I said the same thing to myself when he said something about the shirt. One outstanding man. One of them people I would do anything I could do for them if they needed something. Just a great persons all the way around.
I smoked cigarettes for many many years. I was absolutely addicted. I could not quit on my own. I had to get the Chantix. I have not had a cigarette since 2009. Pipes are totally different. I can go for days w/o picking it up. That NEVER happened with cigarettes. With pipes, the only addiction is the hobby it's self. I like the ritual and routine of setting everything up, smoking the pipe then cleaning it.
RedBriar - I was lucky I guess, when I tried my first cigarette I threw up, and one of the things I hate in life is throwing up, so i never smoked another one. 👍👍👍
Same here with the chantix. I will say that I *do* get a nicotine buzz from a pipe, but, unless I have several pipes in a day I don't have any withdrawal from it. With cigarettes, and even the chantix, I had *horrible* withdrawal. Shaking, weak, throwing up. No fun.
I took a pouch of Skoal as a “virgin” at work when I was 17. Almost threw up in a customer’s grocery bag from the nicotine sickness. I quit smoking cigarettes in 2000. I had the strange benefit of being in a jam room that had a lot of second-hand smoke, so it was like an easy come down. Covid stress has led me back to the smoke again, it was triggered when watching The Hobbit, and Gandalf is cleaning his pipe at the end of the third film. Glad it’s not addictive, and I’m liking the cherry flavored Captain Black.
You have to be the most respectful, kind gentleman on UA-cam! You have the most calm, relaxing voice. I enjoy looking in my inbox and finding that you have uploaded a video. Keep on making these videos Muttnchop!
Sound advice. Among other symptoms I would mention headache, sweating and faster heart rate. Drinking a soda or a glass of orange juice usually takes care of it.
Addicted to collecting pipe, collecting tobacco and the whole art and ritual of it, but not addicted to Nicotine. Sounds about right lol. Not that i smoke that much that often.
Hi, I am From Puerto Rico, one of the best Islands in the Caribbean and we are a US Territory and every body is Welcome and you need a T shirt and shorts because of our Weather, Now, I enjoy your videos, how well you explain and dedicares your valious time with us, since I been seen your videos I learned more about pipe smoking and I enjoy more my blends and Smokes, God bless❤ you all
Pipe smoking saved my life, before I was a cig chain smoker, always neurotic and depressive After 10 years of pipe smoking I feel calm, grounded and always happy to be in the present moment of here and now I just feel sorry for those who do not smoke pipe
This video is just as good as you other videos. I smoke pipes, but even if I didn't , I would start pipe smoking after watching your videos. I learn a lot from your videos, thanks for information. And also, thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge without saying "this is the right way" or "no, you're doing it wrong". Good job, man. Keep it coming...
Muttnchop!!!!!!!!!! As president of the muttnchop fan club of course the t shirt is not a problem....the chop is one of the most respectful gentleman in the community.....great video I do appreciate the tips and as always...........long live the chop 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻🚨🚨🚨
I smoked cigarettes for about 10 years, finally quit then picked up chewing tobacco when I got into trade work. That's a 5 year habit now, so I'm no stranger to nicotine or addiction to it, but I can say pretty confidently it'd be hard to get hooked on pipes or cigars. I've quit chewing for 3 or 6 months at a time and, once the cravings are gone, I still have the tolerance (provided I smoke enough/strong enough tobacco) but its not a "lateral" move. I could smoke a bowl of Irish Flake and still have a weak craving for a dip right after, not because I "need" more nicotine, but because its a product engineered to form a habit. On the flipside I have relied on the pipe to help me quit chewing before. It doesn't 100% scratch the itch but the nicotine gets delivered and, if you can stick it out a few days the worst is over YMMV. Thanks Chris for your great videos, you are the ONLY UA-cam pipesmoker I subscribe to- you are kind, thoughtful and are dedicated to the hobby and to seeing it passed on. Long live the Chop indeed!
Rob Sexton - Thank you Rob, that's very kind of you to say. And you're right about the addiction part, I know people who have not smoked a cigarette in 10 years, but when they get stressed they say they get a craving for a cigarette, I guess the body remembers how to relieve stress even after 10 years. 👍👍👍
I'm glad that I saw this video today. It's funny that I felt exactly those symptoms with NightCap. I'm a new pipe smoker and bought it for the first time yesterday and, while the blend tastes amazing, I felt very dizzy. So I call it a night.
What helps me manage high nic blends is 1. Lower the amount of tobacco by smoking a smaller bowl or packing less. 2. Don't pack tightly. 3. Use a filter. 4. Slow down the frequency of your draw. 5. Lower the volume of your draw if necessary. So as you can tell, it's mainly about slower cadence and good technique.
Thanks for your video! When I started, I had many people concerned I would be addicted to nicotine. After a few years of smoking, I can say that it has not. I find a sugary drink does the best for me to counteract the effects of nicotine. Nicotine has gotten a bad wrap over the years due to "Big Tobacco's" additives. But in doing my research on it, I found that it has many of the same properties as caffeine and has helped lesson symptoms of Alzheimers.
