      And as someone said in the the phone calls video "this ending is awfully odd smh, two years ago they were about to die for v's sake" it's like they were purposefully being spiteful and I don't understand why,
      Because to me that's genuinely what it feels like for that ending is it is just being mean for the sake of being mean it's like "you want to know? You want to know if you live fine here you fucking live but you have no one" it's still makes the nomad ending the best ending because at the very least through the tarot card readings you're probably going to live a lot longer than 6 months.

      @lostnemesis everything about thIs ending is about being selfish. So mi was selfish because she didn't want to die (especially with all the sins she committed). Reed using this whole thing to get back the life he lost( F I A gave him purpose). Panam leaving is on par even though she great she let's her emotions rule her.( probably realize she didn't know who she was without V and it piss her off that someone that valuable isn't Herr. Judy finally leaving night city to find herself. Almost ever character has a ending were they doing something for themselves that selfish.

      @@Centipedestyle89 Exactly, and also it makes sense thematically, as the Cyberpunk TTRPG franchise has always been a tragedy, and as V is a tragic hero, he succeeding has to come at a price, in the others it was your friends dying, give you soul to Arazak, survive only six moth or Jhonny takes your body, so if you are going to survive you needed a true sacrifice, and the idea of selfishness like you said was very prominent in this expansion and you have to be selfish to get this ending
      So it makes sense that you ended up driving you friends away like Songbird and Reed did

    In my opinion the top three endings are The Sun (suicide run), The Star (Nomad), and The Temple (Reed) and it’s because they all have a happy ending for V but they come with a massive cost in the end. There will never be a truly happy ending for V, but at least they got to try and fix everything in the end.
    It’s like Dex said when we first met him, “Quiet life, or a blaze of glory?” A foreshadow that V’s life would end in a literal manner.

      I always thought it was important to look at the endings through the lens of terminal illness. The Star always seemed the best when viewed like this, you get to live a few more months, accomplish everything you set out to do, and spend your last days surrounded by loved ones. I also personally subscribe to the theory that the cure isn't what left you weakened like this, but rather the NUSA strategically making sure you're no longer a possible threat. It explains why they never woke you up to talk to you about the risks or ask you if you still wanted to go through with it.

    This is, honestly, the best ending. V has his life and can do whatever he wants with it. He lost some people he'd been friends with for a couple moths, but he has the rest of his life to make new friends. Judy and Kerry could warm back up, as friends, while Vik and Misty will be in touch. V may not end up a legend, but that life got him killed twice--once after the heist, and again, symbolically, at the end. This is the best choice V could make. It's not exciting, it's not full of laughter and puppies, but it's real, and for someone as resilient as V, the depression will just be momentary. He doesn't have to die to be alive; he can just live.

    • @picallo1
      @picallo1 4 місяці тому +14

      I think its the worst. Yes V can start over but it seems as though everyone has left is leaving or doesnt want V around. He's a shadow a nobody and just as the end shows another face in the crowd. Loss of identity is worth than death in my book. Many dont see it that way but V said it clearly in the game. Being a Merc is not what they do its WHO they are.

    • @thibaultschoenfelder4962
      @thibaultschoenfelder4962 4 місяці тому +1

      I think it just depends on your point of view. It is a great ending in the sense where V can take a fresh start. He can be someone new, his past won't chase him ever again. He's done with Saka, he's done with the mercs, he's done the headhunters, he's done with the scavengers. He could be anyone, minus his cyberware.
      On the other hand, it is a miserable ending for a wannabe legend, he ends up being a nobody. He will be remembered as a legend, but won't ever *live* his life as a legend. And that's what they say. Legends are remembered by how they die, not how the lived. That's also what Rogue implies at the end. He will be remembered as an Afterlife legend, because people assume V died, and she suggests it to leave it that way, as this is the highest honor an edgerunners could dream of.

      for me its the worst ending as vs aspiration is to become a night city legend and they say many times that theres rarely ever a living legend i think v doing one last suicide mission in raiding mikoshi then vanishing with the nomads is the best option. as v at least is surrounded by people that care about him for the time he has remaining and he vanished before he could tarnish his own reputation and legacy.

It's not like they knew V was in a coma and they left V in the lurch. They couldn't reach V and thought V died. You can look at your phone in the game and see the numerous calls and texts from all V's friends. Freaking out, wondering where V is, begging V to reach out, and at least them know if V is alive, and they got no answer. Every ending in the DLC definitely. The nomad anything unless you really care about Teddy, Bobby and saul is the best ending because if you believe in Misty she basically says you're going to live a good life at the end.

