      I don’t believe this man had a background in heavy equipment. He did fine considering. Although Kind of a big production for a quick driveway culvert. I could do that in two hours with just the tractor without the back hoe, or just the backhoe, or just the skid steer. Don’t need all three. The tractor and backhoe is handy for anything done on this small farm. In my opinion, Could probably sell the other tractors, keep one old rear pto tractor,and use the skid steer very little, and the backhoe for everything else

    May I make a suggestion? If you put a cage shaped like a half cone. The large end would fit over the end of the pipe. The other end should wide enough to fit in the bottom of the ditch on the up hill side . when the water comes down it will push the debree up the cone to let the water flow through the pipe. the cone should made out of rebar. This is just a suggestion.

      Very important to have at least 1/8" of fall per foot to have flow. On cross drainage you really need more so pipe will not trash up. Need to take into consideration inlet head wall also. Outlet will need surge stone to dissipate constrated flow to sheet flow.

      Maybe you couldn't see .....but that pipe is HUGE!!!! The wall thickness of that steel pipe is 5/8 it will be there 200 years from now brotha. I get what you're saying totally ......however If it were a main driveway or entry pipe to a heavily traveled area...yep I'd have it depper...this is gonna be for tractors and cattle....the occasional truck. Trust me....it's gonna be fine....easy enough repair if needed in the future...I could have buried that pipe a little deeper for sure....one of my goals was to divert water that comes off that hill until we get better pasture established...might re-do it in a few years....might eat my words lol...I've done it before

    Good morning! Iced up here SW of you and power is out so generator is running. I saw that GoPro come off on about your second trip up the hill and wondered how deep it was buried. I guess it all worked out ok.
    I have not seen it happen, but I have heard, and two commenters here have pointed out that pushing with the bucket pointed down is hard on cylinders. It would seem to be a bad mechanical advantage kind of position. It also would seem that there’s not much advantage over skinning the surface with the bucket nearly level anyway. Anyway, like I said, this is just what I’ve heard.
    I also don’t expect that 5/8” steel is going to collapse unless you put some serious weight on it. If it does, there might be other weight-related problems nearby.

    • @StoneyRidgeFarmer
      @StoneyRidgeFarmer  3 роки тому +1

      Cab!!! WOOOOOOO!!! Capabilities of running a batwing...and haying equipment if I ever start helping my step dad bale hay.....for an 80 acre farm...it just depends on what you're doing. I'd never again buy a tractor as small as the 5065 and have the expectation that it will handle a property this size by itself. It simply wasn't enough tractor. Mowing an acre an hour.....having 100-140 acres in pasture.....do that math 3 times per year!! The cows are doing most of the work.....a batwing mower is a must for clipping and weed control. Look for something in the 70-80 plus hp range and consider a cab...if you wanna be comfy and not overstress a smaller machine. It all depends on the lay of your land and what you're gonna do my friend

    You need all 4 tires loaded on your John Deere Tractor and a toothbar on the bucket. It will dig easily 5X better/faster and you can still use the back edge of the bucket to finish grade. Get the tooth bar on Ebay with the large teeth not the small jagged ones. The large teeth pop the hard dirt up better and can be used to rip up sod in strips to bust it up before you start digging. It will make the sod much smaller clumps. Hard clay and gravel is no match for a toothbar plus it is easier on your equipment.

      @@StoneyRidgeFarmer i have one for my tractor to. Really like it. The only issue i have is when i take the backhoe off the chains that hold implement from rubbing on tires hits the backhoes support. You will see what i mean when you change implements.
      Can ya let me know if you have this issue as well? Great clip and the tractor really looks cool with your tractor!👍😇🇺🇸🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜

    Is that backhoe a 3pt attached unit or sub-frame attached unit?
