my favorite journal question is "What's a big deal right now?" because I am very anxious and I like to go back and look at all the things that turned out to not, in fact, be that big of a deal.
I use a bullet journal and I've been pretty consistent with it. It's been my preferred method for journaling for a while now. What I usual do is keep track of my habits, journal about my writing progress, and then do some reflective journaling abiut my feelings. The hardest thing is writing 1 thing I'm grateful for.
I usually journal as part of my evening routine -- I set a timer for 10 minutes and just write whatever's on my mind. (Usually it start's with what I did that day, but sometimes it'll be things I'm annoyed at, happy about, need to reflect on, etc.) I know there are all sorts of journal prompts out there, some of them as "productivity hacks" (Ali Abdaal has a few videos on this), but I usually find that if I'm too structured, I freeze up. I treat my journal as a good friend I want to keep up-to-date on what's going on in my life.
ive been journaling many years and its my no.1 way to release und process my feelings - which i have a lot of cuz im a hsp ^^' at the start it helped me to really make it MY thing, i dont have to journal the way my mom does or the way someone online shows it. about what or how much i end up journaling fluctuates every day but it really helps me to feel more emotionally balanced. but imo its also important to say that journaling/processing feelings through words is not for everybody and thats okay, too! my friend just doodles her surroundings and thats how she can calm down :)
Sorry I'm a few days late to watching this video. This is actually so useful. I think I might get that book too. Thanks for the words of wisdom Abbey!!
Abbey, this is so helpful. I've stopped journaling because of the critic on my shoulder. Thank you for the solutions. I think I'll open the journal again
Write about how you feel. How did that event affect you emotionally? What are your goals and dreams? Why? I don't have a plan. I just write what I am thinking about at the time. That's it. And I write every morning. ❤ a Four

I love this video! My professors would always empathize the importance of reflection, and I agree, so I love this!

Oof I totally get how hard gratitude can be - especially when you’re going through a hard time

Yes! Choose what works for you! Drawing and doodling can also be a great expression tool!