The best treatment in a video for the nicotine issue. Short, precise and a lot of information. I do not know how many time do you spend making this so instructional videos. Thank you a lot for than, man. Best from Querétaro, Mexico.
I'm doing an experiment right now. I smoked a full bowl every night for two weeks. I've since put my pipe away till today and while I want to pack a bowl, I don't feel a 'need' to. I've come to the conclusion that when smoked correctly, it's nearly impossible to get addicted to pipes.
Tom Sawyer - Exactly, now imagine a cigarette smoker doing the same experiment. Then after the results of that experiment tell me there are not chemicals in cigarette's that enhance the addictive nature the posses. 😏😏😏
Now I have a craving for Beer Cheese and Pretzels and it's only 7:30 in the morning. Going to try Maltese Falcon tonight after dinner for the first time. Looking forward to that session. Smells incredible! Thanks for all you do Sir, have a blessed day!🇺🇸
Been a cigarette smoker for almost 20 years now and was kicking the habit with the use of a vaporizer and e-juice. It was working better than any other method I attempted (cold turkey, gum, pharmaceuticals, etc.), until my state banned the sale of e-liquid. It has gotten to the point where my doctor suggested I try DMT or psilocybin mushrooms to try and kick the cigarette habit, but I've never tried psychedelics or hallucinogens. I have read recent studies that suggest these psychedelics may break your cigarette habit, but I fear the "bad trip" aspect of using these substances. After stumbling upon your videos, I believe I will give pipe smoking a try before doing anything else too radical...
@@SaxoGrammatic Did shrooms, it was amazing - highly recommend if you're of the right mindset (don't go in being nervous of having a bad trip, as then you will have a bad trip), stopped using tobacco, but I still vape and have found websites that are able to ship to my state despite the ban.
@@desdenova1 Congrats on quitting. Did you ever try pipe smoking? My dad used pipes to try to quit cigarettes, and enjoyed them, but he said any type of tobacco would lead him back to cigarettes eventually. After 50 years of smoking, and about 30 years of trying to quit, he used vaping successfully just before it was banned. I did try psychedelics several years ago. It had a profound effect on my world view, but I'm happy to leave it in the past now.
Your videos are very interesting I'm 20 years old and started pipe smoking a year ago but I had put it down and just picked back up and it's very relaxing
I have a Dr Grabow royal Duke that is a very nice pipe I don't know much about the tobaccos but I've had a house blend called irish cream and I now have some Peterson irish whiskey
MC, one of life's gentlemen for sure ! I get the nic hit sometimes from cigars, though I loved them, since rediscovering the pipe I am slowly going off the cigars. soooo relaxing. God bless. Kieran
The concept of the video almost suggests that nicotine is some unwantend substance in pipe tobacco, which throws me off a little. Tobacco became used and popular first and foremost because of the drug content, not a single tobacco type or form excluded. And yes you can get addicted to every type, some are more dangerous in that regard, some less. If nicotine didn't matter, then we can smoke peppermint or hay grass :) It is like you would act that you drink whiskey for the taste but dislike alcohol, you just can't separate those two and the same goes for tobacco and nicotine. I don't mean to bash the video, it contains a lot of useful information, I just wanted to state some facts.
I am not a smoker, never have been. I occasionally smoke a pipe, but I have to avoid stronger tobaccos, which I regularly enjoy the smell and taste of, because the nicotine makes me nauseous. I actually would prefer pipe tobacco with zero nicotine. ;)
I didn't get that sense at all. I got the sense that he was explaining that what gets you addicted more than anything is the other additives in cigarettes.
Hello Muttnchop ! I am new in the pipe family and I have to thanks you ! You have a great UA-cam channel with great advices. Thanks and happy piping to everyone !
Hi thanks for the videos they are really helpful to me as a new pipe smoker. Just to say I stop smoking ciggies back in 2005, I use to rolled my own cigarettes, my wife is a cigarette smoker and I was getting the urge to take it up again, so this last month October 2021, I started to learn how to smoke a pipe. So i still have the delight of finding which varieties will be my go to blends. But your videos are a world of information to the new pipe smoker Thanks Michael
Amen to that, Ray Darville. Muttnchop is indeed a gentlemen of the first order. Thanks for another great video! I'm a relatively new pipe smoker (3 months), even though I'm not so 'new' myself (57 years) :-) Keep these videos coming Muttnchop, I'm sure I'm not the only one getting an education here!
Everyone's body and brain chemistry is different, and therefore everyone will react differently to drugs. Let's not kid ourselves, nicotine is drug. Additive-free tobacco is addictive, however the addictive potential is mild. For me, it's about half as addictive as coffee, but more addictive than alcohol. If I'm smoking just one bowl of pipe tobacco a day every day for a while, and then I stop for whatever reason, I get a headache and feel a bit tense for about half a day, and I keep thinking about smoking until this passes. But it passes easily enough. Further, I have a friend who smokes additive-free rolling tobacco, and he's completely hooked. My father's godfather was completely hooked on cigars. But you are right about additive-laced cigarettes. I tried smoking pre-made cigarettes and was scared off by how addictive they are. I used painkillers heavily for years after I hurt my back, and quitting was the hardest thing I have ever done. Yet, just from getting my feet wet, I am convinced that pre-made cigarettes are more addictive than opiates.
