I bought one of these no-name "shari" clones off of Ali Express. Was only like $45 and worked fine. As I recall... I programmed it using the built in SA818 programming software in hamvoip.
I am just getting started with AllStar so this was a real help to me, Freddie - thanks! Just a side note - I did find the background music to be distracting overall and not adding to the video.
@@3994cn you and me both. It was a last minute change because UA-cam was gonna ding me over the free music I originally chose and was no longer free, and then I got the levels for the new music too high
Thank you so much for the quieter version, Freddie! I spent most of my rainy Monday getting my Allstar node up and running and adding Supermon in to the mix. Could not have done it without your guidance! Mike/K4NLC
@@EvgeniX. exactly, but I wasn’t referring to cyber security when I made the reference. I’m sorry if I didn’t explain it well. I’m bad that way sometimes. But I do appreciate you watching very very much.
My home node came from Amazon, possibly this same brand? (Not sure) But it's been working just fine for years, I don't have any complaints. Thanks for doing the review and setup video!
Had similar qrm, had the wrong freq pair set. They wouldn't have you a 2m one would they have? Yes they work all throughout the bands even works on offset..i said they work..not worked well .i three in my parts bin
Is it possible a Rasp Pi 5 may not recognize the clone shari pi? I have the clone programmed but when in the CLI selecting the USB it says "USB device string was not found". What USB jumper port would I need possibly? Thank you Freddie
They might be OK for some people. I even considered one of these clones at first to make things easier... I'm not a cheap ham. I paid to get a real SHARI Pi node built (HEY! I can't solder! Leave me alone or do a perfect job for me!)... And it works great! 73!
I've been using these for a while (a little over a year). Shout out to LB0FI as well because his video helped me out too! I wish the software would support\add DCS tone programming. It looks like the build mentioned with the node (and in this video) is behind and newer builds support DCS, just no update to the windows version of the app. I tried a little bit to figure it out but did not get very far.
