Seven Spires is an American metal quartet who enjoy drawing from across the spectrum of metal and beyond to tell their tales of demons, death, love, and the peculiarities of the human condition. The band’s sophomore album, “Emerald Seas," is a highly emotional, dark, and theatrical epic.
“Emerald Seas” is a theatrical concept album, and is the prequel to the story of their debut full-length “Solveig”. The album follows a lone sea captain on their quest for eternal life while being hunted by an ancient beast and struggling with loneliness, sacrifice, alcoholism, and the unexpected weight that comes with achieving one’s goals. Seven Spires’ signature blend of melancholic beauty and emotional brutality on “Emerald Seas” is the sonic manifestation of the silent emptiness that chills one's insides when staring across bleak, open waters.
The band explains the influences behind the album, “Musically, “Emerald Seas” is influenced by our usual mix of melodic and extreme metal favorites and Hans Zimmer worship. We immersed ourselves deeply in 19th Century Romantic music and art while writing this record, and I like to think some traits from that era are present as a result. It's highly emotional; sweet and melodic at times, and quite dark and brutal at others, especially when dealing with themes like losing one's fear of death.”
The band, as with their debut, collaborated with Sascha Paeth (Avantasia, Kamelot, Epica, etc), who mixed and mastered the album. Incidentally, Adrienne Cowan was handpicked by Paeth to front his new band, Sascha Paeth’s Masters of Ceremony and she is also one of the touring vocalists for the hugely popular Avantasia.
Seven Spires met while studying at the world renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston, so we need not spend much time going on about their musical capabilities, but needless to say, the band’s musicianship is in keeping with the metal tradition of tirelessly working to be the best at your craft. Singer Adrienne Cowan is a true talent, with vocals ranging from the beautiful to the demonic, while her bandmates Jack Kosto (guitar), Peter de Reyna (bass), and Chris Dovas (drums) weave intricate musical tales to accompany the lyrical tales presented here.
Seven Spires continue Frontiers' tradition of identifying and signing the most promising young talents to ensure that the future of hard rock and metal music is in good hands.

That voice, siren of the eventide. Adrienne is such an amazing singer.
Totally agree. I would say she is one of the best singers I have heard in the past decade and I have come across a lot of talented singers in different genres. I am not really a fan of Death Metal type of screaming or growling in songs to be honest and skip over 'Fearless' and 'Drowner of Worlds' but everything else on the new album I love and I feel Adrienne really shows off her vocals in 'Unmapped Darkness' and 'Silvery Moon' the most.
Writing about it makes me want to play the album again. lol
@@debbiegardiner8273 Both Fearless and Drowner of Worlds are my favorite songs on the album with Silvery Moon. I also really like Bury You and The trouble with eternal life. Though i can understand both songs are quite dark so it isn't for everyone, Adrienne sings that way to reflect emotions felt during that part of the story. She does master both clean and harsh vocals, plus i am no musician, but from what i heard so far, her piano playing is at virtuoso level; the girl has some genius key playing in her giving the music a truly sweet, melodic or tragic feel with some twist that gets you thinking how she can come up with those keys? She just left the school of music, so she's truly gifted i'd say.
@@catwizard545 I think she is just really passionate about the shakespearian/gothic themes and musical theater and really understands how to paint that sense of fancyness, adventure and oldschool romance. Her music really has that distinct unmistakable sound and perfectly captures what it needs to. Emerald seas really feels like some story out of pirates of the caribbean world, but written like a proper novel/drama. I LOVE how perfect it is, it's almost magical how easily she portrays the story scenes with music...
As a musician/singer/composer I wouldn't say she's some high virtuoso, but she definitely is very clever in composition and doesn't bloat her music with unnecessary show-off. Tasteful writing is a virtuosic skill, but so is diversity, I do hope she explores something different in the future. She's off to a great start and I'd hate to see her become a 1-trick pony

Only a handful songs in from this band and I’m constantly blown away how good they are! Adrienne Cowan - Disney princess to screaming demon and everything in between. Like a musical unicorn, ultra rare but they do exist 🦄🎶🎵

It's kinda not fair that I just got Delain's new CD at the same time that this album comes out after being hyped for weeks. Cuz I've listened to both today, love both, but Emerald Seas is the one I keep going back to. I guess I'm a sucker for albums that tell a story.

This is more a general complaint than a jab at Frontiers Music or Seven Spires, but it really sucks that content like this can’t be cross-posted on the artist’s channel. I had no idea this was being premiered, and I missed both of the other songs previously; and with all due respect I’m not interested in subscribing to Frontiers’ channel just to keep an eye on the one band that interests me. I’m trying to keep my feed lean specifically so I don’t miss the content I’m looking forward to. It might help if at least a short announcement video were posted on the artist’s channel with a link to the premiere video, a day or two in advance. Cheers.

Yeah they might gain some new fans being on this channel, but they might also lose some as the rest of the stuff here is mainly middle of the road or reanimated bands from the 80's/90's. Mine is that I am not subscribing to this channel to follow 1 band and be spammed by all the other stuff they upload here which I am most certainly not interested in. Also that bands should take care of their own business (which is what is it) for the most part. Clearly Seven Spires can't be arsed now they're contracted and neither can I. My goodness, I absolutely love this. So much pain and emotion. I especially love the musical parallel to "Succumb" during the chorus -> "I will bury you among the stars that litter the skies of my heart. Next to the moon that you placed in it's folds so lovingly, so long ago." = "And so I succumb to cinnamon sweat and rum". I can always expect both wonderful lyrics and composition from you, and once again this doesn't disappoint! Thank you!