Petox20x I agree with your assessment on the addictive potential of cigarettes. I have been addicted since I was 13 and it didn't take long. I quit for five years and started back a year or so ago as if I had never stopped. I'm sticking to pipe now and having withdrawals. Also, lexipro is up there but without the psychological addiction, both worse than opiates, Xanax, and way worse than alcohol after about a year of steadily going to bed blasted.
The thing with rolling tobacco is that, when you inhale the smoke, the nicotine hits yout brain much faster and much harder than when you just let it in your mouth, and that makes it much more addictive too
Another great video, thanks! I've found that the blends that affect me the most are things like 1792 Flake (and some of the other Samuel Gawith blends), and Peterson's Irish Flake, and I've found that making sure they are dry (by letting them dry much longer that seems necessary) helps these a lot. My theory is that when there is any moisture in them I puff harder and faster to try to keep them lit - and these high nic blend need to be sipped!!! I think this was the case with the Gawith and Hoggarth Sweet Maple Twist that we smoked for Blend Club a few months back. I really liked that blend (I think I gave it the highest rating of the group) but it was because I would slice off a couple coins, rub them out, and let them sit an dry for several hours before loading my pipe. I found that blend to be quite enjoyable that way and I didn't get the nic hit others mentioned. So, if you have something that is a little higher in moisture content, and is known to be high in nicotine, give that a try as well.
Hello Mr. Muttnchop, I like your videos, I like your style and how you are a true gentleman, just the way pipe smokers should be. Thanks for this video, I actually had no idea that cigarette tobacco contains additives to make you more addicted, I think that's wrong. Love Nightcap, love pipes. Keep up the great work!
Jonathan Simpson - You're welcome my friend, and yes it is wrong, that's why the cigarette companies tried to appeal to young people teenagers, the sooner they get you hooked, it means a lifetime of addiction. 😖😖😖
smoking pipe for 2.5years. great videos and awesome source of informations for beginners like me. please keep posting even it is not important for you. dont say that this is already known by everyone:)
Love the channel so far. It has broadened my horizon on pipe smoking. very informative and you seem like a very well spoken person. Thank you for the great content !.
This explains some of my experiences ... Thanks for another Muttnchop video. Without you I'd only be smoking either ash or aromatic ash. Kudos from the holy land.
Thanks for the nice video. Muttnchop, The way you look with all that background setup (Tobacco tins, Pipes etc.) makes me wanna smoke pipe all day long :) Greeting from Kuwait. I visited Kentucky 3 times, If I had known you before, I would say Hi in person at least. I learned alot for you, thanks for your videos and keep the good work and the cozy background :)
PsychicKWT - you got it my friend, I was part of the first Gulf war that liberated your country, I hope things have gotten back to normal, I guess it should be after 25 years. 👍👍👍
I tend to smoke Nightcap and other full blends at night, after a heavy meal. I sort of stay on the couch or chair, and smoke a small bowl, slowly. I just purchased some Sam Gawith 1792 Flake and hear it’s pretty strong. Hopefully I’ll survive. Lol. Thanks so much for your channel. I really enjoy it. Cheers from rural Arkansas.
Muttnchop Piper Thanks for responding! I was just telling my fiancée “Muttonchop piper responded to my message!” She always sees me watching your stuff. You’re a bit of a celebrity in our home. 😀
Sam S. - thing is, I don’t feel like a celebrity, I don’t consider myself one either, I’m just a guy that has information about pipe smoking that I think everyone should know. I do appreciate your kind words my friend, my feeling is, you take the time to comment, I should take the time to answer. Thanks again. 👍👍👍
I love a good beer cheese with pretzels but im also a Kentucky boy. Just got my first pipe started with a churchwarden I'm loving it so far just trying to find a good blend of tobacco
Love your videos. I've only been smoking a pipe for a few weeks now and I am already hooked. I'm from Stanton Ky. Next county east of Winchester (Clark Co).
Yet another great video. .. Now I am wanting some beer cheese. woots. Totally agree about additives in cigarettes. ..which is why I roll my own with pure Virginia burly blends. Dark chocolate can really help on the dizzy headache feeling. Great video....thanks Chris.
Switching to pipe smoking (half a pack a day habit) and not knowing much about different blends I went to the local cigar/pipe shop for my 1st tins, picked up some Nightcap and Haunted Bookshop. All I can say is they both seem to hit *hard* on the nicotine, not unlike some of the times I've finished a Lucky Strike after being completely out for a few day's. Taste is amazing compared to cigs of course but I've learned my lesson tonight smoking a couple full bowls on an empty stomach. Thanks for the informative video, Subbed.
