Lorraine doesn’t get the massage Marty is never wanting to spending time with her. Then when Marty leaves her and George, her lines to him are very ‘you’ll forget me in time’
The man who says “it’s too loud” is actually Huey Lewis whose song is Power of Love aka the song Marty is performing
Ohh yeah!? That's awesome! Thanks for sharing.
"I'm afraid you're just too darn loud..."
Too l- THAT'S YOUR SONG, U ASSHOLE lmao
I'm probably in the minority, but I think Back in Time is the better song.
@@WhiskyCanuck i agree with you. Ive always enjoyed back in time more.
Haha I went to the comments expecting someone to say that and here it is
One thing I really love about this movie is the fact that Marty and George try to trick Lorraine into getting with George, but in the end, George had to become a stronger person, essentially worthy of Lorraine, rather than just winning her by trickery.
That is true... Good point. :)
Your pfp creeps me out...
I bet the story of how they met they told young Marty is a lot better now😉
You: “Tell me he’s not gonna make out with his Mother in this, come on guys.”
Us: “We make no promises “
Hahaha.... right? Nice.
Surprised George didn't have a problem that his son looks exactly like the guy Lorraine had a crush on in high school.
Lmfao
At the start, they're meeting at Twin Pines Mall, but if you look at the sign when Marty gets back at the end, it's Lone Pine Mall. Marty ran over one of old man Peabody's pine trees when he escaped the farm. Got to love that attention to detail.
Ohh wow! Thanks for sharing. That's an awesome detail!
🤦🏻♀️ I've seen this movie a million times (first time was in the theater when it first came out) and I never noticed that 😂🤣😂
There's an incredible amount of such details in the movie. For example you can see the intact ledge at the clock tower in the beginning but when Marty comes back you can see the missing piece from now on.
If you really know what these details actually are predicting, well preprogramming, then it's much much more incredible. Or much more morbid, it depends on Zemeckis' motives on doing so. If it was preprogramming or there to help to reveal that huge amount of people have known it already and thus it shows how deep the rabbit hole really is.
One of the best movies of all time. Can’t believe you’ve never seen it!
I can see why it is such a classic movie! This must have been amazing to watchin 1985.
@@NewfieMovieReactions well, I was born in ‘85, I watched this one when I was like 4, I liked the second one better as a kid, because it was more visually interesting, as an adult, I appreciate the tight script and humor of this first one the best.
@@nickmanzo8459 hey 👋🏼 I’m an ‘85 baby too haha 👌🏼
When Marty spit out the "alchohol" in car scene with Lorraine it was because unbeknownst to Michael J Fox the flask was actually filled with alchohol and it was his honest reaction 🤣
Really!? That's awesome! Haha thanks for sharing.
Saw it in the theater, then grew up watching it on tape, and later got the Trilogy DVD. An all time favorite for me.
Nice! I can see this being a lot of peoples favorite movie of all time!.
Here’s a little trivia, the actor that plays George McFly refuses to be in the sequel because he was being offered too little money. So the studio used a mold from this movie to make a mask of his face, then had a different actor wear the mask, and did some movie magic to make it look like it was the same guy in the sequel.
Crispin Glover then sued the studio and won because they used his likeness without his consent. Since then they made it a law that you can not use an actor or actresses likeness in a movie without their consent. It’s kinda like how they made the Jackie Coogan law Where they put aside 15% of a child actors income in an account that a guardian can’t access till they come of age, this is because Jackie Coogans parents took all of the money he made acting and gave him nothing.
It didn't seem like that big of a deal back then in the 80's, because the amount of effort it took to even attempt a likeness was enormous. It's rather prescient now though, with CGI and deepfake trickery making it rather trivial (but still uncanny valley) to do.
Man, I've never seen someone catch the "burned down the mansion for the insurance money to fund the time machine" subtext on the first viewing. Fantastic catch
Thanks! I do try and pay very close attention to details in my reactions. If not, people will flame me in the comments. Haha. :)
Yeah I was too.
_"Putting the guitar on ten. There's no other volume setting than ten"_ - You my friend need to watch the heavy metal spoof film *This is Spinal Tap* Then you will be forced to review your opinion about what volume settings are possible ;oP
"Haha! You can see the CG effect. That's awesome."
Umm.....nope. No CGI here. Optical and practical effects ruled the day - computers were still too slow and expensive to be useful most of the time.
