The 2022-23 SWIO season, although a near-average season in terms of TCs, it was an active (in terms of ACE), and also the most damaging, and deadly season since the 2018-19 season. It got off to an early start with short-lived Ashley in September. However, the rest of the season proved itself extremely capable and record-breaking, with Darian and Freddy crossing from the AUST basin, with the latter now the longest-lived TC worldwide, and the deadliest and most damaging cyclone since Idai 2019. In addition, Fabien rounded off the season with a surprise record-breaking major cyclone in the off-season. Other notable cyclones included Dingani and Cheneso, with the latter affecting Madagascar nearly two weeks before Freddy...