This is a fantastic video. I have recently started smoking pipes, and to be honest I was a bit concerned I would become addicted. I will say, the smooth mellow relaxation I get after smoking a bowl IS addicting, haha. I love that feeling
It's all about the ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate). For the lay person its brain food and has direct effects on your metabolism. Sugars and fats increase the ATP and it helps balance out the nicotine in your system. It doesn't actually make it go away as much as it brings back balance or homeostasis. I don't claim to be a medical expert by any means but I am dredging up my recollection of lectures from when I was in Paramedic school. If anyone has a better understanding by all means please correct me. As always, I truly enjoy each of your videos. Your variety of topics are very enjoyable. Ps. about the mutt chops I bet it's a historical reason that you sport them, and well I might add. I thing you would be surprised to see how many people would be interested in knowing why you have chosen to sport them. As a medic I keep the bushy mustache and chin beard.
As you said, high nicotine blends should be smoked only after a full meal. Another point to observe is bowl size. I love Burley/Kentucky/Perique blends, but wouldn't want to smoke something like MacBaren's HH Bold Kentucky in a pipe that lasts me more than an hour. Smaller pipes providing a, say, 40 min. smoke are the way to go with such blends. For many it may also be wise to refrain from drinking spirits parallel to smoking a heavy tobacco; instead one should keep oneself hydrated by choosing a non-alcoholic beverage or at least one that's low in alcohol, like beer or a light wine. Observing these points, I've never experienced any nicotine sickness so far.
great advice my friend only been smoking for 2 years and thought was doing it wrong started checking on stuff and things reviews he gives a good breakdown of the various blends strength and nicotine content wich put me on to baccys i can smoke so greatly helped with my choices also enjoy your vids great indepth advice cheers and thanks mate
I have been thinking about trying pipe tobacco for a while. I always associated tobacco with cigarettes. I remember my pap and dad smoking pipes when I was a kid and liking the smell. I finally decided to give it a try. Buying my first cob pipe this weekend and a couple ounces of various tobacco blends
Sounds good. I have a series of videos teaching you what you need to know. There are 3 in particular, they are all titled how to smoke your pipe using the breathe method. Before you start actually smoking, watch those 3 videos, if you don’t you will get tongue bite and throw the pipe away.
@@MuttnchopPiper I have had 3 bowls now. I ordered a starter kit from JM boswells and along with the tobacco they include picked up north woods. I have enjoyed them all so far. Still struggling with tasting the smoke. Thanks for all the videos and easy to follow playlists. I think this hobby may stick
I was recently smoking several cigars in a short space of time as I was having a few drinks and I started feeling really ill. I wasn't even drinking that much, and I started feeling ill - I ended up throwing up due to the nicotine sickness. Genuinely, this video I think is vital to new smokers of pipes and cigars.
Connor Savage - WOW, I bet you that really sucked having to go through that, and your right, every new pipe smoker needs to know this, so they know what it is. 👍👍👍
Thanks, Chris. Some interesting info. 1. I like having snack sized Milky Way bars while I puff as a way to refresh my pallete. So, glad to hear they help with nic-sic too. 2. I have found that while napping, a fan on your face helps the symptoms as well.
Thank you for the advice. I'm a new pipe smoker but I've occasionally smoked cigars for years and upon my first light I experienced the nicotine "buzz". I've felt it before with cigars but nothing to the extent of my first light using a pipe. I smoked Peterson's Old Dublin and I'd say I was 1/3 of the way through the bowl and it hit me. I knew to put the pipe down before I got sick, but I have to say it was a much more intense feeling than with the cigars I've smoked. I had just had dinner and so I can say that I wasn't expecting it. I later finished the bowl when the feeling passed and I was able to finish the bowl, granted I still had a little of the "buzz" but nothing compared to the initial light.
Gretings from Syberia, Russia. It was really nice to know about beer cheese (since I've never heard of it before, I will try to make it for sure) and some effects of heavy tobacco, which I felt recently while smoking Nightcap (I think I will need to try some more virginia blends. Unfortunately, it is not popular at all to smoke a pipe here and I've never seen a person with pipe, cigarettes only; but I often offer my friends to smoke a pipe and some of them like it, so, I suppose, the number of pipesmokers will grow in here. Thank you for the video and the information you put in it.
CMON BOSS - here in the states if you start doing something that is not popular, you are what we call a trend setter. Be a trend setter, if you're out and about smoke your pipe, if someone sees you smoking a pipe and ask you why do you smoke that thing, tell them it's the most relaxing thing I have ever done. They will be so curious that they will have to try it. 👍👍👍
Thank you, I will try it. Also, I'd like to ask, what is the best way to smoke a pipe outdoors? I mean, we often have windy weather (especially me, living near the river) so, I presume, to get a pipe lighter (and use a pipe cleaner to cover the tobacco inside the pipe, as you showed in one of the videos) is the better way to smoke outdoors, am I right?
CMON BOSS - I don't have a lot of experience with lighting a pipe outdoors, they do sell wind caps for pipes once you get it going. My gut tells me a glowing ember like a large twig that has an ember at the end. Sorry I can't be more helpful. 😏😏😏
Cmon, I'd suggest you to try out both Amphora Virginia and the Original Blend this quality tobacco is now produced by Mc Baren is widely distributed in Russian federation 50 gr pouch is around Rouble 300-400 depending where you buy it, Best Greets from Finland
I've never smoked in my life, but recently I started having interest in cigars and pipe smoking. But since I started I always feel the inside of my mouth burning. Is this the same as tongue bite? I also read something about nicotine burns...does anybody know something about this topic?
