    :0 I finally managed to pull off a happy-bright-blue-sky without making it look wrong, or making the other colors look oversaturated.
    There's a reason why I don't do much happy scenes, and it's because I'm so very dependant on dark values to make my choice of colors work together.
    When going for bright and sunny, I usually just ended up making every color punchy and saturated, and things just won't work at alllll.
    But now, using photos of landscapes I myself have taken, I went with the palette that they offered, and simply added some happy boys in there.
    Music: Kolkian - Luminance

    Mike Chino - Calm and Harmony
    / mike-chino
    Time recorded: 3 hours ( the sketching alone took 50 min, btw)
    Programs used: Photoshop elements.10, quick time player

    It doesn't matter how many times I watch your videos, I still get just as inspired by them _every time_ !
    I'm still young, and still learning, but one day I want to be able to create art like this!
    It can go by so many days when I feel like "Meh... I don't feel like drawing at all... I know I should, so that I can get better, but I don't feel like it...", but then I just come across one of your videos and then instantly I just feel like taking out my drawing tablet and sitting down for hours on end just drawing, sketching and painting. ~
    Seriously, you've been inspiring me for over a year, and I cannot thank you enough!
    Without you I wouldn't have drawn nearly as much as I've done and wouldn't because of that have learned the things I've learnt while drawing!
    Thank you, thank you, thank you!

    11 minute speedpaints are usually a bit much for me, but I just couldn't take my eyes off of this video, the colors on that dragon are just perfect! Very well done

      Inspire Wolf Thank you! And I usually first have to check, wether the recorded footage is short enough for only one background song (4-6 minutes) which is usually best for 30 min- 1h 30min type recordings. When it starts going past the 2 hour mark, I'll have to get closer to 10 min videos, since I don't want the pace to be too frantic. Me going back and forth checking my reference, will look like epileptic flashes when at high speed if I'm doing it regularly enough. And then also, if the video goes through my entire art process from sketch to finishing color adjustments, I tend to be generous with the final time amount, since I know it's not like I've spemt a whole hour on just repetitive cleaning up edges and lines :'I

    I love it, it's so happy! It's weird to see that you make colorful artwork like this, usually you do darker or not so saturated artworks. This really popped on my screen :D Amazing

    sweet saint francis the way you handled the diffused light coming through the wings makes so much sense. I've always struggled trying to figure out how to draw light filtering through leaves or bird/dragon wings from above and??? Shoot man it never occured to me to use warm shadow colors? ?? ? Bless

      membrane = lots of blood vessels! Hold your hand against a lamp, and even the most dense areas will become a saturated reddish-orange. I haven't yet figured out how to convey the semi-transluscence of feathers, but sunlight in general should be at least yellow toned.

    Art like this makes me sad. Because of how beautiful it is and because I'll never get a chance to draw that good.

    • @Remarin
      @Remarin  6 років тому +4

      It makes me sad to hear that it makes you sad 😔 imagine if little old me 9 years ago thought "I'll never be as good as X" when my art looked like sta.sh/0mwvgi0uiv1
      Anyone can "get a chance to draw that good", art is not a lottery, it's not like "only the chosen ones will receive the gift". It's a skill you can learn and train just like anything else. You don't go up to someone who just made a cake and say "man I'll never be able to do the things you do"

    Who is your favourite artist or a artist you look up to?
    My favourites are Neytirix, you and Jazza

    • @Remarin
      @Remarin  7 років тому

      I wouldn't be able to really point out top favourites,, artists I look up to all have something I admire, that I can't really rank comparitavely. I love Roberto Ferri's work, because he draws with the old masters techniques (he's barely 40 y/old) I love Anthony Jones' monster designs, and shading-style. I love sacetcendre (on tumblr) way of drawing human faces. I love the pencil drawings from Alphonse Mucha. And I could go on :'I There isn't one artist that is my idol, but rather many different artists who I look up to for specific things, that I want to be able to do as well.

    I'm sitting here watching this. *Sighs* "Why can't I draw like that?!"

    • @Remarin
      @Remarin  6 років тому +2

      I'm a firm believer that you should instead watch this thinking "I *will* be able to draw like this" >:0!! The power of art is that everything is a learnable skill. Where do you think I would've been today if I sat watching stuff like ua-cam.com/video/IzoHhgrHrEg/v-deo.html with me 10 years ago, thinking "why can't I draw like that? instead of "I'm gonna draw stuff like that in the future". (Though if I look back on that video today all I can now think is "the rendering is really detailed, but the headshape looks quite awkward" x: )
      So there you have it, with patience and persistence you will improve your skills to the point where you'll be able to look back on this video and point out my flaws as well as my strengths :3

    there's one thing i don't understand...
    how do you have your lineart overlayed, and at one point you just start darwing over it, as if it never was a seperate layer...
    could someone explain that to me? ^^'

  • @Guardian-of-Energy
    @Guardian-of-Energy 7 років тому

    Hey, do you have your commissions open? Or are you just finishing up some old ones?

    • @Remarin
      @Remarin  7 років тому

      I'm still finishing up a waiting list of people owo" I experimented with a new commissioning system, that basically was a waiting list for names, which I go through in batches. I kept it open for like 1-2 months, but closed it because I realized how long it would take me to finish it at the pace I was going. That was August, and now I still have +40 people left >w>"" (People are also allowed to ask for multiple commissions, so even if I do one commission a day, I still will be working through that list till after New Years)
      I'm doing my best though! :'I the reason for the experiment, was that I wanted to give as many people as possible a chance, since limited commission lists usually fill up in one evening alone for me.

      Prokoru Prokoru I'm currently not in school, and I currently don't have a job other than doing these commissions (I'm doing a sabbatical year (=gap year) I'll apply for universities starting 2018) My current goal is to finish one commission every day, trying to imitate some kind of job-like routine. But I don't record every artwork I make, sometimes I'll make a video just because it's been a while since the last one,, other times, people request that I record the process of their commission :>
      To answer your question though, I draw every day,, or at least try to x:
