  • Many people have lots of ties and often times those ties just sit in a drawer or hang in a closet never to be worn again.In this video Linda walks you through how to prepare a tie to then convert it into a Quilt Block. Enjoy!

    I’m in the process of moving and waiting for my older house to sell, but once it’s sold, I will be sewing the next month. I recall packing up 100’s of ties in a box! Tfs

    Thank you,
    my dad passed in 2011 he was a banker and wore a tie everyday infact the only time he never wore a tie was on satrdays when he gardened wth mum. So I kept his ties and untill to day I wasn’t sure what to do with them they were to good to just give away some I brought myself on trips overseas.I did make our 2 sons a quilt each using his shavng coats which they very affectionately call their Grundy Quilts, so I am thinking maybe a Tie Cushsion each as they are in their 20’s now and live interstate with the Grundy Quilts and they love lounging watching sport for downtime.

    In the Nottingham recycles tie pouch video she said they use the inner stabilizer for reinforcing bag handles.

    Gonna have to make the trek out to see your shop. We’re in Dallas, but I’ve got friends in East Texas (Pine Mills and Wills Point) that I should pay a visit to, now that the weather is a bit better. A quick peek into a quilt shop is even more excuse for a couple of good road trips. 😉
    Thanks for sharing the tutorial!

    Do you have a pattern available for your cat quilt, it's amazing, I would love to make it for a cat sanctuary I sew for.

    Can you explain how you cut the stabilizer and put it on the necktie before cutting the ties up

    • @StitchinHeaven
      @StitchinHeaven  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Joyce! That stabilizer you are referring to is what was used when the manufacturer made the tie. Linda is removing it when taking the tie apart, and throws it away. She then uses a different stabilizer (similar to when you do a t-shirt quilt) before using the tie in the quilt. Hope this helps.

    I love your tutorial on tie quilts. I might have missed it but what kind of interfacing did you use?

    I enjoyed your demo but strangely enough just could NOT take my eyes off that cats quilt behind you! Do you have a pattern for it or did I hear you say you made it up and it was just displayed because the "fabric" used were neckties you disassembled and repurposed? I would love that pattern if you created one

    I have a huge huge extra large garbage see through bag of silk ties and wonder if I need a special detergent to wash the ties?

      @@daisydiaz6338 Yes I saw A LOT of questions were asked in the comments but NO ANSWERS. I had given this video a thumbs up but seeing that they don't have the decency to answer questions I'm taking it away