    •  8 місяців тому +21

      Naaaah choom, it wasn't for nothing, he even has a line with Johnny saying he learned a lot, aaaaaaaaaand, he became a LEGEND, with his own drink no less, AND survived NC. No other character did it, Martinez, Jackie and Johnny had drinks... dead. Every legend is also dead. V is literally a living legend. The closest you get to be a legend would be, maybe what? "The Sun" ending, which u never even know if you survive it and definitely don't fear the ripper would elevate you to a legend. And after all, becoming a legend was a big deal for V.
      Also, I think this is one of the better endings and the one that captures best V's personality, think about it. When talking to Misty, you either say "won't give up", or if you choose the miracle one, Misty says "you really are unbreakable", and if you tell her it's good to leave, she makes you think about changes. Hell, even if you say that your life is over, Misty reminds you that twice it has been over, and twice you have rebuilt your life. Either option revolve aroud V's reslience.
      I think V's most important attribute is that he adapts, even when everything is lost or even if there is no way forward, he'll still walk the walk. And he quite literally does it, on the final scenes when some dude bumps into him, he looks at it, kind of maybe thinking what he would've done if that dude bumped into him 2 yrs ago, sees the crowd, realizes that right now he's just another face in the crowd......and..... what does he do?!?!? he SMILES, he knows everything is different but oh yeah, he's already thinking how he's gonna get back up, and keeps on walking.
      And that, i think, that's V's essence right there. God damn I loved this ending.

      I think that’s the point. That this life, this city, never lets you leave. The only real ending for me is the nomad ending but seeing them tell V to basically go fuck himself makes me rethink it. It’s like Edgerunners-a cautionary tale. V was fucked the minute he entered city limits.

  • @MichRoyal
    @MichRoyal 8 місяців тому +83

    I feel the worst part about this ending is it feels more like developer spite than a realistically bittersweet one. I just can't buy the fact V would up and leave without leaving some sort of contingency plan for Reed to at least call or inform his loved ones of the situation. V realistically would've definitely told his SO, regardless of who you chose, that things might go wrong and if they do, then this is the guy who will update ya'll and if he doesn't something is up. Even then, I feel it's weird how all the characters straight up abandon V after everything he did for them, yes 2 years is a long time, but it's not "abandon you forever" long, ESPECIALLY in Panam's case where V arguably saved her life and a future of misery on multiple counts. There's no way in hell Panam as emotional as she is, would straight abandon V, especially without getting answers. She'd be fucking PISSED sure, but she'd definitely need to talk to V face to face. Idk, everything just seems off with this ending for me in regards to the way the characters communicate with one another.
    I feel it would've been far more realistic if V still lost all the chrome and went into a coma, however all his loved ones were still there for him. If they wanted to keep it sadder, then perhaps they could show Reed's good intentions but controlling side as well, telling V he wouldn't permit him to go back to Night City because it's too dangerous for him/her there. Also, V is more of a cripple now than simply a person without Chrome. This'd cement the idea that V truly is perhaps, no longer in control of his own life at this point. Reed sets V up with a job at Langley, ensuring he'll be well taken care of and never have to worry about danger or income again. Another catch 22 that is both bad and good depending on your perspective. From there, V informs all his loved ones of the situation and you get more realistic reactions. Panam cares for you and says she was calling the hospital every day to see if you'd woken up. When you tell her your Langley situation, she says fuck that and that she and a few members of the family will come to pick you up and get you outta there. That now that you're cured there's so much they've got to show you and catch up on, especially her, because of how much she missed you. However, due to your crippled state you can no longer go out on missions with her or the boys.
    If you're with Judy, then because you kept her informed, you find she's been at Langley this whole time housed in a nearby apartment. That she's going to come see you and never gave up on you waking up again someday. You call Victor and find out he still sold out to the corps, but that he'd find time to come visit you someday. Kerry if he's romanced, you find out he's on tour but super excited to hear from you and that he'd fly out first thing tomorrow to come see you. River, you find that he also moved out and got a job as a military cop here at Langley and though there's corruption, he's happy and would be coming to see you right now. From there, you get to wheel yourself out and are about to catch a bus to what would be your new home. You get a glimpse of the "quiet life" at Langley, a peaceful and secluded military base that seems completely different from the world of NC. You ponder whether this really is the life for you, uncertain of what the future holds. Then at that moment, you run into Misty of all people who was coming to give you one last visit before flying out to Poland. You get to reflect on this with her, similar to this original ending, and perhaps voice your regrets that you're no longer the badass merc but a cripple forced to live a peaceful boring life, but Misty tells you that this is just a blank slate, and you can make it work etc. To trust in your future and friends. You still lost the necklace, but that still holds symbolic meaning here. From there Misty gives you a final gift, a lotus necklace in the meaning of rebirth.
    She leaves, and the ending cements with V perhaps needing help to get onto the bus from a military member and having to take the handicap ramp. However, he smiles looking out the window while sitting down, perhaps hopeful for the future. Credits roll, and you get reactions. Judy is oddly more like a house wife with her new look, telling you it's so exciting your home if you romanced her. Panam is ranting to you that the military personnel are giving them a hard time getting access to you without clearance, and if you could ring your friend (Reed) to fix it, and that she will burst from anxiety or excitement if she doesn't get to see you soon, and ends her call/rant. Victor says he has to push out the visit because the corps aren't giving him enough time off but that he'd find time someday. Kerry similar to Panam, complains about military clearance to get access to the base and that he's gonna contact the base commander and complain or something lol. River similar to Judy, is similar to a house husband (if you romanced him) and talks about how great it is that you're home etc. I feel this all would've cemented this ending JUST AS GOOD as the Aldecados one, but also having a downside somewhat.