I've been watching a few of your videos and I'm interested in this hobby. But looking at pipes online their prices vary widely, and I don't want to over invest into one or smoke Chinese chemicals. You made a video on buying a new pipe, but that was more for people already smoking them. Could you maybe do a video for those wanting to start out? Websites you recommend and maybe a handful of pipes you think would be good for a beginner? Maybe tobacco as well.
I enjoy c&d burley Flake #1 and SG 1792 Flake a lot and they definitely require you to have good meals beforehand. Although I tend to get the munchies afterwards too..lol....But one thing to add is if you have a drink with your smoke too. I have more coffee and soda with the pipe more regularly and I think that helps too. Thanks for this video and what you do!!
Hello Sir! Have you ever had a beer-cheese soup? We have a pub here that brews several of their own beers, including a great porter, and they make a wonderful beer-cheese soup with it.
I feel if people start to get nicotine sick and have to keep setting the pipe down they should just power through it a few times and build the tolerance up to it. You are 100 percent correct and very educational on this for people but I personally just powered through and it stopped to where you can smoke the strongest blends morning or night.
This happened a couple of weeks ago, and some other times. The jitteryness, sweating, and nausea. Every time it was because I smoked my pipe too long. Last time, I think I was smoking for about an hour. Sometimes, just setting a time limit prevents the nicotine sickness. Mine is about 20 - 40 minutes, but I'm kind of a lightweight. Good videos, Muttnchop. Thanks.
Christopher Caples - I'm a nicotine lightweight as well, and I get what you're saying, I wonder if I smoke a nicotine heavy blend but put a time limit on smoking it if I can tolerate it. I'll give it a try, thanks for the cool idea my friend. 👍👍👍
Great info Muttnchop. i have never seen a video done on this subject. it answered alot of questions for me. Oh, I am going to have to try beer cheese. Take care Bro.
Hey Muttnchop!New pipe smoker here, i have heard that it is better for begginers to start with an english blend because Virginia burns hotter but the English ones are heavier. What do you suggest?
not a doctor but I believe the reason sugar is helpful for nicotine sickness is because nicotine causes your blood sugar to fall fairly quickly, and smoking after meals when your blood sugar is highest offsets that drop
Awesome video. I actually have a bit of a nicotine high right now lol. I was puffing a bit robustly on my corncob during my commute home from work. I find sugar definitely helps lessen the effects. I often have a glass of sweet iced tea or a craft beer when I smoke. The sugar does just as you stated and the cold beverage cleanses the palate and seems to help with tongue bite as well. Thank you for another great video.
I'm a cigarette smoker but I've been switching over to pipes lately to cut down. Normally I'd smoke a pack and a half a day of cigarettes but I've gotten myself down to a pack since I've started smoking pipes. A pack a day is still a lot but I hope to cut down more.
I had Petersons Irish Flake pre breakfast once, but couldn't finish it at all! I have tried HH-Old Dark fired before and thought it was strong but the Irish Flake is on another level. Your tobacco reviews are very nice, although I have never smoked any of them except Nightcap... Could you take Capstan(Blue), Full Virginia Flake or some Tabac Manil :) :) :) :) :) into consideration for a future review?
Doctor Maxi - yes, this years Blend club was an experiment to see how it would be received, it's seems to be a big hit, so next year I will be more careful and get some more input as to what club members want to include going forward. 👍👍👍
Depends on the brand... Some have typical preservatives found in food, as well as propylene glycol. Others may have very few additives. There are also casings such as sugar, molasses, etc. Aromatics of course will have some sorts of additives for flavorings, and depending on the price point, a vanilla aromatic could be flavored with actual Madagascar vanilla bean, or some sort of artificial flavor.
I smoke cigarettes, and have been looking for an alternative. However, I don't think I could smoke a pipe without inhaling. It's hard to repress that muscle memory. Would a filtered pipe make it more feasible for a cigarette smoker? I have a feeling the filter has a different purpose than it does in a cigarette.
Congrats for the great job you're doing. I start pipeing recently. Another day I've tried the Five Brothers which is 100% burley. wow...i realy could feel the nicotine. And also got a headacke... on the other hand I've heard this kind of tobacco is good to "clean" the pipe... mainly when you smoked aromatics on it. Maybe a video about this? best!
Domingos Urbano - Thank you my friend. I have never heard of using Burly to clear away the taste of aromatics, so I will have to research this information to find out if it's fact, or myth. 👍👍👍
I got really sick from Dunhill's Elizabethan Mixture the first time I smoked it, but now I can smoke it and not get any buzz at all. I really do think that if you get sick off of a blend once your body adjusts to it and you won't get sick again from it, but who knows I might be wrong
Wyocaster - No I don't think your wrong, just, each person is effected by nicotine differently, I love G. L. Pease Virginia Cream, but every time I smoke it I take a nic hit. 👍👍👍
Muttnchop Piper I've only really has this happen a couple times with pipes once was with Tinderbox Sherlock blend and the other with borkum riff cherry. Now I also use smokeless tobacco and get it occasionally and it is not pleasant. I've found a fresh lemon wedge kind of takes the edge off for me.