Yeah, force of habit to call any special effects CG. Haha I need to work on that. :)
If wasn't pointed out already or you hadn't noticed it, there was another time paradox. Recall the scene when Marty starts cranking out Johnny B. Goode and the band leader Marvin Berry races to the phone to call his cousin Chuck, to tell him, "I found that sound you were looking for...", or something like that? He was calling the real Chuck Berry who would hear that song, remember it and make it the hit song he's most known for. ✌️😎
It's funny how Michael J Fox was shooting this at the same time as he was shooting Family Ties. Alex P Keaton was a completely different character.
Ohh yeah? I totally forgot about Family Ties!
Can’t believe you’re just seeing this, that’s great
Only took me 35 years haha
@@NewfieMovieReactions Better late than never.
What a magnificent movie. I have rarely seen a movie with a good of a narrative structure as this. There are three plots that are constantly interweaving. Marty has to get his parents to fall in love. He has to get back to the future. And he has to save Doc’s life. It has three climaxes, one for each plot. Despite this, the pacing is perfect. Somehow they develop every character fully. Even the minor characters like Mayor Wilson, Jennifer, and Marvin Barry’s band are done perfectly and add to the authenticity of the world. It’s an amazing piece of filmmaking.
Great reaction, back to the future has some of the most quotable lines in cinematic history
Yup! Indeed. My fav was "When we get this baby to 88, you're going to see some serious $#!t. Haha
I LOVE this series!!! It took me a year to talk my youngest son (13 now, 10 back then) to watch it with me bc he thought it would be stupid!! Well needless to say, he immediately wanted to finish the other 2! These are timeless!! It’s not like a lot of other movies these days where it’s unbelievably obvious it was filmed decades ago! Ya know? That did an AMAZING job with these movies! Great reaction Newfie! Movin on to your part 2 reaction now!!
What a fun movie! Loved every minute of it. Especially the Doc. Looking forward to watching part 2 and 3. Comment below with your thoughts! Peace & Love everybody!
2 and 3 were filmed at the same time. The end of part 2 includes a trailer of part 3. If you don't want to see it, just be aware of it and be ready to cut it.
:D i cant wait for your reaction :D
Whats interesting to me is that since Marty changed how is dad was as far as confidence, then he risked a lot more than just changing his parents demeaner. Due to his parents new found relationship/life, they could have been rich and/or not even lived in Hill Valley, thereby changing whether or not he ever meets doc to begin with or Jennifer for that matter.
It's interesting that you called what I would say was the least convincing effects shot in the entire film 'CG'. That implies that when you can tell something is fake it's usually CG. That wasn't CG, it was 1985. While that's three years after Tron, CG wasn't used very much at all in filmmaking (The Last Starfighter would seem to contradict me but I did say 'much'. Tron was a one-off and a flop. The shot where he holds up his hand in front of his face and it slowly vanishes is a blue screen shot, a composite put together on an optical printer, not CG.
I swear, it's like I live for people's reactions to these movies.
Also, are you an auctioneer? Your intro and outro was frikin' smooth af! LOL
Haha Nope I'm not an auctioneer, I'm just a Newfie.. People from Newfoundland talk fast. :)
@@NewfieMovieReactions That's awesome! Never been, but it looks gorgeous. Keep it up man, I like your style.
Keep your promise that you'll do 2 & 3! Due to the amount of time between this and 2, a different actress plays Marty's girlfriend in 2 & 3. 2 & 3 were filmed simultaneously so the continuity works. LOVE your Harry Potter reactions!!!
The whole trilogy is excellent.
Can't wait to watch the next one! Woot!
80s and 90s weren’t good times....they were the best.
I’d give anything to go back and relive the 1980s again.
Arw you prepared to be internet-less in the 80s and experience the true life feels of the 80s and respect your parents while still having the knowledge of the future and also to beat the system of whatever anything you know and live a large life at a young age?! Sheeit, I would! I would make my parents respect me as a child! And let me do whatever I want! And at the same time be smarter than my parents soo hard that I'll be their parents!
All we need is...a time machine
I was 12 in 1985, the perfect age for these movies!
Nice! Yeah 12 would be a great age for that movie.
Oh me too ! And my father's name was George - I saw it with him !
I never realized this before, but if Biff hadn’t shown up when Marty was in the car with Loraine the plan wouldn’t have worked
Life, uh... finds a way.
These reactions are gold
Thanks!! :)
Oh man Eddie! This was so much fun!! It’s so cool to see a movie I’ve seen so many times through someone else’s eyes! I actually caught things I’ve never noticed before. Loved it!! 😃✌🏻💜
Glad you enjoyed it! It seems like a movie that you need to watch a few times to catch everything. :)
Yassss! I’ve been waiting for this! Its one of my favourite movie trilogy’s of all time. Defo the best time travel lore in any film. I’ve got the original movie poster on my wall and loads of BTTF Memorabilia :D
Hahaha awesome! What a fun movie. I enjoyed watching it again during editing. :)
Awesome, I’m glad you enjoyed it. I can’t wait to see your reactions to pt2 & pt3 :D
3:39 That would be Huey Lewis telling someone his own music is to loud.
