I find it hilarious that Jim spend years pining after Pam, transferred branches because it hurt to be around her, gave up a corporate job, and a girlfriend for her, gave that wonderful speech to Dwight about her… and about 40 minutes into this dinner party he’s ready to abandon her with no regrets, that’s how awkward Michael and Jan are lol
@@NavsangeetSingh Scotts tots feels really overhyped. I'd heard of it before watching the show and assumed it was something like a Dunder Mifflin sponsored child beauty pageant or something and Michael would make himself look like a creep. Phyllis's wedding was the worst one IMO, I just wanted to punch Michael.
@@prateekm1995Angela and Jenna talk about how all the candles are going with the fire and all the red is to symbolize jan is the devil and that is hell and really push it and then she improved the fingers to make horns while saying the line and even her kitchen wear was red but we didn’t really get to see it bc many kitchen scenes were cut
“Jan you need therapy” The problem is she does go to therapy but her therapist is just as insane. Remember when Michael mentioned that she films them having sex to review it with her therapist?
He sold the fuck out of his performance, absolutely, and got the most laughs out of me, but I also think Jan's actress having to match the sheer comedic genius of Steve Carrell was the MVP this episode.
Many of the cast members say this is their favorite episode, they could hardly get through several scenes from laughing so hard. Also so many great quotes in this episode: "snip-snap-snip-snap!"
This was the first episode they filmed after the 2007 writers guild strike, so they were super excited to finally get to see each other again and really went for it.
The legendary episode. Was patiently waiting for this episode. The police recommending for Michael to go to some friends and no one but Dwight accepting was a bruh moment.
Oh yes! Three is a whole other dimension of what is going on here, in the fight between Angela and Dwight, and then using other people like Andy to make the other jealous and hurt them. 🤕😢
This episode taught me about telling a story through visuals. Anything related to Jan is red and anything related to Michael is blue. From the clothes to the red painting michael takes down to the blue neo sign he puts on its place
I hope Mickey sees this and if he hasn't already, he can make sure we have everyone along for Scott's Tots because we need to see the peak cringe episode of television of possibly all time with all of you
This episode is a masterpiece. It's so fun to watch Jan's descent into madness, cause she was pretty close to normal at the start of the show. I blame the therapist who told her to indulge in her self destructive tendencies and then decided it was appropriate to analyze her sex tapes with Michael. It honestly makes you wonder what he's telling her
Sad they seemed to miss one of the funniest lines in the entire series. "Strictly carnal, that's all you need to know" - Dwight, about his childhood babysitter
So excited to see everyone here for this episode! Fun side note - Angela was actually super pregnant while filming this and they had to get creative with hiding her belly under flowers, pillows, etc. I think they did a great job!!
This was arguably one of the most difficult episodes for the cast to film. Practically everyone kept breaking due to the humor of the episode (based on bloopers, it's amazing they got any good takes from showing off the plasma tv), plus it was the first episode filmed after a month's long writer's strike. Also, Angela Kinsey was very pregnant at the time, so they needed to work extra hard to hide it (such as carrying the giant bouquet of flowers).
We spent a full week studying this episode in my Screenwriting class at UT Austin. It’s one of the few completely perfect episodes of television ever written. It never, ever gets less funny, and 100% of the humor is based on characters’ relation to one another.
The video camera is a call back to Women’s Appreciation day episode where Michael says Jan records them having sex and then makes him watch it back so he can see how he can improve himself
It's here. Arguably my favorite episode of The Office to show people. It's so wrong, so raw, so right. "Oaky afterbirth" is literally how I've cheekily described every red wine I've tasted (among quite a few other things) ever since I saw this episode back in high school. And, to be fair, that's one of the LEAST funny moments of this episode. That's how fricken good/cringe/hilarious this episode is. Great job, Normies. I'm glad you all enjoyed it and made time for it. And props to the editor for squeezing so many scenes into the edit. You're the MVP. PS. Jim and Pam are literally me and my wife when we're with friends or in-laws who get into it heavily. Not quite at the Chris phase of blatantly saying they're uncomfortable and leaving, but getting there.
I don’t know if anyone else mentioned it but this episode is based on a play called “who’s afraid of Virginia Wolf” a play about this horrible dysfunctional relationship
Michael when he was venting to the girls: She likes to record when we do it and plays it back for her therapist Normies: Is that a camera😮😮 Never change my friends, never change💙

It's funny how the word "cringe" has been associated with this show when people see it for the first time now. Yet when the show was airing it was just down right funny. I still don't see the cringe of it all, it's just truly great situational comedy writing.
Fun fact: The actress playing Angela was pregnant during this episode so they cover her belly. If you look at each shot she's in, there's the stairs, the flowers, her purse on her lap, to hide the baby bump. I saw it in a behind the scenes special, pretty cool camera work!
With all the Inidan stuff here, I keep wanting to see The Normies reaction to the newest season of Star Wars Visions because there's an Indian episode that made me think of The Normies!🥰
What's really frustrating about Jan having two rooms is that the office Michael said she never uses has a desk chair that STILL HAS PLASTIC WRAP ON THE ARMS. She has literally never sat in it. And I agree with Mickey, I don't know that Michael said he and Pam dated, he lies sometimes but not like that. It seems more likely to me that Jan has decided Pam's a rival and so is fishing to see if they have a past Michael hasn't told her about. There are definitely toxic people who do that due to their own insecurities.
I remember back in 2018. I wasn’t a fan of this show but my friend was over and he put on the pilot and he told me wait until you get to dinner party and if you don’t love this show by that episode then you will fall in love w/ it and lo and behold he was right😂😂

That fact that this manages not to diminish the sweetness of their relationship is a testament to the writer’s abilities of cringe
I read this exact same comment on tv tropes- where you the one who wrote that episode’s recap?
One of the best episodes, a masterpiece of cringe.
It's extremely overrated. There's so many better episodes, this one was just.. awkward. And not in the funny way.

Jim (John Krasinski) probally had the hardest job in this episode. It’s all just dead face horror yet it was one of the funniest episodes.