Muttnchop Piper it might just be me. I'm currently smoking my second bowl of nightcap and I got a little bit of a buzz the last time I did, I'm halfway through the bowl and I don't really feel any nicotine high as much as just a really relaxing effect.
Muttnchop Piper Yes it is! I'm fairly new to pipe smoking. I started out in earnest in January with aromatics to satisfy sugar cravings, but I've gotten into non aromatics and I can't get enough Latakia. Your channel has been a great help for me learning how to smoke a pipe. Just wanted to say thanks!
Muttnchop out of all pipe channels this is the best for me, all the time I learn something specially when I was new in pipe smoking and had absolutely nobody to tell me what to do and I was about to quit as pipe smoking not so popular in my country like cigarettes and electric smoking or Shisha of course (water pipe) Back to our subject I try eating something very salty and it works as it increase my blood pressure for quick recovery... My problem now that I have no variety in tobacco blends all I have here is erinmore and amphora then low quality captain black blends - so please do a vedio related to smoking same blend each and every single day how bad, good or normal that is?
Ahmad A-Kareem - I am pleased you enjoy my Chanel my friend. Can you not get tobacco sent to you through the mail, or are the import duties so high you can't afford it? 👍👍👍
Muttnchop Piper no I can afford it for sure but here in my country they put a huge amount of taxes on it once received also it may take long time to be received due to my country regulations, however I do enjoy erinmore mixture blend but would be much better ro try another, another thing to get a good quality pipe I need to get it online as well as smoking shops here not getting it due to high price
smoked cigarettes for about 2 years and i have been 1 pack a day smoker i tried every way out there to quit but failed each time. 1 month ago my lungs just couldnt take it anymore so i started chewing tobacco and i did teach my body to get nicotine from the mounth but then i realized that even after chewing tobacco i still had cravings for cigarettes. so i just got back to my old pipe and now its 10 days without any cigarette or even inhaling pipe smoke.
i always tend to get nicotine sickness more from cigars than pipes. just 1 cigar can make me start feeling light headed if i smoke it too fast but i can smoke almost 3 bowls before i get light headed
More important than the lack of additives, cigar and pipe tobacco nicotine takes much longer to get into the blood stream than that of cigarettes, because the smoke is not inhaled. The speed of the nicotine "hit" from cigarettes greatly increases the propensity for habit-formation. Also, pipes and cigars simply aren't nearly as quick and easy to smoke as cigarettes, so it's much harder to smoke them multiple times per day, every day.
Good helpfully video thank you .I smoke one or two pipefulls a day usually mid-day and evenings and I look forward to this ,as you would to a meal , I think we all like to try different tobaccos , like yourself I like to be aware of nicotine , but nicotine and a satisfying smoke tend to go hand in hand , however I have found myself a mild to medium straight va with plenty of taste . Don't get hooked on the strong ones . All the best.
I can smoke pure perique but I have to be careful with burley. Old Joe Krantz is the most nicotine I have found in a blend so far. I can't smoke it much when it's hot outside.
I don't get dizzy but it definitely makes me feel like I need to sit down and chill out. I do get jittery and light headed but not nausea. A glass of orange juice helps me if I need a pick me up.
Muttonchop: I have two short stemmed pipes that I like to put long stems on. Do you know if I can buy long stems, by themselves, for my Savinelli 6mm pipes? Thanks, Rob
Ok. This is a silly question and doesn't pertain to this video. But I've been trying to figure this out I have a savinelli 614 with the balsawood filter and the moisture trap. Regarding the filter placement, should the filter go down into the moisture trap? Or all the way up into the stem? Or somewhere in between? Or is it one of those, doesn't matter as long as it's in there somewhere?
Muttnchop Piper that's what I figured. But Italian, much like German, designs they have these specific things you must do . Must be 2 mm from end A and rotated anti-clockwise 14.8 degrees aligned with the the moons waning on the 3rd evening of the summer equinox. Otherwise it'll erupt in a fiery blaze 😂
Without doubt the most gentlemanly and respectful person on "youtube"... don't worry about your t-shirt mate !
Ray Darville - Thank you my friend, I appreciate that. 👍👍👍
agree
I said the same thing to myself when he said something about the shirt. One outstanding man. One of them people I would do anything I could do for them if they needed something. Just a great persons all the way around.
@@hillbillypiper1388 A great role model for every pipe smoker!
@@MuttnchopPiper How much pipe smoking would be enough to kill a human due to carbon monoxide poisoning?
I smoked cigarettes for many many years. I was absolutely addicted. I could not quit on my own. I had to get the Chantix. I have not had a cigarette since 2009. Pipes are totally different. I can go for days w/o picking it up. That NEVER happened with cigarettes. With pipes, the only addiction is the hobby it's self. I like the ritual and routine of setting everything up, smoking the pipe then cleaning it.
RedBriar - I was lucky I guess, when I tried my first cigarette I threw up, and one of the things I hate in life is throwing up, so i never smoked another one. 👍👍👍
RedBriar - Same here with Chantix, Plus I had to separate myself from any socialization for three weeks! it was horrible man
JD Reddish is
Same here with the chantix.