Golly Jeee, are those for me??? I laughed so hard, I came.
So you were born in 1981? So was I... and yes.. if you were born in 1981... you had the best of both worlds!! Kid in the 80's and teen in the 90's... BEST TIME EVER!!!!
I totally agree!
2:04
Newfire: no other volume setting then ten
Me: ask Spinal Tap... I'm sure they'll disagree with you 😜
Nice! Haha
The Dolorean time traveling is still my favorite special effect and it still holds up. Practical effects are still the best.
Back to the Friggin' Future!
Yeeeeeaaaahhhhh buddy!
"That looks like friggin Janet Reno over there" LMFAO... Dude.. I have seen this movie hundreds and hundreds of times.. and never caught that!! But your right damn it!! haha.. Great call!!
Christopher Lloyd has the best facial expressions. Still does.
Fun Easter egg is that at the beginning of the movie the mall is called twin pines mall but when he goes back in time he knocks one down so when he goes back to the future the name changed to one pine mall
Thanks for sharing! That's an awesome detail in the movie I missed.
Michael J Fox was initially not cast in the film as he was already doing the show ‘Family Ties’ which was one of the biggest shows of the 1980s probably the second most watched show after Cheers
They asked the show runner of Family Ties (Gary David Goldberg) and he didn’t want to lose his big star from his show so he didn’t tell Michael J Fox because he felt bad about denying him a job in a Steven Spielberg produced time travel film
So the film makers hired the actor Eric Stoltz however wasn’t working because he took the role too seriously and had everyone call him Marty off camera too
So when he was fired they went to Michael J Fox who was coming off of Teen Wolf which wasn’t a great success but when the show runner of Family Ties was asked again he allowed Fox to do the role so long as he was still able to do the show so Fox ended up working on Family Ties during the day and Back to the Future during the night getting about 3 hours sleep in the back of a car while being driven from each set
They ended having to reshoot all the scenes with Marty that had already been
Dude, I’ve been happily married for 16 years… and I still check out other chicks in front of my wife.
Nooo wayyy! you had never seen Back to the futur neither! can't wait to watch your reaction :D edit: Fun fact, the guys shouting at Marty because his music is "too loud" is actually Huey Lewis, the guy who made "Power of love" and "Back in time" :D
Nope! I went through a list of classic movies and there is several that I have not seen yet. This is one of them. :)
Another fun fact, the burger king "add" when Marty leave the doc's lab was actually not a product placement! it was actually not wanted but it still made the cut and gave A LOT of free publicity to Burger king!
The mall is called "two pine mall" but Marty rolls over one of the two pine tree with the Dolorean in Peabody's yard (the owner of the mall) and because of that, in the new 1985, the mall is called "Lone pine mall" (Definetly one of my favorite fact)
When I first watched this movie,
Lorrain: that’s Calvin Klein, omg he’s a dream
Me: who’s Calvin Klein ? that’s the underwear brand
5 years later, rewatched the movie
Me: Ohhhhhh, I see
My favorite movie of all time. I am so happy to see another person be introduced to it. Hope you enjoyed it!
I loved it! Can't wait to check out the rest of the trilogy.
The spit take was real because the crew put real liquor in the bottle as a practical joke.
Now you gotta watch part 2 to find out what the future will be like in 2015!
next watch Howard the duck.. You'll have a lot of fun watching that one
I have to find out why you said “poindexter” describing George mcfly. You couldn’t have played with Barbie dolls in the Sixties. Her two male doll admirers were (handsome) Ken and (dorky) Poindexter.
I have never heard any mention of Poindexter since then. 🤓🤓🤓🤔🤔🤔
Not sure, it was just a saying we had growing up. I'm not sure where it came from. Haha. Sorry.
16:45 That was a Kramer moment. Except that this movie came out in 1985 and Seinfeld didn't air until 1989, so...
to the extent they're coincidental, Kramer has been having Doc Brown moments. And don't discount the possibility that Michael Richards took his inspiration for Kramer consciously or subconsciously from this Christopher Lloyd performance.
My take on this exactly. However, good catch !
"Hook up with your mom." It's what Fry, from Futurama, did. He ended up killing his own grandpa, hooking up with his grandma and he ends up being his own biological grandpa.
