About 15 years ago I quit my 6 figure career and took some time off. I was "stuck" in a high pressure technical corporate environment and it was killing me. My wife recommended we change our lifestyle and we did. It was the best thing that ever happened to us. I took 6 months to de-stress, we went on a couple of vacations and when I got back I had several interesting and fun opportunties waiting for me. Life has a way of working things out when you just let it happen. Good for you... Keep evolving through your adventure. Complacency and stagnation for the almighty pay check is not a way to live your life. Thank you for sharing again. Nino....

12 years ago, I quit my high paying & high stress job. We sold our home in San Diego and moved to the desert where we began our adventure of homeschooling our children. We bought an RV and off-roading vehicles and created wonderful memories camping and exploring beaches, rivers, sand dunes and mountains. Then we had the opportunity to move to Japan and we’ve spent the last six years traveling when we could (Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Kaga, Kanazawa, Mt. Fuji, Okinawa, Taiwan, Guam, Hawaii, Singapore). Our family has been blessed with some amazing adventures, but they might not have ever happened if we never took that scary leap of faith. Good for you for following your own North Star! 🌟

I have watched this video few months ago but I decided to watch again for inspiration. Few weeks ago, I was made redundant after 13 years and my last day will be in September. I have the choice to find another position in the company or take the money. I decided to take the money and start my own project. I wasn't happy anymore but as I have RA it was security, insurance, a routine, etc. One friend make me realise that I was sick and calling sick many time because I had flare-up due to stress. She make me realise that my job was making me sick but I was staying there because I had the security in case I was sick (flare-up)... this is a wheel, a circle or a dog trying to catch his tall. When the redundancy was announced I decided to take it! I'm scared, worried, lost but I'm not panicking, I'm calmed. Your videos helped me to see things in a different way, I'm maybe 51 but I'm still learning every day. I have dreams and hopes. I'm learning at my age to believe in myself. All this change start by watching different videos yours included and slowly decluttering, who brought me to managing my money and paying my debts. Friday, I just started a digital detox. Simply thank you ❤

I find real comfort watching your videos, especially this one because I have been thinking a lot about switching my path even before the pandemic. I was fortunate that my family supported me in achieving my dream of pursuing fashion design after college and I really worked hard and did my best bc it has been my dream ever since I was a little girl filling sketchbooks after sketchbooks of gowns, etc. Over the years, for some reason I kept falling out of love for it. I kept questioning myself and not feeling good about my path. During the pandemic, my doubts about staying intensified and it made me really think if I will still be happy with it. I felt disappointed in myself bc it felt like I was wasting all those years of hard work and effort. But by the end of 2021, I decided I will try and find a new path. Even though it's scary, I know it's better to try than not try at all. I wanted to find a new creative path where I can find happiness even in the toughest times. Now, I plan to study surface pattern design and explore art licensing and starting my own creative business. Thank you for sharing again, it makes me feel comforted that there are others who are in the same struggle and road as me and we are all trying our best to build the life we want.

I'm having this sort of balance between order and chaos. I studied Asian religion and philosophy--particularly Buddhism--during my MA program, but for the past two years I've been trying to land a job overseas teaching English in a Chinese speaking country. Obviously, this hasn't worked out for a long time because I graduated grad school back in 2020 so I couldn't go to China even after getting a job offer there. I recently landed an offer in Taiwan so I'm working on getting my visa and stuff for there. I'm super excited, but also super nervous because I wouldn't consider myself very knowledgeable about teaching language or English very much like how I'm knowledgeable about Asian religion/philosophy. I could easily see myself teaching courses on Buddhist philosophy, but not so easily with English as a foreign language. Nonetheless, I want to improve my Chinese skills so that I can have more opportunities for a PhD program in Asian religious studies, so it seems this is my best plan for right now.

It's so refreshing to hear this. I am like that myself and found adjusting to motherhood really hard. Although i loved them very much i felt my wings had been clipped. i couldn't articulate it properly, not even to myself. You have just summed it up. I'm not the sort of person who can stay in the same job twenty years-i need experiences and variety like a fish needs water. I'm so excited for you and your adventures actually bring me joy! Thanks for giving me ideas for a few years time, and i'll have my children, as young adults, to do it with me!

I am going through a transition too and I appreciate your positive outlook on it. I used to think that if I changed my mind about my career then I was a failure. But now, i see this transition as one of the biggest acts of self-care and I am enjoying the flow. Thank you! Best of luck and positivity to you both!