"Out of respect for us" You sir are a true gentleman. You are incredible
Bonapiper - Yep, you're right, I forgot those, thanks for he additions my friend. 👍👍👍
How does one prevent it, just slow and light easy smoking?
This is my favorite channel on this website. So wholesome and comfy
Addicted to collecting pipe, collecting tobacco and the whole art and ritual of it, but not addicted to Nicotine. Sounds about right lol. Not that i smoke that much that often.
Jason Tankard - Yep your right, that sounds about right. 👍👍👍

Pipe smoking saved my life, before I was a cig chain smoker, always neurotic and depressive
After 10 years of pipe smoking I feel calm, grounded and always happy to be in the present moment of here and now
I just feel sorry for those who do not smoke pipe
This video is just as good as you other videos. I smoke pipes, but even if I didn't , I would start pipe smoking after watching your videos. I learn a lot from your videos, thanks for information. And also, thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge without saying "this is the right way" or "no, you're doing it wrong". Good job, man. Keep it coming...

What helps me manage high nic blends is
Timothy Skaggs - Great information my friend, thanks for sharing with the club. 👍👍👍
Great video. Wish I saw this about 2 years ago when I smoked my first cigar. 😂
SwineofWar - Yeah, nicotine sickness is no joke. 😔😔😔
The best treatment in a video for the nicotine issue. Short, precise and a lot of information. I do not know how many time do you spend making this so instructional videos. Thank you a lot for than, man. Best from Querétaro, Mexico.
Sergio Olvera - it's my pleasure my friend, I enjoy making them. 👍👍👍
Thank you so much for the tip. I am new to pipe smoking and sometimes I get a little lightheaded. God bless you my friend. John.
Another excellent video there and very informative as always. Also nice tshirt and that beer cheese sounds very tasty :)
Valeria Mertzani - Thank you my friend. 👍👍👍
3 years later, how did it go?
@@SaxoGrammatic I did like the pipe tobaccos, the aromatics of some of the blends were great, but I had a similar experience in going back to cigs.
The Sugar does work. I've used that trick. Or drank a soda. Definitely eat before smoking period.
This video has helped me a lot. Im a new pipe smoker and after every session i always feel dizzy and didnt know why or what to do. Thank you!
Sebastian Eichler - I’m glad it helped, I hate nicotine sickness, I feel cruddy for several hours. 😖😖😖
Your videos are very interesting I'm 20 years old and started pipe smoking a year ago but I had put it down and just picked back up and it's very relaxing
Ben Young - it is at that my friend, very relaxing. 👍👍👍
I have a Dr Grabow royal Duke that is a very nice pipe I don't know much about the tobaccos but I've had a house blend called irish cream and I now have some Peterson irish whiskey
Great advice for both pipe and cigar.
MC, one of life's gentlemen for sure ! I get the nic hit sometimes from cigars, though I loved them, since rediscovering the pipe I am slowly going off the cigars. soooo relaxing. God bless. Kieran
kieran hurley - Thank you my friend. 👍👍👍
Top shelf Piper!
Bandicoot - Thank you my friend. 👍👍👍
*THE* top shelf piper!
Hello Muttnchop ! I am new in the pipe family and I have to thanks you ! You have a great UA-cam channel with great advices. Thanks and happy piping to everyone !
Mehdi-B Q - Welcome aboard my friend, and you're very welcome. 👍👍👍
OziFlyer - you're welcome my friend, I hope to make videos for you guys for many years to come. 👍👍👍
I hope so too, cobber. May you puff long and prosper! :)
Well, I'm addicted to Marlboro but not cigar. Coffee is really craving... damn
@@dee5298 Is it?
The thing with rolling tobacco is that, when you inhale the smoke, the nicotine hits yout brain much faster and much harder than when you just let it in your mouth, and that makes it much more addictive too
Very good info and advices, thank you Sir!
I like what you said at the starting of the video, it's really respectful and gentle. Also, I appreciate your advice, thanks.
Saad Mosallam - your welcome my friend, thank you for your kind words. 👍👍👍
Kyohan - great advice and info my friend, thanks for sharing your experience. 👍👍👍

Sam S. - I have to be prepared as well for heavy nicotine blends, and even then, I still get the sickness. 👍👍👍
In fact since the time I started on pipes, I never felt like smoking cigarettes. I have been a cigerette smoker for a very long time.
I love a good beer cheese with pretzels but im also a Kentucky boy. Just got my first pipe started with a churchwarden I'm loving it so far just trying to find a good blend of tobacco

Yet another great video. .. Now I am wanting some beer cheese. woots. Totally agree about additives in cigarettes. ..which is why I roll my own with pure Virginia burly blends. Dark chocolate can really help on the dizzy headache feeling. Great video....thanks Chris.
Michael Page Thanks for the information, beer cheese is the best. 👍👍👍
N / A - You bet my friend. 👍👍👍
Very informative! Another awesome video. Thank you! I get that light-headed and nauseous feeling with some cigars. I really hate it.