Which is relevant several times later in the series and Futurama movies too
"Millenium" staring Chris Christopherson and Cheryl Llad is another good time travel flick. Not really any comedy in it but it makes you contemplate more of the complications and dangers of interferring with the events in the past if you do go back. 🙂
Thanks for the suggestion.
This movie was great. Glad you are reviewing it.
I was just telling a friend, ever since this Movie I have wanted
a pair of purple Calvin Klien Regular Briefs but I can not find them.
Haha I've never seen them either. I wonder if they were a hot seller when this movie came out.
We have a delorean my husband converted to a Time Machine. It can be part 1, 2 or 3. Super fun. We've met some of the actors, too and my husband just recently published a book. :) You could say Back to the Future is pretty big in our house.
Cool
I keep expecting you to say “oh my stars”. 😆
Great reaction, BTTF is one of my favourite franchises. Can't wait to see you react to the next two (part 3 is my favourite) 😊
I can't wait either! Looking forward to it!
Awesome reaction, you're really good at picking up the tiny details that set up things for future scenes
I appreciate that! Thanks!
you have 2 watch the second one
The one thing about Timetravel in Back to the Future you have to remember is, that Time-Travel here works in such a way, that everything will happen the way it always has. It is only as soon, as Marty travels into the past, that he changes stuff and his present changes accordingly. This means, that every time, Marty changes something in the past, a new timeline is created. This also means that in the first scenes with his mom and dad, they actually met through the car-accident and Marty was never around in any way. So this also means, that they for example picked the name Marty by themselves and not, because they knew it from Marty in the past, because the original timeline never had a Marty in the past...
Also, a very interesting little easter-egg. The Twin-Pines Mall was, as doc said, named after the farmer who wanted to cultivate pines but never got above his first two. Unfortunately, Marty destroyed one of them with his DeLorean and so in the new timeline the Mall is now called Lone-Pines Mall. Just one great example of how the timeline works in Back to the Future 😉
Woah that hurts my brain! Haha. Thank for sharing!
Who else remembers Will Ferrell as Janet Reno on SNL? 🤣
That's why I said it. SNL is my favorite show of all time. That clock lady gave me Will's Janet Reno vibes. Haha. "NO MOSH PITS... PLAY MY SONG... and SAVE THE CLOCK TOWER!"
the full reaction is soooo worth it... part 2 soon, please
Recording it on Monday. Will be posting in next week. Stay tuned. :)
Well some speakers go to 11 ...
Doc gives Marty that strange look up and down at the beginning because he's remembering that's exactly how Marty was dressed when he met him in 1955 and he's knows it's all about to go down. Does that make perfect sense timeline wise? Maybe no, but they were having fun with it.
"the doc's alive!" ha, you just pre-quoted something. And for great "make out with mom" madness, look up "BTTF S*x Scenes" on YT. CollegeHumor fully explores :).
Assuming you plan on watching all 3 eventually (I'm pausing literally 1:02 in,) at the end of 2 DO NOT WATCH THE CREDITS. They filmed 2&3 at the same time and there is basically the entire Cliff's notes in spoilers as a trailer. Also; as I presume that in your free time you may want to rewatch them; the amount of minor changes to 1985 Hill Valley California (that you are not likely to notice more than a few the first time;) between the opening and the end of the 3rd one is insane. From the mall going "Twin Pines" to "Lone Pine" to the names of landmarks there's likely hundreds (I've noticed about 80 over the years.)
Ahhhh, the good ol' 1980's, where rape is in a PG movie... lol
You really need to NOT have the picture backwards. It sucks when you have something to read, and disorienting when you see someone driving or such.
You fell for the inside joke, just like every other reactor. At the audition, the "old stooge," as you referred to him as, was Huey Lewis, who wrote "The Power to Love," which was played as Marty hitched rides to school. It was also the piece Marty played at the audition. So this hair-slicked-back guy in the ugly suit was a rocker who plays really loud music at his concerts, and he gets to say that line. Gotcha! You're to be excused though, because, when he was big, you were still a little tyke. :)
Those old soda-acid fire extinguishers used to output plain water to put out the fire, but combined sulfuric acid and baking soda to create the CO2 to expel it. IIRC, to activate it you just turned it upside-down, which mixed the chemicals and forced the water out.
Dude, you have no idea. I wasn't even hold on to the back of a cop car and I was just riding my brand new bicycle a huffy mountain bike. I literally didn't stop at a stop sign on my bicycle by the way and he turned his lights on and pulled me over for not stopping at a stop sign on a bicycle on the motorized by the way and gave me a fucking ticket confiscated my fucking pocket knife which is little more than my pinky in length. Meaning only the blade. I live in one of the tiniest towns ever. The population is not over 1000 the part where Marty McFly ran over the car was completely unscripted, it was not intentional so they recreated it as best they could. My nickname is McFly.
