You should disconnect the Negative terminal first not the Positive, When the negative is disconnected the battery is no longer grounded , then the positive post cant spark. The reverse is Positive 1st and Ground (Negative) 2nd for installing battery

You did the battery terminals wrong you always unhook the negative terminal first so if you touch the positive terminal to the frame you don't have sparks flying. Remember the ground goes to the frame you will never have sparks touching the frame on the negative side unless it's a old positive ground system like in the Ford 8n's. Then you always reattach the positive terminal first then the negative cable last. Great videos it's nice to see your wife back and on the videos.

Don’t need to make comment about negative terminal first (removal) and last (install). 1 suggestion, always charge the new battery before install. Fresh batteries off the Retailers shelf will have lost a couple tenths of voltage. As part of my process, I put a 2 amp charge into the battery while I clean up the battery box, cable terminals and hold down bracket. Even 10 minutes is enough to support prolonging the life of the battery. The first discharge (starting the engine) on a slightly discharged battery will shorten its life. The folks at Johnson Controls (JCI) will tell you this. BTW, don’t forget to check the cable to terminal condition. If the battery terminal was a corroded, good chance there is cable corrosion where it connects to the terminal.

I was kind of thinking, as he struggled trying to get that big rock out, that if he couldn’t get that bolder out of the hole a solution would’ve been dig down beside it push it into the deeper hole cover it over. Of course with frost heave it would come back up over the next few years depending on how deep he put it the first time.

Hey Josh thank you for the video I enjoyed it and to let you know what I do is I put a piece of plywood underneath the battery because it can conduct or conduct that's if I am even saying its rights that's why they say never put it on the concrete floor or metal because I can conduct and slowly drain the juice out of your battery and so I always use a piece of plywood inch and a half and put it underneath the battery all year round

I had to laugh at the end when he said the small boulder he was holding up with the backhoe was 700 pounds😂😂

Ya maybe 100 lol. And also the big one would be no where near 2500 the backhoe wouldn’t be able to handle that or anywhere close to that.

Just dig the hole a couple of feet deeper and roll the rock back in the hole. Done with, no disposing of the stone.

Dielectric grease is non conductive and shouldn't be applied to the mating surfaces of the connections. After the connection is made then apply to keep out moisture.

Another internet misconception. Dielectric grease makes no difference for conduction but does a very good job of corrosion resistance

Those battery terminal/clamp wire brush cleaners date back to the early 1960's . Remember my dad using them on the two Volkswagen bugs and the 1946 Dodge. Long generators actually had a tendency to overcharge the batteries as a result she had to put distilled water in the cells about once every 3 months if you were expecting your battery to last 24 months. I keep spare battery terminals in the glove box of my pickup truck and one of them cleaners. My current battery was built in 9/17 have added water once. The 2Nd. of Walmart made in South Korea wet cell batteries in the last 10 years, by Johnson controls, who had bought out interstate, optima (which we're good batteries until Johnson controls built a factory in Mexico shut down and laid off all the American factory employees and the batteries became crap and the most expensive you can buy at one time) the Sears die hard batteries if I remember correctly, O'Reilly premium battery lines if I'm not mistaken.
Johnson controls sold their battery manufacturing divisions to to their competition in 2019 per my research on Google.
