Let's just say that the storm of the year is basically Hurricane Dorian in terms of popularity, but for the storm of the year in strength, it's basically Halong or Hagibis. Edit: 11:43 and 13:42, thank me later
I’d say JUST Hagibis for strength Halong looks to be “only” 180 or 185 mph, in my opinion at least And generally in terms of the generally most notable storm, I’d go with Idai, broke multiple huge records for the entire Southern Hemisphere and killed >1,000

What I learned from all of this: the Philippines get A LOT of earthquakes; June is an unusually quiet month for tropical cyclones; the Arabian Sea can produce Category 5 tropical cyclones; and there are way, way, way more Category 4 and 5 storms throughout the world than I ever imagined. I just never heard about them since almost all of them happen way out at sea.

Typhoon Michael I doubt Dorian went anything over 190mph. That’s a little overestimated, especially the pressure. Don’t know where force thirteen got that from.
Typhoon Michael Thank you, I know what that is. But I must admit that it’s pretty inaccurate. If this was estimated by ADT alone then Dorian probably would have been 175mph, with a pressure of 915-918mb. Especially with the relatively warm/low cloud tops, being only slightly above-70degrees. Though, the symmetry of the eye, especially being a good sized one, would make up for that. Overall I don’t see anything, (satellite presentation wise) above 185mph.