Well technically he's named Marty after his great grandfather's brother. But yea. He's basically named after himself
I’ve seen this movie a thousand times. First time seeing it backwards.
Not every school had dances. I never went. I was too cool anyway!!!!!
I was born in '92, figured you were around my age. But you were already like 5 when this came out in '85? You're the same age as my sister lol. Lookin' good for your age haha.
Michael J. Fox (Marty) spat the drink in the car with Loraine because of a prank the crew planned: They put real alcohol in the bottle that was supposed to have water in it... :)
The more I see the mall scene the more I think about what if the experiment hadn't worked? They would have both died because doc insisted on filming from the front. It doesn't make much common sense. If you don't know if something is going to work, you would be a fool to put yourself and especially someone else in that kind of danger. I mean Strickland was right in say that doc Brown is dangerous.
It's meant to be, it's meant to be. No that's not the logic this movie is going for. If they change something, they create a different timeline. Although the mess up their own logic up by Marty's picture not change at all and some other things. Thankfully the move is well made in other regards and it's the 80s so I don't care. Other movies though...hate how they mess it up.
well the McFlys are an irish family that came over to America...there were a lot of those. and it starts out displaying them as a lot of stereotypes of the irish family; not very well off...not much money...using a bit too much of the old booze (mind you the mum married into the family so...) but as we learn more about their backstory we learn stereotypes aren't always true...especially regarding the behaviour of the parents. as for why marty is attractive well when you see i=his mum at a young age...you can tell where he got it from
So you´ll call me a freak on that one, but I always thought that the fact of having the exact minute when the lightning strikes the clock tower is not enough to make their plan work... 1 minutes is a 60 seconds time range in which the lightning can strike and the plan potentially fail.... Yes , I though about this.
The time travel here is not immutable time, it’s more of a branching timeline or multiverse but with a catch-up delay. Marty had never been in the past at the beginning of the movie so had caused nothing. He did not influence the mayor. He had not created Johnny B. Good. By the end he has been to the past and he has maybe now caused some of those things (or hopefully at least didn’t change them). The catchup delay is neat because it causes things to not change instantly and gives them a chance to fix things... or dread their consequences. :)
Didn't allow dancing?
Are you in Purdy Missouri or something?
Ive watched this movie my whole life and it feels weird watching this movie with the screen inverted, but it’s still my favorite movie of all time, after The Godfather part 1 and 2!
Something pretty old?.. 1985?.. WtF!!!???
The guy who told that they were too loud is Huey Lewis. The principal looks familiar because he was in Top Gun.
Maybe Seinfeld copied from this movie. The Kramer reaction.
one of my favorite easter eggs is that when marty and lorraine were "parked" the spit take was real because they put actual alcohol in the bottle. I love old time pranks...
REALLY DISTRACTING THAT YOU SHOWED THE ENTIRE FILM AS A MIRROR PROJECTIONS WITH ALL THE WORDS BACKWARDS.
Weird to watch your video showing everything backwards.
“So Biff... his boss... is like a total... a total bad guy...”
I was like well.. what else?
He says no man should know to much about his own destiny but he was watching that movie, about the lybions catching them so he already knew about them shooting him. He never needed that note. I mean sure it didn't show him die but he seen the lybions shooting at them and can put two and two together. Why is marty there and why isnt the doc. He can figure out he got killed.
8:30 some people think that doc was actually trying to take himself out at this moment if he had one more invention that didn't work. In short it works or it's the end of Doc and Marty!
Watching this w my mom was hilarious. She says ‘Great Scot’ as much as doc does. So every time he said she had already said it too. 😂
There’s a reason why this movie is seen as perfect. It’s still used in film schools as how to make a great movie.
Gosh, you're totally right. ..Doc is Kramer.
My absolute favorite trilogy!!!
Can't wait to watch 2 and 3!
This is one of my all time fave movies. The scripting and details within are exceptional.
Let's talk about Lorraine and the transformation to how she was across the different times
They say that to knowing your future will destroy it. Good or bad you will think it’s out of your hands and not try.
Huey Lewis played the role of the guy who told him he was playing Huey Lewis too loud. 🤣
My family and I quote this movie so much 😂 Such a classic
Imagine a real dogs reaction to being in a moving car by themselves.
I’ve seen this movie so many times that the mirror image playback is messing with me.
Were you an auctioneer in a past life?!