Andrew Droll - thanks for the added information, it's very interesting, I learn a lot from the comments you leave. 👍👍👍
Ian Cavon - Thank you for the added information my friend. 👍👍👍
It's really awesome getting to hear from a fellow bluegrass native. And I love going to Halls on the River.
I wished I had watched this video before I gone to get a cigar and decided to look cool at a coffee shop 🤣. Thanks for video.

Thank you for this video this has helped me alot.
RyokoX37 - I hate it, I hate it, I hate it. 😒😒😒
Thank you anyway, I will try to become a trend setter in here.😉
Cmon, I'd suggest you to try out both Amphora Virginia and the Original Blend this quality tobacco is now produced by Mc Baren is widely distributed in Russian federation 50 gr pouch is around Rouble 300-400 depending where you buy it, Best Greets from Finland
Great video - love the t-shirt and the beer cheese! Enjoy your week and happy smokes to you!
Very useful information! Thanks!

What is your opinion on packet Tobacco like for example “Drum”
Very helpful video! Greets from Crimea.

Thanks for your videos I really enjoy them
Jason Green - its my pleasure my friend. 👍👍👍
I feel if people start to get nicotine sick and have to keep setting the pipe down they should just power through it a few times and build the tolerance up to it. You are 100 percent correct and very educational on this for people but I personally just powered through and it stopped to where you can smoke the strongest blends morning or night.
Ben Giles - Sensible advice my friend, thanks for that. 👍👍👍
Valuable information. Thank you
This happened a couple of weeks ago, and some other times.
I live in northern middle TN. we are 5 minutes away from Franklin KY.
SPACE TRUCKER - Cool. 👍👍👍
Milan LeDuc - Cool, thanks for the information my friend. 👍👍👍
I'm a cigarette smoker but I've been switching over to pipes lately to cut down. Normally I'd smoke a pack and a half a day of cigarettes but I've gotten myself down to a pack since I've started smoking pipes. A pack a day is still a lot but I hope to cut down more.
Hello what about the Cavendish?
Thanks for taking that feedback, I love to see your channel grow! Doing good so far :)
Great video. As a new pipe smoker, what other chemicals or additives are in pipe tobacco?
Wyocaster - I get that every so often, I get so relaxed that I almost fall asleep, it's a great feeling isn't it. 👍👍
For me a couple of heavily buttered slices of bread and a tall glass of cold water helps a ton. That and having a lie down. Great video.
Matt C - great info my friend, thanks for sharing. 👍👍👍
Nicotine is fat soluble, so having a meal like buttered bread will definitely help to slow down the absorbtion of it.
smoked cigarettes for about 2 years and i have been 1 pack a day smoker i tried every way out there to quit but failed each time.
No light headedness at all? I usually get a little that lasts about 15-20 mins after I finish a bowl...
More important than the lack of additives, cigar and pipe tobacco nicotine takes much longer to get into the blood stream than that of cigarettes, because the smoke is not inhaled. The speed of the nicotine "hit" from cigarettes greatly increases the propensity for habit-formation. Also, pipes and cigars simply aren't nearly as quick and easy to smoke as cigarettes, so it's much harder to smoke them multiple times per day, every day.
ionz75 - Great info and insight my friend, thanks for sharing that. 👍👍👍
All the best.
victor101 - Great comment, thank you my friend. 👍👍👍
I can smoke pure perique but I have to be careful with burley. Old Joe Krantz is the most nicotine I have found in a blend so far. I can't smoke it much when it's hot outside.
Alswin2777 - Yep, that one gets to me as well. 😃😃😃
I don't get dizzy but it definitely makes me feel like I need to sit down and chill out. I do get jittery and light headed but not nausea. A glass of orange juice helps me if I need a pick me up.
same here
Muttonchop: I have two short stemmed pipes that I like to put long stems on. Do you know if I can buy long stems, by themselves, for my Savinelli 6mm pipes? Thanks, Rob
Rob Keeton - I'm not sure, contact Smokingpipes.com, they will be able to tell you better then I can. 👍👍👍
I had my first cigar when I was 18 back when that was the legal age. I had to lay on my couch for an hour because I got so sick.
Yeeaah you and me both lol. I even did that to myself a few months ago and I’m 34 lol
Just smoked my first bowl ever and was laid up on the couch for an hour afterward hahahahahaha
Hey Chris great informative video as always - question, do you use the balsa filters with your savinelli 122? Thank you
B. J. R. - yes, all the time. 👍👍👍😃
Do you ever chew or use snuff nasal snuff? Any particular tea or coffee you drink that goes will with certain tobaccos?
Any good brick and mortar stores in central Kentucky?
Grant Goodrich - Yes I did a video on one called Schwabs pipes and stuff, check it out, it's been around since the 70's. 👍👍👍
Ok. This is a silly question and doesn't pertain to this video.
But I've been trying to figure this out
I have a savinelli 614 with the balsawood filter and the moisture trap. Regarding the filter placement, should the filter go down into the moisture trap? Or all the way up into the stem? Or somewhere in between?
Or is it one of those, doesn't matter as long as it's in there somewhere?
Occams Sawzall - Doesn't matter as long as it's in there my friend. 👍👍👍