Maybe regain his resistance to Cyberware, being able to wear combat implants slowly but surely. Also could it be that the organic Body V has now, might be a cloned body? That, NUSA is keeping V's real body somewhere else trying to find out more about the Biochip and Engram of Johnny. We were supposed to be out for couple months, but something just had to happen that it dragged us into a coma. My guess is they were doing alot more than just helping V. Maybe his body carried some sort of scientific breakthrough with Cyberware tolerance or perhaps they found out that two minds in one body could make for one hell of a special operative, so decided to expirement along that route. The way he just blends in with everyone else at the end is heavy.
    He's just another face in the crowd, another NC citizen. Nothing special about him anymore, except for his own memories of the past and a rep that only a few people, some of whom don't even matter anymore or he won't ever see again either because they are dead or far far away, would recognize. Man, this ending is heavy. I bet he's thinking about the days when he had that terrorist rocker boy in his head. And Panam, someone he really wanted to live for, wanted to stick around for and truly loved. Living on the edge, feeling like death was always one step behind-that's what kept him going. It's what let him meet all these people, go through the highs and lows, and become who he is now, even if he never saw it coming. It makes me sort of understand why he needed to come back to NC. His life, as we know it, happened there. No other place will ever compare because NC is truly his only home. Johny once said something like 'NC ate you up and shit you right out,' but V just had to come back. Well, this game, seriously, has some of the best storytelling ever. @@Lonewanderer30 the second part of this will be about endings. The short answer is reed was not in the base game. The long answer is pretty similar. It seems like when making this DLC they had bigger ambitions because you can see the bones of some of the things they wanted to do that have been left behind it's like they wanted to completely reformat the game because of the surprise success that the game had after edgerunner and the updates,
      But it also feels like this DLC has it's some anger that they had to work out for some reason because there is no Don't fear the reaper for this DLC there is no ending in this one where people come away clean it's almost like they didn't want that, and maybe that also plays into why you can't contact reed after that ending,
      everyone brings it up but is The nomad ending. Misty's tarot cards haven't been wrong to my memory and what she draws is basically saying you're going to live a lot longer than you were estimated. I just played through that ending not too long ago that was my palate cleanser.

    i hate it when people really think v is going to have a peaceful life but in reality he's screwed in night city. if we do get a sequel which we are, we aint going to play as v, its probably going to be someone completely different and probably a reference about v and v's clothes including v's bullet necklace. honestly if you want a good ending, just use star ending or facing arasaka by yourself.

    Man damn near brought me to Tears how everyone just somewhat bailed on V after just two years...makes you wonder how they actually cared about you or just were grateful for you being a One man Army who helped them with their problems. Its just sad man. Really fucks with my head. Especially the Nomads and Panam.. "we will ALWAYS be there for you V" well seems like "always" has a different meaning in their Culture. Really made me see the Nomands with a different perspective now. I mean they didn't call you to ask how you are , where have you been.. but instead to just tell you to leave them alone. Fuck the Nomads man.

      @chopchopchilliman because imo the length of the time you have spend with someone is less important then the quality of the time. My best friend for example I didn't meet in 1st grade but met when I was 19, and close friends I spend less then a couple months with.
      That's not considering how V basically changed their life while threatening his own fleeting time. I would just assume that's worth some loyalty. 2 years is nothing for someone who basically saved your Clan/helped you get revenge for the torture of your Ex/saving your nephew/ helping get your Rockstar career and saving your from depression and suicide attempts...

Corpo V is most definitely taking Reed up on his offer as he actually understands the benefits package. Streetkid will find another way to stay in the game, likely as a fixer with all the powerful connections V has made.

Though if CDPR make a second installment based on this ending, V could become the chief fixer instead of Bestia in the afterlife, because his reputation, despite being stripped of his combat implants, will remain intact.

