!
I watched Suspiria for the first time last night. This film was so boring and I almost fall asleep a few times during it.
stephen Kennedy Wow, you shamed yourself into boredom, apparently ;)
Rebecca Rinehart 😂😂😂😂
