Bad people exists. Predators always prey upon what they perceive to be easy targets. They will hurt and steal and do whatever they like to get what they want. Is is vital for us to be situationally aware as much as possible. Especially in situations where we do not have the advantage like a dark almost empty parking lot. Situational Awareness, personal defense and tactics possible bad outcomes for intended victims all filmed next to a church and a cemetery. Great underlying theme intended or unintended for the viewers to heed your message else you might take up residence in said Cemetery sooner than planned.

As per the words of Col Cooper, I live in a situational state of color yellow. His writing on the principles of personal defense stands strong to this day. That being said, I always have a gun on me. But a gun is useless if you can't access it. I always have a CRKT Minimalist in my belt (Shout out to Alan Folts), left-hand side, ranger carry, it comes with the hardware to set it that way or neck carry. So if I'm trying to keep my gun holstered in a struggle (as in someone else is trying to draw it), I can access the knife with my off-hand, and you know the rest. I also keep a monkey fist with a 1/4-pound ball bearing on my keyring with a lanyard. The monkeyfist along with the various keys and other junk makes a handy flail if needed. And it's discreet, you have to have your keys to start your car .... no one will look twice at you carrying your keys. All that being said, I live in a rural area, I crank it up to Orange in a city, even a small one. Just because you ain't paranoid, don't mean someone ain't out to get you. Stay safe out there. The BSS V5 flashlight has a viscous DNA collector on the buisness end and a 2600 lumen tailswitch when used in conjunction makes a Flash + Bash technique the ladys may be more comfortable with. In Michigan where I live it is illegal to use a fixed bladed knife or carry it except for hunting and only a pocket or folding knife under 3 1/2" and not intended to harm someone. Taxes require a concealed pistol license (CPL)because it shoots out the prongs and no stun guns with a record or mental incompetency (IST). As soon as I legally can I'm moving to Texas maybe Austin where I have friends at and where it's legal to buy and possess a stun gun for me.
Oh yeah another fun fact and a good one: Michigan has stand your ground so if someone attacks or threatens you outside your home or inside I you're not required to egress until you can't.

I carry something very pokey when not carrying a handheld boomstick, it's easily to conceal and comes in different lengths and thicknesses, Scratch Awl / Leather Punch / Ice Pick, I have a couple, one of my favorites has a 1/2 base at the knob, you can hold different positions in the hand like a knife, I love my boomsticks and knives but this thing is wicked scary lookin, best ones to find is through a leather distributor.
Good morning Mr.Salyer. It's natural for a father to be concern, ours are very good at that too. Just like us we are sure that Little Miss On3 (with your fatherly guidance) will be able to avoid mishaps. We were trained to avoid & run whenever possible. Prevention is better than cure, but we were also trained if cornered "fight". Weapons are not allowed so we improvise. Between the twins & I, we've got a couple of trophies. Never underestimate the female ability. We bet Mrs.On3 can drop you while cooking dinner, feeding the kids and do her nightly Pilate and blindfolded all at the same time. True.? Anyway, we will be spending winter with Mum & Dad fixing fences, tend to the animals and doing a lot of survival challenges. We will be duplicating some of your ideas and scenarios. great topic so important , so important ... years ago a turd tried to mug me in a parking lot ... barely made it out of it in one piece! It happened in Canada ... I carry a fixed blade knife now everywhere , get a lot of hazels from the police here but it is worth it. Just remember it is the same all over the world girls and guys
I a,ways. Army my full steel friction lock asp with the leverage cap. I carry a esee 3 or tops ice dagger but haven’t in a while due to the reasoning that most encounters won’t require a blade, but an asp is an everyday use.

There was a video out of NYC last week of a guy lassoing a woman from behind. It reminded me of a trap door spider nabbing a bug, it was SO slick and so quick. Predator. Please talk about this subject to the women in your life.
It aint just women who figure if it aint happened yet then it aint gonna.
heres my 2 cents on a matter...a good quality(small)tactical flashlight around 500 lumens or up is very good option as a self defence tool it takes no space and almost no training to use effectively just practice to carry it in your hand when you roam around at night...for situational awarenes,cycling through the city will build your awareness along with cardio...
When you came bolting out from behind the vehicle it stunned me how fast you were. Unexpected. Perhaps expect something threatening and so be more responsive. Keep your keys poking out between your fisted fingers if you don’t have a sharp pokey thing. Go for the vulnerable spots quickly. Expect to do so.
It would be better to look for a Nissan Sentra pulling up. I could speculate on the physical description of the perpetrators.

Love that you train in BJJ. Does your wife train too? Getting your girls going at a young age is the best. Children are natural at it and pick it up faster than some adults and it promotes great discipline while zapping some of those energy reserves which drive some parents nuts. lol
Women have many advantages which Men do not. Gotta think creatively when storing tools on your person.
I know it’s easier and doesn’t obstruct a wardrobe considerations but Women/Men should only off-body/purse carry in rare circumstances and if you carry, you should practice your draw time & reduce it down to under a sub-second draw from concealed retention hitting A’s @15 yards. Start off slow, build accuracy then speed, then pressure and create training goals to build upon and you’ll be amazed at what’s achievable.