    This hit me hard. It was the ending I got first time through the DLC. I guess I was hell bent on surviving. I got really invested in the characters, and then... everything V accomplished was ultimately for nothing. Their character development, their friends, and even Johnny is gone. Night City looks worse than when V left. It stuck with me for a week, and I stopped playing the game for that time. I've never felt that way from a game before.

    This is probably the happiest ending imo. Everyone lives, nobody dies, everyone is much better off. V is perfectly fine, they aren't dying, and they're still V (as opposed to Johnny). They lose the ability to be a psycho murder but that's a positive imo. Reed even offers you a cushy job in a locale that seems infinitely nicer and safer than Night City. You won't *need* to be a psycho murderer just to get by. It's tough for me to see how it could be any better unless they made it ultra sappy, rainbows and sunshine good ending... which wouldn't fit the series at all.

    If you think about it every legend in the game/story went out sad. Bartmoss died of “heart failure” after everything and ended up in the city dump. Johnny was taken out by Smasher and finally “killed” by soulkiller. He was “covered in his own piss and shit” and was dumped in a random oil field. And V lost literally everything except her/his life. While sad, this ending fits. V became a legend but it cost him/her everything.

    Although this ending is really depressing but beautifully done. Was V smiling at the end when he walked in the crowd at the end? Was he accepting his new future as "Face in the crowd"? V is alive but not dead, eeking out his life as a civilian with no chrome. In the world of Cyberpunk the majority of people are mostly flesh and blood with minimal modification it seems, it just happened that in the game as V. We encounter many chromed up characters but the normal NPC we were walking past.
    Wonder if V will really take up the offer that Reed gave him to work for him or will V stay in Night City? But since all his friends are gone, no reason to stay anymore. Beside V is technically still young, around 29 by now (Was 27 in 2077)

    I don't see this ending as sad. At least not in the grand scheme of things. Yes V lost the new friends made in the game... But they only knew each other for a few weeks or months tops. V had an entire life before them and now he/she will have an entire life. Maybe he can be a part of their lives again down the road or maybe not. However the most important thing is that V will have a life. He will have decades to make a new life with new people. Look at Judy. She got out of the hell hole that is NC and made a family. V can do the same.
    All the other endings will have V die. In this emding the whole world is open to him. If I may quote a written line from Pixar's UP.
    "Thanks to the adventure. Now go have a new one."

    the way i see it, this ending isn't as bad as most make it out, V is alive and has the potential to rise again for a second Conflict if we keep going for songs. V is about as beaten and bitter as they were when jackie died and they found out NOTHING could be done about johnny slowly killing them. As soon as the choom gets of their ass and get into gear they can burn bright again. until they get fixed they can utilize powerjacks, tech goggles, external Cyberdecks, smart weapons hard jacked to the goggles, armowewave fabric mods, and heck with the amount of resources Mr. Blue Eyes has, i could easily see him offering a new type of cyberware to V as long as V does something for him and then learns that cyberware leaves him forced to work with Blue Eyes.
    Living is better than dying or pretending any one else had a cure, Biotechnica maybe with nanobots but lets be honest the NUSA had nanobots too and they couldn't repair V's Brain when they scooped out the bad parts cause of the mystery neural anomaly. Even Arasaka who were the experts on the relic damage encountered the same problem scooping out the brain area, cept unlike the NUSA they weren't able to save V's life, probably because they didn't remove the cyberware.

    The real Phantom Liberty were the friends you lost along the way. Seriously, it's scary how two years is enough for a loved one to become a stranger with their own self contained problems that really have nothing to do with you. Real everlasting love is nothing but a fairy tail. Time really rules over everything, and it leads everything to the same fate, not even affection and empathy are immune to it.

    But why don't fear the reaper is the "canonical ending"?
    In CB2077 and edgerunners we alredy saw the "evil corp" side of things. Judging by CDPR inspirations like Ghost in the Shell and Neuromancer (the crystal palace heist and V's condition is almost a copy of Neuromancer's plot) I really think rogue AIs will be the next big thing.

    Actually, this is the best ending for V possible. He/She still has their skills (they just can't us implants). Has ties to the NUSA (who want to hire them). Is a living Afterlife legend (that reputation could lead to a comfortable career as a fixer). Has a good relationship with most of the fixers in the city. Is an official member of the Aldecados. And no chrome means V has to stay out of trouble or it could mean certain death. V is perfectly set up to become an intelligence agent for NUSA, or a successful fixer in NC. Most importantly their still alive. Happy ending if you ask me.

    The bonds he had with them were definitely portrayed to be more but they didn’t have the same amount of time put behind them as some did
    I do feel like maybe this ending is meant to lead to a sequel where you get v back he finds the pendant and starts to notice changes
    If they wanted to do more with v specifically they would have needed to find a way to bring him back to square 1 or even lower than that and they would have needed to keep him alive or have made a way for him to come back