Your words are so comforting and literally speaks to what am I feeling. Quitting old things that don’t work for us anymore and trying new things should be normalized and not be any different than what everyone deems normal. I have came to a certain level of realization to things that are priorities in my life now and hoping to make some leaps of faith in the future as well to try different things. Thank you Sophie for sharing!

I always reconnect with your channel when I need it the most. Thank you for the gift of your creative content. Been in the medical field over 10 years and while I work with the best team and the pay is very comfortable, I feel ready to move on. I am looking into a non- medical role that still allows me to help and educate others but it will be my coworkers instead of patients. I am adverse to change so this is a big step to think of leaving my current role. But I'm learning that you never know unless you try. Intentional change doesn't happen when you do nothing. Xx

Wao... this video really resonate on me. I´m 26 years old, I´m finishing my college studies in Medicine, I recently created an IG to sell my silk scrunchies and pillowcases that my sister makes and I´m associated to a tiny library which we want to booster with a little cafe and I really don't know how long I want to continue with those activities and that´s makes me feel nervous. But as you said I need just to enjoy every step I´m living and learn of it. My habits, the thing I enjoy now are not the same I enjoyed in the past and that could happen in the future.
Thanks!! Hi from Dominic Republic, another beautiful island like yours.

Five years ago I called an end to my 9 to 5 working life and pursue something which is in line with my passion. There were some initial hesitation and worry about lost income but things turn out to be better than I have expected. I never regret the decision. I am sure you will find something better than what you currently get! All the best and keep up the good work. Your video is inspiring a lot of people!

These questions are truly very important and I think that everyone feels at some point that he/she outgrew the current job or position. Unfortunately too many people don't have the courage to change something (or they can't out of other reasons). I had my last big transition last year in summer. I quit my job because it was too stressful. Doing that for a longer time would have led me into a burn out. But it also took me 6 months to quit. Even though the circumstances in this job were terrible, I was very insecure about it. But in the retrospective it was a very good desicion. 😉

I am 100% taking this video as a sign. Not to be dramatic, but I was just having a mental breakdown with my husband about feeling unfulfilled, especially in work, and he has told me multiple times to quit and I never feel like I can justify it. But something about you saying you're outgrown it, really struck a chord with me. Hoping I find the courage to make some changes! ❤️

Oh I wish you are nearer and can talk to you in person. It is quite a struggle lately since my job is per hour and the pay is not enough, but still life is beautiful with little fragments that fill up our day. I live in a beautiful island here in Asia. Whatever you endeavour to begin from seemingly ground up, expect lots of upheaval, be it emotional, knowledge acquisitions, relationship adjustment with family, friends.... and whole lot of unexpected that will crop up. You can only rely on your wits to deal as you move along. All the best to your journey but from the measured calm, intellect and logical train of reasoning, you possess plenty of attributes to go far as skillsets and networks can be acquired if you stay focus and persist. The best😊

Hello Sophie🌸 Thank YOU for all your support and nice vibes coming from your channel 🙏 I love it and your voice is so healing to me ❤️‍🩹 You doing great job by your videos. I would like to just come and hug you so much but I live in Denmark, since 10 years now and it is way too far from you 😃 I’m hugging you virtually so far …❤️
I’m 43 and I quit my full time job here in Denmark ( I was working in nursing home and taking care of older people)
I always felt that working full time job is not for me, that I miss time to LIVE and enjoying my everyday life…
The time came when I could do it because I did big savings to be able to live one year without any job and prepare my own dream job - which is working for myself and working with flowers❤ so yes, I did open a flower webshop and little flowers shop on my ground and I have become my own boss . I’m doing what I love and I have a lot of time for myself ❤ The best decision in my life ❤

Okay I honestly needed to hear that so so much. Right now I'm thinking of going to school again to study veterinary medicine and I'm so scared because it's gonna be so challenging and time consuming and I'm so comfortable where I'm at but I still feel like I need some change in my life. But also I'll be 32 by the time I graduate if I even get in this year, so I'm thinking that I might be too old to start a career in this field and it makes me very anxious. This video gave me a little encouragement to pursue this new path and for that I thank you 🤍

Thank you for this video and the beautiful quotes. I really like the one about the ships and the harbour. It's the scariest and best thing to get out of the comfort zone.
It's true, you can always start over. I also quit my jobs and I am not sure what I will do next. But I don't regret it. I will find something that I love again. And maybe it will even be the same job, but whit another perspective.
